I feel like he should be in more material. His voice is so underrated. Jen Hale is in a ton of stuff. Maybe in the next Halo game if Sarah Palmer has a team (Jen Hale’s Halo character) he should totally be a spartan on it! He could also be a fighter in a Mortal Kombat/Injustice game
Guys, guys! There's no need to argue; there's no accounting for taste - whether you prefer the male or female shepherd voice. I mean it's clear that Male Shep is clearly superior in every meaningful way, but people are entitled to their wrong opinions goddamnit!
derekmok Meer's delivery of "The best" in the citadel dlc eclipses fem shep's entire performance accross three games lmao. First time I heard fem shep say it, it felt ok at best... Meer's delivery still haunts me to this day. So powerful...
> Meer's delivery of "The best" in the citadel dlc eclipses fem shep's entire performance accross three games What a load of bullshit. Just play Mark Meer's audio "performance" to a voice-acting coach sometime. Sounds like an "actor" with two weeks' experience. If you're so easily "haunted", a head of cabbage probably "haunts" you "to this day". "I want you, Tali." Jesus Christ, sounds like he's ordering a taco. How many video games have hired Mark Meer to do voice acting since Mass Effect 3 five years ago? Six, and four of them were made by the brain-dead non-directors of BioWare. How many video games have hired Jennifer Hale to do voice acting since Mass Effect 3? Nineteen. That's not even counting voice work in high-profile TV shows like Powerpuff Girls, Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers Assemble. Hale typically lands more acting jobs in one year than Mark Meer has gotten in his entire career. Hale is one of the most successful game voice actors of all time; Meer is emphatically not.
derekmok you're an idiot lol. Just admit Meer nailed "the best" and Hail failed it big fucking time. As for the entire trilogy... ME1 was terrible for both of them and all voice actors in general, but ME2 and 3 were good for both actors. Stop being a sad little hater who knows nothing, I have acted in several plays and small films, and have about ten times the experiencr you have. Enjoy being last in your little "acting class" lmao, youre cute baby girl.
You and your "plays and small films"...don't make me laugh. I have edited 100 commercials and over 60 short films. You couldn't tell a good actor from an extra. Just the fact that you think one two-word line is a barometer for acting shows how little training you have.
derekmok you overthink everything, its obvious you're an amateur who thinks he knows all. These two words have stayed with millions of gamers because of the delivery, if you cant acknowledge that its important despite it being "only two words", go back to school cutesy. You have no career, you are nothing... you have the typical attitude of an amateur student with 0 experience who over analyses and regurgitates "techniques" you learned at school yesterday or some shit lol. You are such a cliche, enjoy being wrong and a nobody with no talent x)
I wouldn't like the Shep VA's to voice the Ryders, would be too similar to Shepard. But I would love to hear them in Andromeda either as aliens like Vorcha and Volus like Mark does, or even as new critical characters.
I chose colonist background for my very first male and female sheps the first time I played ME1 Mark Meer fits a soft-spoken Paragon Shepard (Colonist/War Hero). Jennifer Hale is better for a more renegade brutally bitchy Shepard (Colonist/Ruthless).
***** There were times where I thought the same thing about Mark Meer, particularly in ME2 and 3. True, Hale can sound a little forced at times, but I noticed that more in the very first game.
and besides some of the dialogue you get in Mass Effect 3 makes no damn sense if you're not playing renegade or renegade/paragon.I blame male Shepard and nine times out of 10 I play male Shepard who is ruthless class and sentinel I also claim him to be sole survivor colonist on mindor. They also called him The butcher of torphin. But that was a slaver colony that deserve to die. My particular Shepherd is my sometimes but really don't want to cross him . Or else I'll throw you out the window.
Say what you want but he MADE Mass Effect by making John Shepard. That character makes the game and it fits the face. He made many of the other voices too so if you love the game you can thank him.
canon shepard is female tho lmfao he’s a great dude, and he did AMAZINGLY with the vorcha, but his voice acting as male shepard was literally so fucking bland. not tonal inflections whatsoever. dude was literally a robot.
@@OutroBusan Femshep VO was a lot of cringe overacting to the point some dialogue seemed unrealistic in delivery for the scenes, Hale is not to blame, it is VO director's problem. Mark Meer was way way better when all things considered. Andromeda had similar issues, there is no consistency in the direction and tone of delivery. You have to keep in mind VO is not done in a short period, the VO actors go away and come back after a few weeks so the VO director needs to modulate the tone and direction of the delivery. Nope, not a single bit of confirmation from Bioware as to who was canon, it's just internet vocal minorities who shout the loudest. The player base stats already prove Broshep was the vast overwhelming majority of play-through choice amongst the player base, based off of a stat infographic direct from Bioware, not anyone's opinion. My take on this whole push for Femshep to be 'canon' is that it is no different to SJWs taking offense on behalf of others, just a bunch of guys looking for brownie points trying to show how much they 'stand' for women's rights. This is a game, these guys want to stand for women's rights? Go out and actually do something that actually helps that cause, shouting it out everywhere doesn't win you brownie points or help addressing women's abuse in the world, especially over a game. How absurd. Let's be real, that's what this is all about. Especially when some men go out of their way to be female in a game which offers both gender options, just so they can shout it from the rooftops. No one really cares for this sort of virtue signaling. It's despicably cheap and far from genuine. That all said the fad is already losing steam, the next fad will be why isn't the protagonist allowed to be a non-binary or something along those lines, then we will have small group of clowns shouting loudly about how their non-binary characters was the best so make it canon because they said so.
@@mclarenbutton6342 the internet is the only place where you can say one thing and some asshole comes in saying something completely different LMAOOO only reason why the voice acting in general was all over the place in the games was because the actors recorded their lines independently and weren’t able to bounce off each other. pretty sure hale and meer said they recorded their lines before everyone else and the other characters listened to their lines while recording their own.

For that he is obviously such a talented voice actor and actor in general, his performance as shepards voice was, except of some special moments in mass effect 3, pretty weak i think....
Well, I guess it's a matter of taste... I didn't want to offend anyone but I think even a military man can show some feelings here and there! ;) I played the whole franchise two times, first as maleshep and then as femshep and I must say that I prefer femsheps voice over maleshep's. @@BarelloSmith That's exactly what i didnt like about hale. A military commander shouldnt show emotion at every line. I'd like to think it's pretty vital to detach yourself from personal emotions when leading troops and trying to survive on a battlefield. Hale is great for renegade cause all of her lines have that bitchy tone. Aside from those i really didnt enjoy her performance. Especially the paragon ones.
2:47 BANCOUVER WAS THE FIRST TARGET :::::::::::::::::) LOL ! Vancouver beware.
No one could have been a better commander Shepard!
I knew Mark voiced the Vorcha but actually seeing him perform is so surreal. It’s like seeing Tara Strong do Ben 10 or Kathleen Barr do Kevin.
Liara is Blue Garrus is Grey I'm Commander Shepard We'll bang ok?
Mark is a legendary voice actor. we can't lose the protagonist!
Never forget how talented Mark Meer. He voiced the freaking Vorcha.
I've been playing the games for years and never knew this
0:24 What a gratuitous burn
Just hearing his voice makes me want to play another playthrough as Male Shep lol
I knew he voiced the Vorcha but I didn't know about the Volus
I don't know why, but I think Mark Meer would be and awesome option in a reboot of Evil Dead as Ash
Best VA of all time
I’m on a rabbit hole of old Mass Effect videos
I think Meer would be a perfect fit for Piccolo.
Shepherd to Zaeed: I oughta knock you the hell out.
Thanks Mark, for the best trilogy in existence
I love him, but his voice of male Shep is just…meh. I want to like it, but it’s just too wooden! I love all the other voices he does!
This man voice makes my wet
Wait he did demo work for KOTOR who was he supposed to play

I miss you Shepard.
Ill talk to you later
Pure bioware, before EA changed how they do things!!
i just want to see him say "we'll bang okay?"
Got to meet him in person this week. Such a cool guy.
Mass effect movie, right... now. With Mark Meer as Shepard. PLEASE!

Lol he voiced a Vorcha and a Volus and Shepard's voice this guy is epic! Hey Ryder brothers suck on Shepard's Nuts!!!
Really Vorche have Shepard voice XD Shame that there no free DLC with Mark Meer face scan :(
I've never been the biggest fan of Mass Effect's voice acting, personally.
this is my favourite store in the citadel.
Watching Mark Meer voice a Vorcha is fantastic
Nolan North is an awesome voice actor but Mark Meer is <3

he's vorcha AND volus !? WOOW
He actually had creative influences in every one of the aliens pretty much he voiced well maybe not all but most.
What a meme guy
Mark Meer is legendary!
so now I know who to blame for Shepards slightly too monotone dialogue...not the voice actor but the director.
The voice is fine.
Mini Monster Mayhem he is a soldier
