    I have the identical bike as you but a year older. My fuel pump went out causing it not to start at work one terrible afternoon after a very rough and long day. I bought mine on the used market with 260 miles on it this past May. Apparently there was a recall on the fuel pumps on certain bikes but I hate people touching my stuff and try to fix everything myself and do my own maintenance if I’m capable. After changing the pump out and just this past week also changing to 705’s, I am enjoying the bike and it has almost 3,700 miles on it now. I find myself riding it more often than my Harleys because of the convenience, plus I’m not as methodical about keeping it immaculate like I do the other bikes. I call it my work bike.

    I just my 2024 S with ABS. I’m 6’2” the bike fit’s me fine. Yes they vibrate at high speed. I could not stand the vibration in my hands. Put a pair of Grip puppies on the bike. Got rid of about 70% of the vibration in the hand. Give them a try.

      Not yet @CoastlinesCollide. I may make the change if I end up doing more highway miles in the future, but for now it works fine for the type of riding I do. I'm typically not on the highway for more than 15-20 minutes at a time and usually cruising around 70mph. I like the current amount of torque I get at the lower RPMs, especially in 2nd gear when offroading.

    • @therapyontwowheels8923
      @therapyontwowheels8923 11 дней назад

      Hi @rosarioroberto5825, the bike handles very well around town. There is enough torque to get you off the line quickly on city streets when needed. As long as you don't go full throttle from a stop in first gear, the power surge is very manageable. There will be a little clutch control needed up to about 8-10 mph. From there, you can let the clutch go and shift up to second gear around 20-25 mph. You can twist the throttle all the way in 2-4 with no issues and get a decent amount of torque down low. I like darting around town on this bike and wringing the throttle from light to light.

    Great review. I ride a 2018 model and have done 75,000 km. No doohickey replacement! Fabulous reliable bike that is simple and capable even by today's standards. I don't require any thing more powerful or tech. Look after it with preventive maintenance and it'll look after you. My best after market mods have been taller windscreen with bolt on addition- no buffeting whatsoever at speed and also pivot pegs which allow fab grip offroad and changeability in your foot position as you ride long distance both on and off road. Bark busters and skid plate are good also if taking on anything a bit more challenging. My preferred tires are Motoz tractionator GPS- last forever and good dualsport capability- near zero road noise. Allabest and thanks.

    I think the shop just picked the tire that matched your riding % which like most of is 80/20 > onroad/offroad. There is no way the 705 is better offroad than the OEM tires, especially aired down and are even rated 60/40. But for longevity road riding 705's ARE a great tire for KLR. I had them on a Tiger 800 in the are u are at right now and they got me in deep trouble offroad too many times that I replaced them with 805's, and to my surprise the 805 was better on road and offroad even quieter cuz softer. But the rear was gone by 3k miles so thats their downside vs the 705. I see Dunlop Trailmax Mission went almost same design as 705 but for 2x the price.

    I spend all this time doing research for bags and trying to see what fits my bike.... I make a decision to buy these bags. They show up today. I just RUclips a video just to see what other people think. Maybe a install video... You're telling me the first video I click on (This one) The same bike as mine CTX700 I was wondering if these fit without brackets behind them to keep them away from the rear wheels?

    • @therapyontwowheels8923
      @therapyontwowheels8923 4 месяца назад

      They do, but you need to tighten them up a bit more than normal to pull them up higher on both sides without the brackets. I made the mistake of having them too low on my first few rides and the tires started burning a whole through one of the bags. Just tighten those straps up so the bags sit a little higher and you will be fine.

      @therapyontwowheels8923 8 месяцев назад

      @danledbetter9535 that sounds like a fun trip. These tires should have no problem with a 5,000 mile trip, depending on the terrain. I'm only at about 1,500 miles on mine (~70% on road/30% off road), but there are no signs of wear on either tire yet. Many of the gen 3 KLR forums I have seen have stated a minimum of 6-7,000 for the rear and 10k+ for the front. The hot weather in the summer may decrease these numbers a little bit if doing a lot of pavement riding.

      I 100% agree with your experience. It definitely has shorter first and second gears. I got into the habit of shifting out of first gear around 50 kmph, and second gear around 70 kmph. It can be a bit abrupt when shifting around redline, which comes way too early in my opinion. Mid range around 3,500 to 5,000 rmp has plenty of power and torque in 4th and 5th gear (which is where this bike loves to be), but I would love to have more top end in each as well.

    Thanks for sharing. Got the same bike as yours about 2 months ago except it's the DCT, love the bike and looking at adding a few things here and there. I'm back to riding after about 25 years off, love it! I'm 6'3", 32 inch inseam. How is the seat pad working out for you?

      The seat pad gave me at least another 2-3 hours of riding compared to riding around without it. Definitely comes in handy on those long haul trips over 3-4 hours of riding.

    I would also say, make sure you add extra time if you’re going to ride instead of drive. Putting on your gear, going slower (than a car), not switching lanes constantly. Add 15-20 minutes to your commute.

      Great tip @Kevin C. Hopping into a car and driving off takes all of about 10 seconds. Taking off and putting on gear, especially in winter when you're all layered up, definitely adds significant time to that process. Whenever I plan a longer day trip I always forget to account for this added time. It can realistically add a full hour to a day trip just taking off/putting on gear.

    Fellow Nevadan, by way of Chicago, but been here 16 yrs in Reno, also a huge e-Bike enthusiast, I have 3 totally different e-Bikes for different uses. I just bought a insta360 x3 2 weeks ago, was planning on uploading content, but can't figure out how to edit, I'm 47 & didn't grow up learning computers from birth like kids now do. 😂 Gained a new sub! 👍 By the way, what are you riding? #battleborn775/702

      It's always nice to hear from a fellow enthusiast. I'm riding the G-Force ZM fat tire electric bike. Before I started making videos, I was riding off-road on a Suron Light bee X. That thing was a beast off-road, but it is basically an electric dirt bike. The G-Force ZM is good, but not meant for serious off-road use. This was my first time trying it out in the dirt.

    nice! are there any close gas stations i’m scared to run out of gas and also scared to strap a tank to my mt03 lol

      If you’re coming from Vegas there is a Chevron gas station at the beginning of the Valley of Fire Hwy right off the 15 freeway. Only 25 miles to the White Dome Trail which is as far as you can go. Should be no problem with the MT03. If you want a more scenic route from Vegas I have also traveled up and around Lake Mead where there is a Sinclair gas station near Echo Bay (closed on the weekends though unfortunately).

    Why did you mount them backwards?

      Lol didn’t even notice. They worked just fine after I put them on that way so I never gave it a second thought. Just switched them around to see which way I like better.

      Awesome. They are surprisingly sturdy and can be adjusted to fit on almost any bike. Easy to put on and pull off the bike within 30 seconds or so.

      @@therapyontwowheels8923 Thanks again! I just ordered a set, and picked up some materials to make some pannier supports to keep them off my tail fairing and exhaust.
