    Your video is great! I was told that I should be able to feel the egg. I couldn't feel it. I treated my chicken for egg binding anyway. It turned out to be a large, soft egg without a shell.

    • @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon
      @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon 10 дней назад

      Happy to hear it. Sometimes eggs will form without a shell not very often but sometimes. All you can do is try and do what is best and let nature take its course. Try to feed your chicken a little bit of calcium and some food that is high in protein, make sure they have plenty of freshwater and things should be OK. Or at least that is what one hopes thanks for watching.

    YEARS AGO, I worked for a co where I would setup businesses with a modem so they could make credit card sales over the modem. I said this was YEARS AGO. I quickly learned the phone co NEVER remove any old wires. It was their practice to just pull in a new phone wire to the phone and leave all old wires in place. Whatta mess. The worst I found was an EXXON station where I counted 21 abandoned phone circuits. I HATE leaving a sloppy mess behind me. FUNNY STORY- One time I found a SHELL station and in the phone connection box was the line for the phone booth on the corner off of the property. Im guessin the station owner had been paying the phone booth monthly phone bill. He was going to check it out with the phone co. !

    • @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon

      Exactly that is my feeling exactly. Leaving one excess wire is one thing but leaving many many behind it amplifies whatever problems arise in the future. It’s time-consuming, but it’s worth it. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you for your video I followed your advice. Not sure if my Delaware hen, was egg bound or suffering from vent gleet. She was lethargic, not laying, her vent was pulsing, and her rear end was swollen with runny feces. I started treating her on aTues., it wasn't until the following Tues. that she laid a thin shelled egg that I found broken in the tub that morning. Each day I gave her scrambled egg, cottage cheese, crushed cashews, mashed chicken pellets in separate bowls for her to chose from. First day or two I held the food up for her to eat from, just so I knew she had eaten. I gave her a cereal sized bowl of water with tsp honey, capful apple cider vinegar and a dash of sea salt. I kept her in the bath tub with curtain drawn and a low pot filled with straw for her to nest on. I kept a light on to simulate day light and turned it off at night. I lined the bottom of the tub with puppy pee pads for ease of cleaning as needed. When the weather was nice I brought her outside for some sun and fresh air to walk around in the grass for about 15 min. Even took her down to the chicken run to visit her sisters. She was more interested in looking for bugs. LOL I gave her epsom salt soaks daily for the first week and lubricated her vent with coconut oil each day. After a week I kept her vent clean with warm water rinses as needed. It is not Sunday almost 2 weeks of treatment and she is looking so much better. Her feces has formed into a ball again. She vocalizes again. I am waiting until she lays a second egg before I return her to her flock. Your video was a Godsend!

    over crowded. no wonder no eggs. they eat mosquitoe, no need for net

    • @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon
      @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon 5 месяцев назад

      No, they are not overcrowded. They have four rooms plus a large play area to hang out. The problem is that the chicken coop sits next to the rice field which get flooded and therefore plenty of mosquitoes. So the chickens take the mosquitoes as a chance to peck and play at the same time. Get some good protein. So the net really helps control the number of mosquitoes in the chicken coop. Too many mosquitoes and they get sick and die. Thanks for watching.

    my hen who is about 2 years old is having symptoms of egg bound but i see no visible egg but she is squirting out a little bit of whiteish poo

    • @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon
      @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon 6 месяцев назад

      It is possible, but very unlikely that your chicken is egg bound. As far as the white poop it is part of the regular normal poop. You should, however treat your chicken for possible parasites. Add some vitamins and calcium. Make sure she is drinking and eating like she normally did. Chickens are very quick to get sick to die or many other changes. If you are really concerned, you might want to take her to a vet. Good luck thanks for watching.

    Most well pressure tanks have an air bladder in them which helps even out the pressure in the system and keeps the pump from rapid cycling. It sounds like either your pressure tank lacks an air bladder, or it needs maintenance.

    • @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon
      @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon 9 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your comment. I had the water pump checked out and it’s in good working order. The only other thing that could be was a leak in the supply pipes to the house. We recently had a 7.9earthquake and after this, it started cycling, I did not want to dig up the pipes because I needed to break the concrete over them, therefore the pump was the first thing that needed to be checked. Finding that it was good I had no choice but to open up the concrete and check the pipes. There was a 1 inch pipe supplying water to the kitchen that had a pinhole. I imagine that during the earthquake, there was a small twisting of that 1 inch pipe since it went through concrete into the kitchen and a small pinhole was created. Of course we had to dig in several areas to verify that the pipes were good. Once I repaired the pipe, the system was in good working order. Thanks for watching.

    Maybe you can use pond liners?

    • @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon
      @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, you can use liners. The problem becomes that due to the amount of fish that I was putting there poop would accumulate very rapidly. Plus, because there is a lot of rust in the water that also settle to the bottom and the layer at the bottom of the tank Would get very deep very quick. Thank you for your comment and it would definitely work. Thanks for watching.

  • @Sugoiworld
    @Sugoiworld 10 месяцев назад

    It's a pity, why didn't you cement the pond then "dirt" it?

    • @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon
      @JustLivingWithGeorgeAndWoon 10 месяцев назад

      The problem with doing that is that you end up with a big cement tank. Therefore, you have to filter the water to keep it clean. Whereas in a pond, there is natural filtration through the bottom soil, unfortunately for us here there was way way too much and it wouldn’t hold water. The first time we were lucky and it did this second time it was a no go.

    I Love my chaya trees, I have several varieties! Unfortunately they all lose their leaves in the long winter dry season here, but are such a very amazing green in the hot wet Florida summers, when not much else grows! iMPORTANT... the cyanide is in ALL parts of the plant including the leaves, it is not just the white latex sap! All parts, including the leaves, should be boiled for at least 5-10 minutes to eliminate the cyanogenic glycosides. The tender tips are entirely edible once boiled, though peeling off the tough outer skin may sometimes be needed. Avoid boiling in aluminum pots as a toxic reaction can occur. pdf.usaid.gov/pdf_docs/PA00K93C.pdf
