Rodman 1250, launching, boat handling & choppy seas
Launching our Rodman 1250, El Barco at Beaucette Marina, Guernsey, Channel Islands. Heading out the marina we entered the north of the Little Russel, an area known for high tidal rates in excess of 6 knots and large breaking waves even on the calmest of days.

I have an Aquastar 27 pacesetter, from new they should cruise at 11kts and atop speed of 17kts.mine was built in 1992 With a Cummins 6BT 210 hp, single prop, and I can get 15kts,but I have a problem with one of the trim tabs.ps if you do more than 2000 revs on the engine, it drinks diesel !! The Ltrs an hour Below 2000 revs a lot closer to 15 ltrs . It’s the point where the turbo cuts in. Also keep the hull clean! . It can halve your top speed if it’s covered in weed or slime !
how do you rate the 27?
Indie Film pretty high, we’ve had 3 of them. The semi displacement hull is a very good sea boat
I’m thinking about buying one. Have a 30ft full displacement and she’s so solid.
But slow. What do you cruise at and what’s she burn ?
Indie Film we cruised at 12 knots and burnt a fraction under 3 ltrs/ per mile. It was a pretty heavy boat for its size though because of all the fuel, water and waste tanks. A lighter boat with a say 250hp engine would go well
heya i dived with a company called orange shark diving in malta. i was diving some time two months ago and i was doing my openwater advanced and could hear that whining of the motors. me and my dive master ocme out of the bow of the boat and its their watching us, do you know the name of the submarine or the company/ science reserch vestle that owns it?
queef mcneef sorry I’m not sure of the company. Amazing to see though and a strange experience having someone in a sub watching you as your diving
it is i still remember the noise. you dont think about it till you see it and think wow, im being watched...
