I entered Covenant while some raiders attacked, I killed the raiders, and I just entered. No test, I was just allowed, no Honest Dan bloke either.

So I need to join all factions before killing Kellogg, complete all BoS quests until reaching Show No Mercy, do all the Randolph Safehouse missions for the RR, then use the MM to gain access to The Institute? Correct?

This quest will cause the brotherhood to literally show no mercy, and go from only attacking super mutants to raiding human settlements." do you mean don't accept no "show no mercy" and not complete it or accept the mission and complete it but don't do any other quest?

I found covenant and they let me in without me having to do the test (I have already completed the main campaign with the brotherhood of steel if that has anything to do with it) and I can't find Mr. Dan so he can give me the human error quest, any help?

You have to find the password to the terminal in the building in front of you when you enter covenent

You don't need to go to the caravan, the quest can be completed nearly entirely from Covenant.

There is little thing that i should point out that makes this process a little faster in my opinion First of all have a fainted pokemon with the ability compoundeyes first in your party (even if the pokemon is fainted its ability will still work if first in the party) because this ability increases the chances of finding pokemon with items in the wild.Then have a pokemon with the ability frisk (for example your Noibat) in the 2nd slot of your party, that way that pokemon will come out first by default.i find this method pretty useful in my opinion its like killing two birds with one stone. hope this helps
