It comes down to the best explanation not th correct one. I don't think I can know what one is correct. I see both theories having their own challenges. One being the unknown of when Isaac is weaned. We just don't know. On the other side, their is a much larger gap from Joseph's death to the Exodus. That is challenging with the geanioligical dating/ages. With the Jacob perspective beginning the 430 years, we have a clear or certain dating of 30 years from Jacob's Covenant at Bethel to Joseph's Enslavement in Egypt. We know Joseph is 17 when he went to Egypt. We know how old Jacob was at the time because when he comes to Egypt he is 130/ Joseph 39. The time from Jacob's Covenant at Bethel to Joseph's Enslavement is 30 years. We don't know for certain the age of Weaning. Another point is the prophecy to Abraham is his descendants would serve and be Oppressed as foreigners (paraphasing) One argument is that a teenager, who lives on his fathers land, makes fun of his half-brother baby. The other is Joseph literally bring sold into slavery, serving in a foreign land. To me, in regards to the persecution/Oppressed argument Joseph fits better than Isaac (in a vacuum) Also it speaks of Sojourning. Jacob's conversation with the Lord explicitly focuses on that topic. Than Perez has to become an Adult to have a Child Hezron. Who if absolutely literal is said to go into Egypt. But if you consider all these men to be Adults having children at the age of 15.
