Do expanders ever go on the bottom teeth because my child's teeth are crowded and I had assumed it would be placed there.
Yes, My kid just got top and bottom expanders.
My last bracket on one side feel off a few months ago and we just got insurance but it just now started to bother me im scheduled to go into the orthodontist in a few days should i just leave it alone ortake the bracket on the other side off because its bothering me alot now
If you can tolerate it until you go, best to leave it alone... You could break something else if you try to pull it off.
I just got my braces earlier today. My dentist told me to get ibuprofen if/when it hurts but I said I was good because there was literally no pain after my appointment. Here I am 6 hours later googling: DELAYED TOOTH PAIN AFTER BRACES IS IT OK. Glad I googled it because it eventually led me to this video. Thanks Doc!

I feel like it push my teeth to the front making my overbite more worst 😭
A known side effect of the upper jaw moving slightly forward during expansion. Don't worry, the braces that will follow your expander should correct that!!!

hello! thanks for such an informative video. i got braces on 4 days ago and i find that my molars don’t really line up like they used to when i bite down. i’m not sure if the actual braces are in the way or if my teeth are already shifting. should i be concerned? i know its probably difficult to answer since you don’t know my specific case but i appreciate the info nonetheless!

I got my braces 2 day's ago but my dentist didn't give me any instructions this video is very helpful for me ,doctor please i have a question ,when ever i eat something even soft food ,my teeth's do touch with my super and down braces ,is it oky because I'm fearing my braces will break down ,and should I tell to my ortho to fix my braces properly ,hope I will get reply from you thank you doctor
You should NOT be able to bite on your braces, they will likely break off eventually. Let your orthodontist know!

@@VeronicaSlaysss it will hurt for 2 week's to 3 week's after pain will be gone and you can take pain killer tablet like panadol or other now i have been 2 months with braces i don't feel anything no pain nothing but always avoid to hard and chewing food

Hello! I have a question. My incisors are misaligned due to a buccally impacted canine causing them to shirt leftwards which makes my tooth midline off centre. Do you think this would this cause any issues with palate expansion? Thank you!
Most likely will not effect the expansion!
What if you don’t hear the click? Sometimes I hear it and sometimes I don’t. If I don’t hear it I feel like I’m doing it wrong 😖
I've never used an expander that has any kind of click... I assume some brands may be like that, but I can't be sure.

What can I do if small food gets stuck under my bottom expander? I’ve tried flossing and rinsing but nothing works
I dont 'know if you orthodontist gave you one, but we give our patients "proxy brushes" (looks like a tiny pipe-cleaner with a handle), to get out food that brushing/rinsing doesn't get... you can get them in the pharmacy/drug store!

Dentist says our daughter has to get this at age 7, she's 5 now. Is it super painful?
Not at all! But make sure you see an orthodontist (specialist) to diagnose and treat if needed, not your general dentist!
@drdougortho okay. Dentist is saying she has a crossbite and referral will be given at 7 years old. I'm thinking maybe I should just ask for the referral now to see what the orthodontist says.
My sons 11 and he has bottom and top expanders...... he now has a huge lisp and is in pain daily . The Expanders are cutting is cheeks due to the huge brackets so make sure if your daughter gets them you buy plenty of wax . It helps .. I guess now adays they don't wanna pull the teeth for extreme over crowding .. honestly bottom is easier to turn then top . It sucks to see my son in pain. Good luck . We're on day 3 of turning and it's a B *****

it should not! there are different ways to make/put these in... i can only speak for the way we do it that with the custom rings/bands on your teeth we make, there is ZERO discomfort on placing it on!

Depends on the case, but average I say 6 months for me
I just got mine 3 days ago, and i got the very uncomfortable ones where they have those brackets on the sides closet to the cheek and i was wondering how i could stop it from making my cheek from bleeding. I got wax to stick on the brackets but sometimes it doesn't work and doesnt stay for that long. But my main question ; is there anyway to stop it from hurting my cheek while eating for the first 3 weeks
the wax will stay on BETTER if you can somehow dry the area of metal before putting it on. i know it shard, but usually a papertowel around your finger to dry it a little while pulling your cheek out, then stick the wax on. I know its annoying, but eventually you will get used to the tubes that stick out.

I am hung up on the offset in the key, I seem to think you are rotating the key.. once insert?
I watched your updated video, I understand why there is an offset.
you push front to back.. the screw rotates in that direction... the offset makes sure the key doesn't go THROUGH the hole and poke the palate

Hey can you tell me can i brush my teeth the day i got braces? Actually i brushed but one of the brackets came off
I just got my braces on and one of the bite blockers fell out, I’m not really sure what to do because it dosent seem to be causing any harm, plus the other one will eventually wear away aswell
You should call to have it replaced. Hitting on one can cause too much pressure on that one tooth

I am 15 turning 16 in october my palate is about 40-45mm wide do i need expander when will it stop growing
The palate width is done growing by about 6-8 yrs old... The need for an expander is not just based on it's width, but rather on how it fits the lower arch.
Im getting them in 3 days and im preparing im 22 yo so hopefully i take care of them better than kids do

Unfortunately no, you can't make it bigger. You may have but completed the last turn and the hole is not fully exposed

You should be ok... May feel a little bit more tightness than younger kids, but you will be ok!
