Watched this video a lot and you skip key points that makes it not understandable… like one section the “world” tab just appears and the map creator thing is so confusing idk where you get the texture or how you get the box overlay to position the map….
Half to just guess and figure stuff out on my own…
Is it possible to import 80km x 80km maps? (I have it created in Arma3). TnK.
in theory, Just max max out the grid size and then play with cell size untill you get the numbers you want. naturally the larger the cell size the lower detail you will be able to do when sculting the ground

You are in luck, just had to reinstall it after a fresh install of windows, download the .zip file then inside of qgis at the top click plugins-ins -> manage -> install from zip -> and select the zip file you downloaded. then a quick restart of qgis you should be all set
On import height map, dont forget the - so the heightmap will import correctly under the sea level. Thats why it was flat ground where sea was supposed to be

Can you import existing terrain such as Eden and modify it by building new objects then saving? I noticed that Eden is locked in the workbench. Ultimately I'd like to take an existing scenario and tweak it then republish it.

you can set your fox-2's to head track mode and make it easier to get shots off in tricky situations. also, in you situational awareness MFD, you can tap and drag as if it were an ipad screen to move the view around.

I could not get the Heightmap to export like yours did in QGIS @Jorgo32 it shows the following message: Download from e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov/MEASURES/SRTMGL1.003/2000.02.11/N45W080.SRTMGL1.hgt.zip. Not sure what that means ?. if i go to that link it says that it can't be displayed.
Make sure you make and account and login with them. You may not have the "permisions" because of it

ive been working on a terrain now since the day the tools were released, so ive had quite a bit of trial and error with the tools. one thing that a few tutorials have mentioned that i didnt do was set up the GenericWorldPPEffect, its laborious, why not just drag in the GenericWorldPP_Default? it sets up the SSR, godrays automatically for you? I also think you should have put -8 (not 8) in the minimum settings, that's why your land is still above sea level at its lowest point
That probably would have created a better shoreline but just shows how carefull you have to and not hurry. You'll scratch your head for hours looking for the answer, ha
I follow everything you do but the moment I get too 3:35 when you pan the camera down to see the blank world I see no terrain what so ever, only the little box with the colored arrows.
This has been a pretty common bug since the last update make sure you validate the files of the tools and the actual game. And launch the game at least once
So after last update the terrain doesn't generate not sure if they broke it or what.
the tools should be fixed by now. three weeks since your post. I am following the video after it was originally posted.
What is the purpose of the satmap? wouldn't it just be covered when you do the terrain painting and adding assets and whatnot?
The sad map is far out textures at some point the textures you paint onto the ground disappear and then a relies on the sat map to fill in the color
The sat map will be for reference only, so you can see where to paint the relevant surface textures and place roads building etc. At some point you will want to replace the original sat map with one you created yourself from the BCR textures and texture masks. this will give a far better end result than keeping your original imported sat image
@@B3060J how would I go about creating a BCR map as right now I still have my satmap which shows a white from a distance.
@@jasondonavich2758 Basically when you have finalised painting surface textures, you will have have to export your surface masks. (you may have done this already) Use these, in conjunction with the BCR maps to create a satmap. To get a BRM map texture to use on it corresponding mask press 'M' whilst hovering your mouse over the desired surface (i.e Pebbles_02)in World Editor. this will bring up that texture in WorkBench. On the right, under Terrain Detail Maps you will see the BCR (i.e Pebbles_02_BCR.edds) left click to open, screen grab the texture. open it in Photoshop, cut the texture out as close to edges as you can, as you are going to tile it. basically then what you need to do is cover your original say map as reference, with all the exported masks and BCR textures. Then re-import as the sat image, you will notice how this improves your map ten fold. i wont go into extreme detail on how to use the mask and BCR textures, as that is basic photoshop work
when i hit create new terrain...nothing appears..its still the same
The last tools update seem to have broke them for a lot of people. Try verifying your tool files and your game files as well as launching your game at least once. Others have had luck with rolling back their tool version
The work around for that is, create your terrain as normal then delete the terrain, then press (Ctrl - z) to undo the delete then your terrain should appear and work as normal. I was having the same issue and given that work around.
@@jasondonavich2758 had the same issue where i generated new terrain and no matter the parameters it would crash the tools, i'll try this later, but if it works you're a saint
@@jorgo322 What option or toolbar do I want when I right click ?. that tool bar you clicked the game terrain button for can't find it anywhere in the right click option to add more tool bars above ?. I can't find it when I right click in QGIS ?.

What is the"Core" dependency that you selected in the beginning?
All the base assets in Reforger/ArmA 4 that comes with Enfusion Engine to help us place down objects, buildings etc. also it has all the necessary assets for map creation.
@@TierOneMilsim I didn't include the core dependency, and I have all the base assets, so I'm not sure what core does.

FYI, BI terrain dev said that grid size cell should be set to 2m.
can you provide a link to this being said or any forums etc ?. i'm curious why they would say that. It's based on map size, height etc. goes for any Game engine map tools.
@@TierOneMilsim I know Blud, a BI dev has said a number of times in the Reforger terrain makers section of their Discord that the Enfusion engine is designed to use a 2m cell size. Since it was Discord, and he said this a month or two ago, I don't have a link.
Thank you for the great Tutorial! Can I use this to make my own terrain map for the DayZ Standalone or is this methode for Reforger only? The question is.. how flexible is the programming in own terrain map to port the map between the Games Arma Reforger /Arma 3 /4/ ..and DayZ?
To my knowledge, importing the terrain from QGIS is about the same process. The other processes are very similar but the Day Z tools are more like the old Arma 3 Tools Which are a lot less user Friendly.

Great tutorial ! Only complaint I have that the letters on your screen are quite blurry, making stuff hard to read.
Thanks for the feedback! I believe its because my streaming software was recording 1080 but my monitor is 2560, I will definitely look to solve that on my next one.
@@jorgo322 it would be the horrible bit rate your recording at and also try upscaling your resolution to 1440p and raise your bit rate to 45000kbps which I would assume would be OBS. for RUclips compression is horrid. on RUclips it's why lots of BIG creators use a much higher bit rate with a more reasonable resolution like 1440p. users can always downscale the res if their internet connection keeps buffering the video.
