I actually think the Five & Lila affair might have worked if there was time afterwards to deal with the aftermath, but given it happened in the 2nd last episode, it just added unnecessary personal conflict.

Definitely the worst season. Frechie and MM do basically the same thing they do in every season. Hughie is so abused this season, and Starlight was made much more unlikable. A-Train and the Deep were handled well. Homelander is still great, but not as unpredictable as he is in previous seasons. The reason people are criticizing the politics of this season is because it's much more one sided than 1-3 and much more blunt imo. It's still entertaining but definitely has some problems.

I think it was great and set things up amazingly for season 5

For me the movie is 10/10. I love Jeff Nichols' catalogue. I am glad movies like this still come out these days. It's a gift which of course not everyone will treasure accordingly. Thank you for the review.

I love both the first and second avengers movies. But both have weaknesses that annoy me. For the first movie it’s Caps suit he wears and the cinematography. For the second movie it’s ultron quirkiness and the idea that a whole city can be lifted into the sky using a surplus of vibranium. Other than those weaknesses I still enjoy the films.

Another one of my favorite Marvel Movies! I agree, this movie does deserve more recognition. It was a fun ride in the theater and I love the film. Thanks for showing some love to these underrated Marvel Movies.

The winter soldier is a masterpiece. It has everything you want in a comicbook movie. It is still my favorite Marvel movie .

A "thumb's down" is the best I can do. The author should turn back the clock and enroll in my classes on literary criticism, film and discursive writing. I find nothing here but the author's own imagination imposing itself. The reader might listen/read and count the examples of "feel". I liked the movie - a lot - it was a hell of a rollercoaster ride and that's all it was meant to be. At least Kong has personality - Godzilla is a stoic Mary sue. (real bore.) I don't even know why he's in this - he wasn't necessary at all, really.

This is easily my favorite movie of 2024, nothing else will compare or compete with this for me. This movie is a 10/10, this is also my favorite movie in the Monsterverse so far.

I loved dune 2 and there are many stupid criticism arguments that are brought up by people who havent read the books that I will fight tooth and nail against. However, you do make some good points I agree with partially here. Mainly in how the world doesn't feel lived in like how LoTR did. Which is a shame because the books definitely illustrate a world lived in by millions of people and we are exposed to so many societies and groups of people besides just the harkonens, Atreities, and Fremin. This is something I was disappointed by in both movies. Denis never shows us more of the world building that Herbert built to support these stories like the Spacing guild, choam company, and empire. Nor does it slow down and give us time to savor moments with everyday people who live in this universe and see a world that's lived in like seeing the lives of the every day people. We were never really exposed to entire societies on Arakis like the smugglers and we never saw some of the universe's mysteries and secrets like the Navigators of the Spacing guild. It's not that you aren't a fan of this franchise, it's that you are not a fan of Denis's execution of it. Read the books and you will find the missing elements you seek.

Your opinion definitely doesn't go against the grain. I love the dune books and was heartbroken by these films. They are emotionally barren and conceptually hollow, not to mention badly edited.

You miss the point of this piece of media. Wanting to see people walk around in the background in some establishing shots to make it feel more "lived in" is such a shallow want. Aside from the Fremen, you are literally in the room with aristocrats and their immediately family, servants and soldiers. The story is about the conflict between these aristocratic houses, not the normal people who they rule over. You get to know the Fremen, but shortly after they just blend in with the hoard of zealots that follow Paul. It's SUPPOSED to make you forget that normal people exist in this world, they become faceless fodder for the ambitions and desires of their rulers. It tricks you into supporting Paul at first, then you are supposed to feel more and more conflicted about his actions. I can't say much more without spoiling the next book, but you'll see why this is not necessarily about "world building" in the way you seem to narrowly define it. It's a piece of media about philosophy, religion and politics. It's not meant to be an epic adventure like lotr and it's kind of ridiculous to even compare it.

I thought that journey southward scene and Paul walking into the temple was really weird and took me out of the moment.

Believing and Feeling a Fantasy World through film is a highly subjective experience. Villeneuves Dune is certainly "cold" as is the original Herbert books. Not every piece of fiction is going to be loved by everyone. Thats the nature of art. Your criticism is legit and respectfull.
