It has a dance literature na sinusunod po sir. Depende na po yun sa nag iinterpret ng Dance literature sir. Try to check the Dance Literature and create a sample video on how to excute well the Bendian Dance based on the Published Book of Philippine Folk Dance Literature.

@@JRH_JaDe Kahit may literature pa po yan pero mali naman, hindi pa rin po tama. The fact that it is a published book doesn't make it infallible po. Marami pong mga "dance literature" ang napa-publish without consulting members of the culture they were supposed to have been derived from. Many choreographers tend to sacrifice authenticity and correctness in favor of aesthetics gayong hindi dapat ito ginagawa since it is disrespectful to the culture they are taking inspiration from. All I'm saying is, from the standpoint of a cultural bearer and performer from the ili, hindi po yan pwedeng tawaging Bendian dahil hindi ganyan ang steps ng Bendian kung saan sinasayaw ang tunay at original na Bendian, which is in Benguet. At best, you can call that performance an "interpretive version" of Bendian. Dapat may disclaimer na lang po sya na hindi siya legit.

It's a dance research meaning pinupuntahan kung saan nag originate yung dance mismo nag coconsult sa mga original dancers at ineenhance lang yung movements from the Original movements of the dance. Hindi madali mag research at mag publish ng isang Folk Dance sir it takes years bago yan ma approved at ma published. Hindi yan ma pupublished if hindi maayos at correct yung pagka gawa. Yes, let's admit na mali nga yung pagka sayaw ng Bendian. But sir, nag coconsult muna yan sila nang expert sa interpretation ng Dance hindi yan sinasayaw na para lang sa kagustohan at interpretasyon ng isang trainor sa Folk Dance. Nagpupunta pa nga yung iba sa place kung saan nanggaling ang isang Sayaw. Well, baka hindi mo pa alam kung ano yung History ng pagsasayaw ng Philippine Folk Dances at Indigenous Dances. Try to ask Doc. Larry A. Gabao yan ang taong makakasagot sa mga katanongan mo sa pagsasayaw at pag iinterpret ng isang Folk Dance.

@ Sir, I am a culture bearer from the Cordilleras and I have had my fair share of performances such as these. Do you not think I would know what I would be talking about? I work closely with the elders of different ethnolinguistic groups, one of which is the Ibaloi group where the Bendian dance originates. Our elders never taught us the things you so proudly present on stage because that is not what they were taught by their ancestors. Isa pa, napaka-lowland centric naman ng idea ninyong kailangang “i-enhance” ang mga sayaw ng ibang kultura. What? Not aesthetic enough ang tunay na Bendian for you? Our culture is open to your interpretation, ganon? Sa tinagal kong nag-aaral at nagtuturo ng ng mga cultural dances sa aming lugar, I know what I am talking about. Kahit siguro may dance lit pa yan, your modernized “bendian dance” does not come close to understanding the nuances and contexts of our culture. My point is, wag sanang gamitin basta-basta ang pangalan ng mga pieces ng culture ng iba to refer to something that is far removed from the original. Isa pa, between a culture bearer and a mere observer of culture, kanino ka ba mas maniniwala?

Hello! The bendian dance originates from the town of Kabayan in the province of Benguet. The term "bendiyan" or "bendian" is thought to have come from the Ibaloi "bedi", meaning fatigue, as it is quite literally, a dance that requires hige amounts of strength. In the old days, it was performed for days on end, with the participants dancing in an endless circle until they grew tired. Originally, bendian was performed as a victory dance for when the men of the ethnic group would return from battle, carrying their spoils with them. The spoils would then be piled in an area where the villagers would dance in celebration. In the years following the American era and the advent of Christianity, the bendian dance was ascribed a different purpose/meaning. It now served to remind the Ibalois of the rituals of agriculture. The gestures of the arms (while dancing) each have a different meaning. These gestures also correspond to different terms that would be shouted during the dance to signify changing the position fo the arms.
