Ammon is a hero of mine. I got the chance to talk to him through Facebook messenger about ten years ago. I asked him some questions about gear placement and told him that being able to talk to him was like talking to Ted Williams or Elvis, and I will always maintain that. He, of course, shrugged off that compliment. What a beautiful person. He makes me proud to be human and always will.

I've had to repair a house badly attacked by a woodpecker. It picked one house, not the neighbors. In the spring they use my metal roof as a wake up call.

Pileated is the largest woodpecker in North America, but that's Old World craftsmanship! When I hear that sound and their calls in the woods I smile.

Were I live these are common...I watched one over the course of a week.take out a stump.in my yard.and he did it really easy..saved me a lot of work..all I had to do was pick up the big peaces..we call those wood hens..
