What Mapleton Canyon Trail Looks Like After Pipeline Project
Просмотров 170Месяц назад
Mapleton Canyon Trail has been closed all of 2024 for a pipeline and road construction project. I accessed the trial from the Hobble Creek side, to see what it looks like now. The lower part of the trail has changed quite a bit. They have taken out a lot of trees and the trial is pretty wide. Hopefully it will grow in quickly! See what it looks like now. I check out the right and left fork of M...

Doing some trail clearing with the 20 Volt Bauer Chainsaw. Upgraded with a 14" Oregon bar and chain, which helps cut through bigger trees. Dirt biking on the Gas Gas EX 300. I'm using the Bill Dart Chainsaw Rack. The battery saw is no replacement of a gas saw, but it sure is nice to carry and not have to worry about pull starting, gas, and finnicky carbs! It works well for some lighter trail cl...

Awesome video!
@rockymountainrory Thanks, Rory! We get to ride some awesome county!
Yall need a folding silky saw
I've had my eye on those. I do carry a Carona folding saw. It's good up to about 10". When we are expecting a lot of deadfall, I bring an actual chain saw with a 14" bar! What size of Silky do you carry, and what's the biggest tree you've cut with it?
@forestman9205 I have the big silky and I've cut a 12" maple it took a long time but it will cut anything.
Great footage! Great color too. Do you mind sharing what camera you are using and if you do color grading in post? It looks awesome.
@HDeeGardiner Thank you! Yes, I do color adjustments in post, depending on they way the clip looks. I'm still using the Gopro hero 7 black. I have the stabalization turned on as well.
@ I use the same camera. Sometimes I record with Protune and do color grading, but usually I just use GoPro color. My color looks very dull compared to yours.
@HDeeGardiner I use the protune setting. My footage normally looks dull before color grading, too.
Nice edit!
AWESONE TRAILER! Apparently I need to up my trailer game! haha!
Sweet edit
Part of me thinks this looks like fun , but I need to be honest with myself . I probably don't have the skills to ride those skinny ridges !
Riding the ridhes does take a bit of precision, being light on the controlls. I found myself being a bit tense riding them, and quickly realized that stamding up is the best position to keep good balance.
Now that looks like a fun day! With how much the cameras take away from the intensity of terrain and how good this still looks it must be amazing in person.
Yes, the camera does seam to flatten things out a bit. The terrain is quite interesting, making the riding quite interesting!
Man I miss the west coast dirtbike riding. Riding the spines /Ridgebacks were so much fun. Ride that bowl!😮 That looked fun🎉 excellent video I loved it. Brought me back to my early 20s in Southern California /desert riding
@eastwood4006 I'm glad you enjoyed it! The West Coast is amazing for dirt biking!
Man, I tell myself this all the time, but I have got to get down to ride this area. Looks like a blast. Nice riding. Keep ripp'n!🤘
Yes, it's worth the trip! It's quite an interesting place to ride, and it's all free ride area, so you can go anywhere you want to. This is the first time I've been there, and we had a great time..... minus the loop out lol.
What a crazy ride
Never Follow Ricky
It can be a dangerous endeavor!
Such a fun place. “Don’t follow Ricky” haha
@rcarle Yes, it can be very dangerous following that guy!
Every trail should have a filter lol 🤣
@TheCarlejoseph Thats funny! Agreed.
Never ridden that area yet. Looks nice.
@travisryan1695 It's one of my favorites for a quick burn. It used to be a lot better before they made it a paved highway!
That’s pretty neat
Thank you for putting the effort to make the trails more enjoyable for everyone. 👏👍
Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
That was a good wheelie Greg.
It was wheelie fun! lol
Good work Greg. I’m going to nominate you for an award.
Looks nice
I hope you are turning those logs across the trail so we have some good obstacles to challenge us.
I live in Challis and it's cool to see other guys enjoying the trails. I feel lucky to have such good riding so close to home. Great video!
Y'all have some epic trails there! I might have to move, haha.
Looks like a blast! Braxton is going to be faster than you soon Greg.
@rcarle He was rippin' that day. Too bad my camera died early on.
Riding Saturday. You got me pumped. Most trails close after this weekend
@HeAdChEeSe1983 Yes, you've got to enjoy them while they are open! Have a good ride.
@@forestman9205 We are riding Cinnamon to Lizard lakes on the other side of the canyon
@HeAdChEeSe1983 love that ride!
Are you in Gallatin County?
@@HeAdChEeSe1983 once a year, i wish more!
Did you start on porcupine or portal creek? Ive ridden to ramshorn and the loop but never up to portal
@HeAdChEeSe1983 We started at Portal Creek on this ride. We've done it both ways. It think my favorite is from north to south.
What hand guards are you running on the gas gas?
@HeAdChEeSe1983 Enduro Engineering. I've been happy with them. They have met the ground many times.
@@forestman9205 Ok I have a te300 and have had 3 kind and I haven't liked any of them.
LOL as I was watching I was thinking you missed your turn🤣
Indeed, I normally come down this trail. Gives it a different look! :)
I Love the scenery and it looks like a fun ride. Thanks for sharing.😊
Definitely the better day of that trip. Cool trails.
@@travisryan1695 Video trickery, this was from day 1, lol.
@@forestman9205 Awe, just putting the good parts in huh?
@@travisryan1695 yesir
That’s an awesome area! We just rode over there today.
Looks like Willow Creek around June. Love that area if it is
We love that trail!!
@scottpurcell2813 It's a great one!
Looks like a fun day! Is that an ex300 or ec300? TBI?
Great day! It's an EX 300 TPI, with a Two Stoke Performance ECU tune and a High Compression head with a dual map switch. I went up one tooth on the rear sprocket.
We went down big burns and up little burns when we were in the big hole mtns earlier this summer. Damn, big burns looked tough to go up! That trail was steep and loose! Nice job!
@workmanracingandadventures sounds like you had a better route! We have never been there and didn't know what to expect. That was supposed to be our warn up day one ride, hahaha. We certianally got warmed up fast!
@@forestman9205 haha, yeah I bet!! That was our first time too, we just got lucky with our choice. Let me tell you though, little burns was no joke! It had 3 sections that were full on hard enduro. My husband and I had to help each other through, too far above our pay grade to ride. The consequences were too high with just the 2 of us. We felt like badasses once we were through though 😆.
@workmanracingandadventures That's awesome! Glad you made it safe!ly So, you must have ridden Little Burns from west to east??
@@forestman9205 thanks! Yes, we did it west to east. We did a super long ride that day. Went down big burns, went to the trailhead of hell hole canyon, then up hell hole and down coal mine canyon, then up little burns, then down Fleming. Epic ride!
@workmanracingandadventures Nice! We wanted to ride Hell Hole, but it didn't work out. Fleming looks to be a steep and exposed mother, too. How was it?
Beautiful over there

We just rode our first trails in Montana this week! Absolutely incredible! Thanks for sharing!
@workmanracingandadventures Aweome! There is some great stuff up there!
Great scenery on 2 wheels. It doesn't get much better than this! Thanks for taking the time to record, edit and post. It is greatly appreciated. 😊👏
@cathy2128 Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying the vids!
Holy crap dude this one looks awesome. Just the right amount of rock in the right places to make it fun!
Who's that guy that cannot cross the creek?
That was James Stewart. He was attempting to Bubba Scrub the river bank. Normally, he can pull it off at break neck speed!
Nice ride
Love water crossings!
It was a fun and wet one!
My grandma could make that
Congratulations internet warrior!
We are currently traveling through Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. Any interest in getting together for some riding?
@@workmanracingandadventures I won't be in the area, but thanks for the invite.
Looks like some technical fun stuff!
amazing
What a sweet trail!! Looks like a blast!
Love the video. What mods have you made to the bike? Sounds like it runs good.
@GNR325 Its a TPI and has a Two Stroke Performance ECU Tune, a high compression head, map switch, and I normally run it in the "less hot map". The pipe is a bit loud right now. I need to repack the silencer.
@@forestman9205 That would explain it. Looking at a '23 leftover EX300. Much cheaper than a new TBI.
Yes, they are! I've really liked this bike. Some TPI''s run great. Some need a little love like mine did. There is quite a bit of info out there that can help you dial them in, though, and would still be cheaper than a new TBI.
@@forestman9205it's funny that you have the tune and run it on the soft map. I have a 23 husqvarna te300 and my map switch broke and I don't miss it. I just leave it on hot. I geared mine down though it had 13 50 and I run 12 52. 1st gear is now unstable. Like most things I own the bike surpasses my ability.
Another great ride!
