When you will be practicing more numericals you will realised which method is easy Actually you can apply anything you like For Voltage division if current is not given and you don't want to calculate current and directly want to calculate voltage then Voltage division will be easy Practice more numericals and try to solve with different methods

7:38 - Why didn't you calculate the parallel resistance so then the total resistance in the circuit would be 10 ohms, and then you do v/r to find current... right?

Voltage across all 2 resistance are same so he will pick one and solve the question
But current will be different..So overall circuit will have a net current
