Do you think you have what it takes? Then . . . BRING IT! Fight Night In The City 105 S. Main Rochester, MI 48307 ...For additional information please contact Kerry Roop at 248.651.9078
Glad i got to meet him rest his soul
What was the date for this fight? Or at least the year that they fought ?
Poor Joe was soooooo relieved that the fight was stopped. Fighters have never shown much intelligence.
Lewis at 39yrs old. That was considered ancient in sport martial arts. Saw Lewis a few months before he passed away. RIP Master Lewis.
How did Joe look? My friend Frank and I had him in twice for seminars. Joe was a great guy.
Everybody gets beat when new people come along just remember that you are only champion for so long and then you are finished😅
Lewis el Mejor
What month and year was this fight?
sonny liston was what 46, 47 when he first fought ali. How old was Roop? he doesn't look 21
Sonny Liston was only 34 (born in 1930) when he lost the title to Ali (then Clay) in 1964. Liston died at age 40 in 1970-although Liston’s exact birthdate is unknown. In fact, Liston said he was born in 1932 (no official records exist) which would have made him only 32 when he fought Ali in 1964. However, it is generally agreed that he was likely born July 1930.
Fue el Mejor Siempre Joe
Way to go 🏆
Lewis was never a great kicker. His hands were much better.
lewis should have never been in that fight , he was out of shape, too old and had no kicks
I loved training there. Love Kerrry, his mom, chun.. special time in my life
Are there any more videos of Kerry Roop or Brad Hefton anywhere? I fought once in the ring, kickboxing like these two guys. It was quite an experience. The judges said I lost, but I was still standing at the end of the bout. I'd like to see more fights like this one.
Joe - great fighter.
I was glad to see Roop get beat for beating fighting great Joe Lewis only cause Lewis was on in age which takes its toll no matter how good you are.I do have to give Roop props for taking all that punishment and keep going.
Roop's kicks were much better!
Their kicks were rather Lame. It appeared they were only trying to "Get in" the required amount. Joe was definitely past his Prime----didn't look too good.
I give alot, of crédit to Joe Lewis !!! Almost 40 Years old ,and still fighting!!!
I watched this when it first aired. It was sad to see. You could tell the commentators were pulling for Lewis to win. Joe Lewis was and is a legend but like so many great fighters he stayed in the game too long.
Actually no. He stayed very little. He made a come back at 39, and has no more than 20 full contact fights in total. He was good but over rated anyway.
Remember seeing this on pka, miss that time. Roop was great fighter. Maybe age caught up with Joe. He still made a good show.
Kerry Roop Had some utterly amazing kicks he was strong and had great stamina
I meant I sparred him he was a very very nice guy
I met Kerry Roop about 1984 so on Sparta Mauser very good shape he was an awesome guy to miss a PKA days
Joe was one of the best
He didn't want to do that to obi wan he was the only one that would Joe should have retired
These guys where are my heros as a 80s karate kid
Roop didn't beat Lewis, age beat Lewis. Age eventually beats us all. Had Lewis been even ten years younger, Roop wouldn't have lasted two rounds with him.
He could have 5 years younger and would have put Roop in the fight of his life...that was no victory...R.I.P. Joe Lewis a Real Legend.
I agree.Joe admitted he didnt train for this bout,& the age factor probably convinced him to scale back& do exhibitions& such.just ask Sugar Ray Leonard, you gotta know when to scale back& risk danger to your well being.
Daniel Reid, Absolutely !!
He would’ve side kicked and break roops rib cage.
I think had they let the fight continue, Lewis might have pulled through and won with his legendary toughness and harrowing hooks. But you have to give credit to Roop, he fought the fight he needed to and kept up the pressure without sacrificing technique unduly.
RIP Laroy Hopkins. Shot and killed in Baltimore over 20 years ago. He volunteered his time to helping kids stay clear of drugs and other bad influences. He was a true local activist involved in trying to make Baltimore a better place to live. 😢 www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1996-02-08-1996039036-story,amp.html
Kerry Roop was awesome!!!
First time we ve seen Joe Lewis cut badly! Roop put up a good fight, good upper cuts. Lewis already proved himself long ago! Good bout!
Joe Lewis had some of the best footwork, you could tell he trained with Bruce
-ruclips.net/video/UNIwtVe63LM/видео.html start @15:18
what foot work he just came forward & stood still . SorryJoe took a beatdown . Well past his fighting time
yes he used to perform that but his kick is definitely not doing Bruce Lee kick anymore.
What foot work he has no foot work . I watched the last 3 or 4 fights when hes 39 years old and he just comes forward and stands there and he takes a lot of punishment.
Love how Roop's age was omitted from this video at the beginning.
Wow, Roop handed Lewis his ass!
Great announcements, Do you even know which fighter is which? It's kinda important.
Joe, "I'm gettin' too old for this shit.."
Joe was old but at the time Roop was only one to take fight. hefton.benny.kamon. you name em.nobody wanted to be the guy that beat up Skywalker
how do you beat up Skywalker. this fight made people hate Roop but at the time. hefton.the jet.nobody would fight Joe cause he was god
The Jet was a light weight Not close enough to the same weight class as Lewis (Heavy, light heavy range)
Gotta admit I enjoyed watching Hefton beat Roop because of this fight.
he got brain cancer i think, i think all this full contact is fun but has it price. shame rip
Brain cancer has nothing to do with fighting. Joe was hardly beaten in his career. He didn´t take so much hits against the head.
rope guy is a lot younger, you can see he is more lighter on his feet. but Joe is older and has been doing this stuff since the probably late 50's or 60's, of course he will not be as the younger guys are, common sense. see mcgregor when he is 40 in the ufc against the younger men will be a laugh. Still even if Joe lost he still my favorite, I just like his tuffness and him.
Joe has brilliant jab
I saw Kerry Roop several times. My older brothers (Jeff and Jon) fought out of his gym. What an amazing role model Kerry was for his fighters in and out of the ring.
kerry do your elbows hurt now in your old age ? mine do from sparing with brad we used 26 oz gloves and when i would be trying my hardest to hit brad or ricky hanes id often miss my target and the weight of the 16 oz glove would over extend my elbow and now i cant even straighten my arm to full capacity or extension would be a better use of words
Great footage Kerry Roop! Any old footage of my brother Jeff Coville?
LOL I miss read ..I thought Poop vs Lewis
wow. Roop is really popping Lewis with kicks and punches. Tough fighters.
Roop schooling Lewis.
Joe Lewis was already 40 years old at the time.
nico merker Lewis shredded in the face look at his jawline
brads my boy , but i gota give roop props for hanging in there , taking heftons hits , aint no joke ,hefton hits like a freight train,im knoin ,luv ya brad
