Outside of the red is off track and gets a penalty. Hard for them to watch everyone though. I try to stay in the limits.

@@aaronflores21af it is rough, and so are the karts. However, there is a new owner. Pretty cool dude from Italy. 20 brand new CRG karts are supposed to arrive early September. Also, a repave in September. Should bring the place back to life.

Which track do you think maintains there karts better like handling, speed and such? And last question what track do you have more fun at lol?

Dallas Karting Complex has 5 track configurations. So far, I’ve only seen 3 used for League racing. Lone Star (Ft. Worth) only 1 configuration. Houston Karting Complex, 4 configurations. After attending many races, the tracks can be learned well. Speedsportz in Houston, however, has 16 track configurations. And the league configuration isn’t announced until the drivers meeting. There is only 1 configuration that you can practice on, that is the regular concession track. So, I would have to say Speedsportz league races take the most adaptability and skill.

All the tracks do the best they can to keep the karts up to par. The mechanics work constantly trying to keep up. The problem is these karts are also used for the public concession runs. And some folks don’t really need to be driving that fast. Some come wanting to crash with their buddies, others just can’t yet handle it. And it doesn’t take long to damage the karts. During league races, everyone knows there is a chance of pulling a dud. Speedsportz lets the computer assign karts randomly. Which is fine, but they run all classes together and don’t do rolling starts. A heavy like myself will just watch 5 Lightweights swallow the field at the start. I try to pay attention to what karts other Heavies are in, so I have an idea who I am racing. Heavies minimum weight there is 220, which gives me a fighting chance. I am thankful for that. Dallas assigns them as they are parked. After a few races the karts are parked fast to slow, so you are going to have to work to gain any positions. And their Heavy Class minimum weight is 190lbs….?? Slim chance for a 225 lb driver. Lone Star, like Dallas assigns them as they are parked. And Heavy Class minimum is 190 lbs. Houston Karting Complex karts are assigned by each driver pulling a poker chip with a kart number from a can. In my opinion, this is the fairest method. No complaints or gripes. “You pulled the number.” They have rolling starts and Heavy Class starts at 225 lbs. I dig it.

I don’t think I can put my finger on the “most fun” track. Lately I have really been enjoying DKC South track. Because it is somewhat new, I suppose. But, low weight minimum and kart drawing method, I’m pretty much doomed to mid-pack.

Got back to back races for Sunday and Monday !!!! Last year they threw a new trick at us . 4 races and 4 different track configurations . We have a club track and a public track . One year for finals we used both tracks ! A double DNF day 😭 Have always scored top 3 for regular season miss podium twice a year . 10 years and only a 3rd place was the best . Was king of DNF for last double header of the season .

I remember the rough driving. Dude has skills, just no patience. I try not to take it personal, it’s just a kart race. Even if I did, I would have had to get in line to complain. Hopefully dude will simmer down and race clean with us. You can catch more ants with sugar than you can with fire.

I understand. I have had the same scenario before. I had a rocket kart and was headed for the front. Then, started running out of fuel in left turns. G-force sending the fuel away from the pick up. I know how frustrated you were.

@megmo1 i know of atleast 4 guys that had the same issue on the final. This is like the third time that has happened to me.

Minute 1:04 dive bomb that was me lmao I did like that kart was fast main heat didn’t have the same luck kart run out of gas and didn’t finish the race only did 2 laps I was on fire because of that.

It’s good fun. If you are in the Houston area, you should join in. No need to be in the Houston area though. I drive 3 hours to race in Houston.

@davidvice85 the 2 Thursdays prior to league race day, HKC hosts practice from 1800-2200. $15 races on those days as well

I appreciate the input. Keep the racing tips coming. I learn something new every time the green flag is dropped. I have progressed some since starting in the karts, and more information is welcomed.

New Caney, Texas. North of Houston on Highway 59/I-69

I wear the yellow shoes so that I can critique my braking and gas in the video footage. You can watch my feet in the HKC videos and see if it works for you. Weight has an effect on the braking zones and driving lines as well. I am 230 lbs, a person weighing 150 lbs will have a different line and braking point. If we can find ourselves there at the same time, I will gladly be pass along everything I have learned so far. We can make some practice runs as well and work on those marks.

Seeing you get that win was just as good as if I had won myself.

They are decent. That Class is 190 lbs and up. I’m 230, so I get killed in the straight sections.

@@jaredsanchez4265 At HKC (Conroe,TX) there are 3 weight classes. Racing is usually a bit closer there. Their League Races are scheduled on Saturdays.

Come to the next League Race at either SpeedSportz or Houston Karting Complex. Or both would be even better. I’ll give you all the info I can. And so will the others. HKC has practice on Thursdays with the League track configuration. 6 pm to 10 pm. $15 races all day on Thursdays. Jump in there with the pack. It will help a lot.

@@cordslol Yes, all together during practice. Be sure to sign into the league practice sheet in the office. Otherwise, you’ll be in regular concession runs. They alternate between League Runs and Concession Runs every race.

I do a quick lift of the throttle as I start that slight turn to the right. It allows the front to grab before hitting that hard left. And the best way to get better at racing in a pack is to just “jump into the fire”. It will come to you I’m sure. Plus every racer there at HKC, as well as other places, are happy to coach you up if you ask questions. Jump in brother 🔥 You won’t regret it.

Come on and join in. You would be in the light class at HKC in Conroe. They do allow you to add weights if you would rather be in the Senior or Master Class. Next race in Conroe is April 13 on Saturday. Are you in the Houston area?

@@megmo1 missouri my brother lives in tulsa so thats why i was there racing down there on that track its called Xtreme racing i think first time on electric karts those things boogied, other than were always on predator engine karts we put together. for a cheap engine once they get in the rpms those things fuckin boogie too. fyi if you aint know there are two version of the predator 212 one of them is a HEMI head thats the one you want for go karts its a exact replica of the honda motor so parts and aftermarket increases are bolt on

@@petejones6827 There was a dude named Hans Blickner in Tulsa that had an outdoor kart track. I went there in 2005 I believe. Track may still be there and running. Not sure. I prefer outdoor gas engines though. Seem the indoor places have limited passing opportunities.

@@megmo1 We pretty lucky in Toronto area for weather ! We have perfect karting weather right now ! As a kart owner could not tell . Ran Briggs Masters and weigh 135 lbs . Minimum driver weight was 175 . Had a wee bit of weight added to kart ! When ran my last race did a DNF in pre final and pulled the weight ! After dragging that extra weight around WOW what a difference after 4 years 😁! Still do some rental races and they won't let me race guys my own age . Not many skinny guys so race in light adult group . Being 55 now race drivers who half my age ! 3 podiums in 5 races last year so can still give the kids a hard time 😁🏁
