I had this toy and the reproductions are colors are always off. This one actually looks like a legit one because it is the dark purple color not that bright pink purple color. Also the original had something that a lot of toys from back then had. It had a glittery effect inside the plastic to were it shined a little in the light while turning it over.

Back in the 80's this was like perfectly designed valkyrie. The smoked brown canopy in combination with the clean lightgray clean surface looks very awesome. It is built like a tank, just like Gakken's 1/35 Legioss. Yes the blockyness makes it more appealing to me, compared with the slender ones from recent designs.

Is it feasible to disAssemble if needed?

I just picked this up for ¥5,000 here in tokyo. Growing up in japan these shows were awesome. They ran from 6pm to 8pm something for everyone. The girls had candy candy the boys had grendizer. It was a Funtime to grow up in japan in the 70’s and 80’s. The TV giant robot thing died out in 1989, But I still cherish the memories. Now I’m back things are different Japan is still absolutely wonderful but I’m not a fan of the current anime. anime on local channels is all but disappeared replaced by news shows. A few light ones for little kids but that’s it.

I may end up buying a K.O Shockwave. I’m not willing to spend $1000 a authentic version.

First, the stickers on the original were pre applied, which I prefer. Second, the holes in the gun are were the headphones are stored when he was a working radio in the Micro Change line in Japan.

I recently got one of these and the box was all beat up. Thankfully I got a refund on this and the toy itself was fine.

Im including information on 3rd party usb controllers and usb hubs that do or do NOT work on this to avoid us paying HORI/KONAMI more $ than we already have with he console and only 1 controller. Updates today and yesterday: Today: @Generational Gamer tried the retrobit genesis mini controller whose D PAD did not work and a genesis mini controller that didn't work at all. @VGPlayer and haters got working a retrobit 2.4gz sega saturn controller, which synced and the select, run, i, ii buttons all worked but the directional pad did not work. Also tried 2 usb hubs and several usb controllers, none worked. @Ray Commend tried anker 4 port usb hub and onvian 3 port usb hub, neither worked. Yesterday: @VGplayers and Haters Thank you for responding! @Outer Heaven says in his video that he tested 4 controllers and found 1 that works, in the comments section he told me that he found a second that works and will be uploading a second video. @Mind the Game replied to me in the comments section of his video that he tried the sega genesis mini 6 button controller (by retrobit) but it didn't work... which i also tried and had the same conclusion until i saw the end of the unboxing video by ( @KristenSteps ) @StepsDoGaming tried that same controller and find that one of the buttons does work... I tried again and realized it does I just didn't try that button before. @RayCommends got same response from retrobit sega genesis mini 6 button controller but nothing from other controllers or 3 usb hubs but is trying more. @Patton plays says t cant be done, it's too hard to get the console and waiting for hack. @Scarlet sprites says it may damage console so isnt trying. @Madlitlepixel says there have been reports of damaged consoles when trying third party usb controllers so people are hesitant to try... I asked for links to sources as havent found anything online anywhere... only madlittlepixel on Twitter saying same thing on April 1. I have my own experience with 4 3rd party controllers and 1 usb hub which didn't work (except sega genesis mini 6 button controller by retro bit and only the one buton)... but my console wasnt damaged... so I would like to know where online there are reports of damage??

For people saying the $40.00 is too much, my logic is if you try to get a loose actual 80s version or even boxed, you're looking at hundreds of dollars. And it still wont come close to the condition of this new re-issue. Also , don't forget about inflation. Back in the 80s this toy probably sold for 10-15 bucks. Add 35 years worth of inflation and the 40 dollars this re-issue costs seems more than fair in my book.

I missed out on the first release (and GX-40 prices were getting insane) so I've been thinking of picking this up but all other vids were not in English. Thanks! I'm hoping Bandai do more Renewals soon while keeping the price increase reasonable - this one's MSRP is roughly 15% more than the GX-40 which isn't too bad considering that one came out in 2008.

I got mine today for $26.99. The Walmart near me either goofed on the price or had it marked down already. I got to admit...I’m a little weary since my Starscream broke after less than a handful of times transforming him (the nose cone/head’s little piece that folds over broke) and I was super careful with him so I’m hoping Astrotrain will be a little sturdier.
