NHIF to SHA: Life-Saving Reform or Risky Gamble? | DJ Krowbar Speaks
The transition to Kenya’s Social Health Authority (SHA) was meant to improve healthcare access, but dialysis patients are facing dangerous delays, financial strain, and life-threatening uncertainty.
For those needing more than two dialysis sessions per week, the gaps in SHA’s system are proving costly.
DJ Krowbar shares his personal experience after his wife's dialysis was nearly denied. We also visit NephroMed Dialysis Centre to hear from healthcare providers and patients struggling to navigate the new system.
Was SHA’s rollout too rushed? Are dialysis patients still at risk? Share your thoughts.

Wonderful, God bless you for being our patients advocate. Hoping one day SHA will able to give 3 sessions for patients as NHIF used to do. We are paying more and we expect more and better service. Chronic illness is no joke.

The young generation expect politicians to deliver on their pledges MICROWAVE-STYLE. This generation has no regard for constraints like time and resources. The claim that the young generation is more learned & conscious is questionable because they are known for projecting false confidence, which fools people into thinking that this generation understands the technical stuff that they opine about. Question them critically and they'll fall short, only clinging to slogans & insults when called out for bullshitting. And there's a contradiction in your story...that this generation expects disagreements to be resolved through talking yet you accuse them of burning schools as a way of addressing a tiff with school administration. But to some extent, you've whitewashed the violence of this generation. They are the most violent both physically and verbally. Violent to the extent of digitally putting the president in a coffin and violently attacking those of contrary opinion in what they call "greeting" or "injecting". Is everyone afraid to call out the young generation for all their transgressions?
