Good day to be at The Cut! Dirt was good in the morning. Most riders I've seen out there.
The Cut MX Easley SC following Nick 4 hot laps

Following Nick on his 2 stroke. Wild man rides that thing sideways 90% of the time. Good back and forth. And for all you Stark sound complainers, there's a good 2 stroke sound track for ya.

Solo run through Parsons Mountain OHV on my Stark Varg. 41hp setting with 40% regen. 2nd half of the loop is in rough shape and cost a bit of time.

Practice laps on the Varg at my buddies woods track. Woods set up. Bike was down to 22% charge when started recording. I did not bring my generator today. Slick mud but worked in some great ruts for practice.

Clarkesville parking lot side. First hill climb to top of mountain before descent down "Slate Hill". Following Doug on his KTM 300. Doug is the unofficial Oakey tour guide and keeper of the land.

The old standard. "Slate Hill". The test of man and machine. There are 3 givens in life; Death, taxes and Slate Hill getting sketchier by the day.

Following Doug on his KTM 300. Zigged left when I should have zagged right. Slick mud under the leaves. Don't worry, the Varg was fine.

"Rock Hill", a more challenging section in Oakey Mtn OHV. Wide angle takes away the grade of the slope. Lots of rock ledges and loose large rock. Good times!

You hitting that in 3rd gear? LOL :)
3rd gear, the entire track 😁
Smooth
Thanks man!
That was a solid run
Solid 3/4 lap 😅
I did continue for a couple more but my GoPro mount was broken so couldn't record. Left the camera on the table there
@@japandrz you were running them down :)
@@DirtRaider450 Thanks man! I wish I hadn't have stuffed the Gopro into the bars. Follow on laps were pretty good. Was a good ride yesterday even if a bit muddy as Strawberry Hill always is.
how are flameouts with this bike? did you add a flywheel weight? how do you like it for single track usage ?
The newer 23+ bikes don't flameout as bad as the older KTM bikes in my opinion. Its still a big 450 though and requires clutch work to modulate the power down and keep it chugging along at lower speeds. It does very well in moderate to higher speed single track but can be a hand full in super low speed singlet rack. I find it to be surprisingly versatile. This is the XC race bike so it really prefers faster pace riding. There is no flywheel weight in this bike. I still have this bike along with a Stark Varg. I like the bike and won't sell it.
Great riding today man. Thanks for sharing the video! Maybe I'll keep it on two wheels next time!
Thanks for running it again with me. You kicked ass sideways down that entire track. Enjoyed it! I lied when I said I'd edit that little crash out.
We got that lap down to almost sub 1 minute. Not too shabby
Awesome!
Thanks man! Was a good time.
This is the best promo video. It makes me want one. I too ride, but KTM 450 2024 6days and CRF 450RX 2021 but something makes me come back to this Electric bike. There is something really intreaging about it .
Its a great experience, so different to a gas bike. I took my 23 Husky FX 450 out to that same trail the previous weekend. There was no comparison. I'll always love my gas bikes but when I have the choice of what to take, I always take the Varg. At a moderate trail pace it will do 34-40 miles of OHV type trail. If I want more time in I bring my generator and charge it on breaks. Honestly though, I'm usually worn out before the bike is out of juice. Everyone who has ever ridden it is blown away by it. Instantly stops a critic and changes their mind.
@@japandrz Than you for your response! I am only worried for the battery if I don't ride it every day, like 10-50 times a year, as every battery it would drop in % capacity. Do you know how much is a new battery? I would really love to get one of these!
@@EddiNice They have come down in price. I think $2500 now. They are good for 1000+ full charge cycles. I have 48 hours on the bike and I have not seen any battery degradation. I charge on a slow rate when the bike is at home. Cost me less that $1 to "refill" the bike. I ride the bike in Hard Enduro, SIngletrack, MX, Double track. I ride it all. The bike is incredibly flexible. Obviously I would not dual sport the bike or take it on a long distance desert ride. For 99% of the riding I do, the range has not been an issue.
@@EddiNice The bike losses very little battery % capacity when turned completely off. When its on stand by mode it will go down about 4% per week. If you store the bike at 50% charge I think the battery will last a very long time
@@japandrz Please post hard enduro videos, as I am considering one for Xmas, as such your videos will help me pull the trigger. Thank you in advance. Subscribed.
Nice rip
Thank you! Perfect weather. You should have come out
Cooking with gasoline out there 💥
Thanks man! Grilling with electrons
Sick run!!!
Thanks man! Have to lose a minute + off it it. Need that Fuller straight line speed in that one section!
This looks like the perfect place to practice my man!
Sweet!
Now with commentary! 😎
Ha! Yeah, I watched my previous videos and figured people would want a little talking about the bike at least. I can't bring myself to stand in front of the camera however.
Perfect. And fast too. I’d ride my 450 there but the spark arrester is caput
Thanks man. Bring that ol 450 out!
Just did that trail today. It was absolutely insane. You gotta have balls of steel to ride there. We made it all the way to the big drop after the staircase where all the boulders are. I honestly thought we were gonna have to walk back. And then just grit my teeth and sent it. Can't believe I made it out. Lmao
Oakey gets more and more gnarly each year. Its very challenging for an OHV. The lake side is more tame but people get caught in the Clarkesville side. Glad you made it out ok! Ive got several videos up of the more challenging sections.
...and the video doesn't show just how steep and pure rock it is!
@japandrz totally agree. It doesn't look crazy on video but when you're on 3 wheels sideways, or riding the edge of the embankment, trying to keep out of those HUGE ditches it's pretty nerve wracking. I've ridden 4wheeler almost all my life, but that's way above my pay grade. Especially when we got caught in that big ass storm yesterday. Those hill climbs turned into rivers. And the big mud hill climb where it's like 4 separate hills one after another those ditches were 1ish foot deep on the way in, but from the rain they were almost 2ft deep. Haha
Sick run bro!
Thanks man!
Sweet trail
This single track look cool
Thats behind Strawberry Hill MX!
I will be trying this track coming up soon. I heard it is a lot like the Cut Mx, but bigger.
Strawberry Hill has been closed. Not sure if/when it will reopen.Has some woods trails there too! Fun times
@@japandrz Oh, I had no idea it was closed.
guys that ride electric Dirtbikes are the same ones that drive electric cars 😂😂
Except that I don't drive an electric car. Either a bike is good or its not. The Varg is very, very good.
@@japandrz I was just kidding haha I’ve herd good things about those bikes. It seems to do good on the trails
@@lukeraymond4030 All good man. I've ridden gas bikes for 30 years. Still have my 450 etc. The Varg is excellent. I wasn't a believer myself until I rode it. I let people take it out sometimes and every single person has been blown away by it. I bought the bike for straight performance, I'm not an EV guy. Charge the thing off a gas generator😂
It’s a good looking bike
This trail looks awesome
How did the battery hold up?
About 35 miles at this pace. Pretty good. About the same I would ride my gas bike out there.
@@japandrz that is about 3 full loops. That’s not too bad.
@@TeknaTronik It'll just make the 3 loops at a 25 minute/full loop pace. Thats about all the energy I have riding my 450 out there as well. It does very well. Its too short of range for a afternoon Pro GNCC but other than that I haven't had alot of range issues with the bike.
@@japandrz I am running about the same amount. 3 loops on the 450 I am seriously thinking about this stark as my next bike.
@@TeknaTronik Are you local to the area? The varg is an amazing bike. I really haven't ridden a gas bike since I got it. Ive run everything from Moto to Hard enduro on it.
The stark is a sweet bike
Thanks for the ride today great bike
Anytime man! Glad you liked it
That bike rips! Totally blow away by it!
It was really freaking dusty.
Hell ya it was! Good time overall, that sand really threw most people
it threw me a few times the first lap lol
Me too man! I probably wrecked 5-6 times
i wrecked 5 lol
but i won my class so its ok
