TEXAS MILITARY FORCES MUSEUM: LIVING HISTORY WEEKEND 2023
After the war, it was found and acknowledged that the Emperor did not authorize going to war. He had been committed to peace since the beginning. The real instigators of the conflict was Tojo and the Army hotheads who tried to take control entirely; even to the point of attempting a coup against the Emperor himself. McArthur exonerated him of all charges and even agreed to make him instrumental to the rebuilding of the japanese culture and their lives. Historians still debate on the ramifications if the Declaration of War by japan had been on time and the sneak attack hadn't happened at all. Would the US had as much resolve to end the war, or would it have been more lacksidasical in nature? It just goes to prove that, according to Murphy's Law of Warfare, "No plan survives first contact with the enemy." Just as with Rommel of germany, Yamamoto was a true hero of the people and his country and nothing should be allowed to change it.
Good Riddance? Why the sweet music??
Yeah, they have Yamamoto dressed in an Army uniform. The Navy did not put their rank on lapels like the Army did.
He knew the game was up when he saw the fighters
He appears to be thinking about how bad he screwed up at Pearl harbor and Midway.
Where can I watch the entire film?
Poked the wrong bear
You would think that to protect a man like Yamamoto the Japanese would of used more than just 6 fighters.
I love to go to this museum all the time! I even have a 36th ID impression and go to kings hobby lots! amazing video
FAFO
The odds of intercepting his plane were astronomical . Divine intervention .
No, good code breaking.
Nah... Yamamoto went down in flames, screaming in terror... 🔥 It was at that moment, he knew he "F"d up, again...
He could have retired if he felt that strongly about it.

the zero that went after the downed plane of Admiral Yamamoto was as if it was a crying child running after his dieing father.
The real Yamamoto died an honorable death, as well. He was thrown clear from the wreckage, still in his seat, still gripping his katana. He had taken two 50 cal rounds, one through his left shoulder and one through the left lower jaw that exited above his right eye. Both were fatal wounds, and Yamamoto would have been dead long before his aircraft crashed. An honorable enemy and an honorable death. Rest in peace, Isoroku Yamamoto.
Any one knows the complete tail. number of yamamotos Betty . We know the squadron number but not the individual plane one
That wasn't as it happened. There was 2 Betty's, but there was only a few fighters. Both Betty's were shot down along with a couple of the escorts. The other part of it is that the escorts didn't see the Lightnings until they went past them. When the ones went after the bombers, the fighters got attacked by the other Lightnings. The Lightnings had their plan. Some would tangle with the escorts while others went after the bombers. The thing about Yamamoto was that he opposed the war with the US. The emperor opposed the war as well. It was the expansionist Army that wanted the war. The Army knew they couldn't survive if they didn't get the materials they needed. They also knew they couldn't attack someone without getting involved with America. Yamamoto could only guarantee Japan would have 6 months before America would mobilize and fight back. Due to the losses at Midway and Guadalcanal, Yamamoto was on his way down. Being shot down saved him that fate.
Decent enough re-creation of the event, but at 04:40 the Zeros flying top cover would have been behind and MUCH higher than the bombers. And the Zero pilot seeing the Lightnings would have been looking forward and down... and the approaching Lightnings-- as they attacked-- would have been underneath and rising up on their attack run.
The Zero pilots thought an attack would come from above or from the sea.
@@900stx7 It DID come from the sea.
@@shootfirst2097 they did come from the sea but my understanding is when the P38s saw the Japanese the attack itself was over land, from below and behind.
@@900stx7 When the Zero pilots first saw the attackers, they attackers were literally at a 90-degree angle. Lanphier turned LEFT into the Zeros, and at THAT point the bombers WERE ahead of the attackers.
This would equal to the Confederacy losing Robert Lee/and or Longstreet
OPERATION VENGEANCE COMPLETE
He was a learned man and had respect and fear of America's RESOURCES, MILITARY & ENORMOUS ARSENAL & ABILITY TO FABRICATE & SUPPLY THE FLEET & IMPLEMENT GREAT SEA & AIR CRAFT & PERSONNEL. He knew it was a mistake to poke the bear and spin the wheel of military fortune ...... he may not have been stoic as displayed herein ..... but, an honorable man among heathen arrogant militant mindsets ..... all paid a price.

You know it's hard to connect the professional Naval Officers of the Empire of Japan to the more, shall we say evil Japanese Army that ran the prisoner of war camps and their camps that experimented on captured soldiers with the evil shit they did. It's almost like two sides of the Japanese military.
Mothra! Godzilla!
Movie can’t be true to what war and combat are like, civilians can’t cope with it. Saving private Ryan Omaha beach is about the limit for an Audience. That’s just imagining and sound, the taste, smell and feeling the sweet and grim are missing. that’s the 3 D version and the impact to your mind is 4D and beyond
That was not nice at all. 😢😢 Maybe the Zeros didn't let the P-38s get home, and they shot them down.😢😢😢
Yamamoto was a naval officer not an army officer...It is said he was shot before his aircraft hit the ground....he would have not looked pristine...
He suffered a head wound. From a fighter aircraft! So of course, he wouldn't look pristine like this movie depicted. Half of his head would be blown off
The pilot who shot his plane down was an ace - Richard Bang.
Richard Bong, not Bang. He was not that mission. The pilot that was initally credited with shooting down Yamamoto's plane was Captain Thomas Lanphier. Then partial credit was given to Lanphier and Lieutenant Rex Barber. Later historians have given sole credit to Barber, though.
Rest in peace 😢🥀
The only Japanese leader I had any real respect for.
Lol. Japan is still trying to make up for its weak communications security.
Japs should've sent up several decoys with escorts running parallel fight paths 5-10 miles apart.
Lightning!!!
went down like a code broke bitch
Never get into a turning fight with a Zeke.
Much better CGI aircraft footage than for example the movie Midway which was total Carp (sic)!
Well, he maybe ok after crashing into the jungle. Ok, well maybe not.
People say he was against the war however, he took charge of it, he followed through, he prosecuted the war instead of resigning. I don't care how he felt about his role, he did it and he kept doing it. A man has choices. Stop apologizing for a murderer, if he hadn't died in battle the US would've executed him for Pearl Harbor.
Yamamato's pilot should have climbed as high and as fast as he could when they made first visual contact with enemy to make enemy overshoot and give his fighters time to counter attack, and then dive down to low level and hope the enemy runs out of ammo or fuel and buy his fighters time for second attack on attacker`s
Last thoughts … crap I left the water running
The man who shot down Yamamoto's plane was a guy called Rex Barber.
America failed to learn from Yamamoto and lost in Vietnam and Afghanistan.
