Valentina's Song (Tomorrow Will Be Better Than Today).
I miss my local newspaper vendor Valentina and her kiosk. I miss her positivity and warm-heartedness. Valentina left Moscow a couple of years ago and has been undergoing cancer treatment in Kursk.
To cheer her up I turned the Valentina’s Kiosk theme I'd written into a song. in their centenary year the legendary BBC Singers have recorded it for her. A huge thank you to them.

Looking for clues in today’s Russian papers to how Moscow might react to Ukraine striking Russia with ATACMS missiles. One Russian paper today comments on Donald Trump’s pick for defence secretary Pete Hegseth: “Some of his views…make your hair stand on end. It’s unlikely this war dog will do much good for American power. And that’s a good thing.” Plus, calls for a Stalin statue in Moscow. Please subscribe to my channel ruclips.net/user/SteveRosenberg

In terms of administrative skills, one Russian paper today calls Trump “a big baby who doesn’t know how to work in a team. It’s unclear what will tip the scale: Trump's newly aquired confidence or his incompetence which hasn’t gone away.” #ReadingRussia Please subscribe to my channel ruclips.net/user/SteveRosenberg

What’s your opinion of the statue at the front of the building?
I worked as an engineer for Graphic Design in the John Aston/Brian Tregidden era in the Scenery Block just when GD was doing more of the broadcast graphics electronically. We eventually got absorbed by the huge Post Production dept which led onto big organisational changes…..
This sounds like written by Rachmaninoff. Nice minor key, you could say typically Russian.
So beautiful, hopefully it will be heard too in Moscow, and just maybe wars will end 🙏🏼
This song does you great credit Steve. Please bring more stories of ordinary Russians like Valentina.
Outstanding.
Bravo Steve!
Absolutely beautiful song and words. Performed wonderfully.
Clever. Nuanced. 👍🏻🇬🇧
Beautiful. Hope in the midst of despair. Is the score anywhere so I can learn it on my piano?
Sounded more cheerful when played at 1.5 times speed.
Cheers to all the Valentinas and Steves in the world, who in their own way radiate love and care. In truth it’s most people in the world. Who are held to ransom by a tiny minority of (very) bad people.
Beautiful. ❤️
Steve, genuine question. Who had items in security boxes because of theft first, UK or Russia?
Is it now a coincidence the BBC has gone wrong, the country has gone wrong?
The list is long. Their bias only hides the problems and makes it harder to recover what we’ve lost
Class! Sad that those who are saint has to go through all this hell...
Saw this on Bluesky, had to come here so I can share to FB Absolutely beautiful. Stopped me in my tracks.
Valentina my (only) favourite ruZZian
My response to this video and the twenty comments posted before me (and hopefully many others after) is hear, hear!
Steve you are truly a filmmaker. So warm and kind videos. It touches my heart.
What a beautiful song. I hope that Valentina will hear it one day. All good wishes to her. Thank you, Steve, for this lovely gesture and to all concerned for the wonderful performance.
Wonderful!
Where is the Love ? Russians and Ukrainians shared the border like England and Scotland. They were even closer than that. Many families were split between Russia and Ukraine. Putin manufactured a hat_red within the russian people for their Ukrainian cousins. So many Ukrainian "Valentina's" have been bombed out of their kiosks. Why do the russian people allow this disgusting war to continue ? Where is the Love ? :-(
Fix subtitles please.
Absolutely masterful Steve, the empathy , the words the mood. How you managed to encapsulate this special life and share her with the world. Bravo Steve, Bravo Valintina where love transcends the brutality of human indifference.
Amazing song, it brought tears to my eyes ❤❤❤
What a lovely song for Valentina. Well done Steve, most of us had no idea you are a musician! 😍
what a beautiful tribute, with beautiful voices and beautiful lyrics. i wish valentina well. if she, god forbid, doesn't succeed, then i wish her a peaceful time in heaven as someone who isn't an avid bbc listener, i want to thank you for all your contributions. may god be with you and valentina.
A wonderful tribute! I heard it on BBC Radio 3 this morning. Good luck to Valentina!
This is very lovely Steve and a terrific tribute to an extraordinary lady. I have been wondering about her and praying she is ok. Do please send her warmest wishes when you next see her.
Wonderful get well soon. Alentina!
Hope this brings her some comfort!
This world in a nutshell, we’re capable of totally destroying each other without reason and creating something lovely in the same breath 🤯
Wishing Valentina a speedy recovery. Thank you Steve.
Touching and delivered with great respect for Valentina. Well done.
Fabuolous - brought tears to my eyes; god bless you both Steve & Valentina.
Lovely! Thank you! I miss you chats with her.
LOVELY 😢
very moving, best wishes to Valentina
Amazing song Mr. Rosenberg. I hope that Valentina gets well.
So it’s ok for Iran and North Korea to supply arms and troops to Russia. Frankly I am beginning to think the West should make the first move and call his bluff.
Thanks.
Ну кто в современном мире покупает и читает газеты? 🤦♂️ Я деньги бумажные не помню, когда держал в руках, а тут газета
Seems like there's free media in Russia.
В наше время доверять СМИ?? Как сказал профессор Преображенский: "и не читайте по утрам советские газеты!"
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Only people who are starting the war rhetoric is the cia
Meanwhile in the west we have how feet up while the stupid ruSSians are getting their panties in a knot into a panic over a a war they started and are failing to win 😂
your fake news is finished, MAGA
I suspect that the railway 'investment' being cut is in fact maintenance. Same with Western built airliners which are being mothballed due to lack of spares and engineers.
