Weekly Update on our Homestead. We said Goodbye to our Labrador Retriever
We sadly had to say goodbye to our Labrador Retriever Cammi as she not only had hip dysplasia but also progressive congestive heart failure.
I worked in vet med for over 25 years and losing one of your own doesn’t make it easier. She lived to be 11 and got to spend the past few years living with her littermate.
We tried to hatch out a few fertilized eggs but since our broody hen didn’t sit on them like she should, I don’t think any chicks will hatch.
We’re starting to prepare for winter on our homestead as we know it’s coming soon.

I found your comment on a video you commented on 2 months ago called "How Much RUclips Paid Me For 1,000 subs in 2024" by Channel Makers. I would have never discovered your channel haven't you never made a comment. The reason I'm saying this is because when you comment on other people's video you are essentially promoting your own channel. You'll be surprise how many people will click through to your channel, especially if you are providing something of value in that community. Good luck with everything.
@@FinancialRoosterHack Thank you for this ❤️
Trying to hold off till mid-Nov but we live in Texas so not too much of a stretch

What is bumble foot??
Bumble foot is a term used for a skin infection on their foot. Soaking it in epsom salt helps decrease the swelling in their foot

O nooo
Question: can it still hatch? Or is it a bad egg?
@@flutterhigh5257 normally these are either early eggs when a hen starts to lay eggs or a chicken isn’t getting enough calcium. If this egg were fertilized it could turn into a chick as long as the exterior didn’t break, if we incubated it could have turned into a baby chick.
Not to be weird or anything but dose it taste any different? Or does it like peel better when you boil it?
@@leebenton6195 usually when we see eggs like this we don’t eat them. I’m not sure if I could open it
Is there a reason why you dont eat then? I mean there still egg or is it because there just weird?
@@leebenton6195 there isn’t much of a shell to crack the egg. We’ve never eaten these but I suppose one could.
So 😍
Pure love and joy. Thank you for sharing.
New subscriber
You' ve just got a subscriber from Africa. Also a new RUclipsr. All the best with your journey.
@@my_warm_Africa thank you so much! I have a few subscribers from Africa! One used to live in VT.
Hi! I just found you and subscribed. RUclips suggested this video in my feed 😊 I grew up on an off grid homestead in Alaska and its neat to see other people doing this lifestyle off grid as well. I just recently started my own homesteading channel and its in the itty bitty growth stages. I am looking forward to seeing how your monetization journey goes. Also looking forward to your goat videos 😂 I dont have goats yet but maybe someday 😅
@@SimpleCarolinaHomestead thank you ❤️. I’ve been living off grid 4.5 years. It’s not always easy but wanted to show it can be done and can be rewarding.
@@SimpleCarolinaHomestead a thank you for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it! My channel is small but it’s also just about sharing the off grid lifestyle. I also subscribe to your channel ❤️
@VermontHomesteadAdventures Thank you for the support! 🥰
Hi Angie, I introduced myself in an earlier video but I am a South African currently living in Cambodia. I went to Connecticut in 1995 to work on dairy farm through Global Cow, in Brattleboro. It didn't work out but I spent 7 months in Putney working at the Putney Inn. I had the best time and wish that I could have stayed forever. Whereabouts is your farm?
Update on Week 2 of the journey to monetize.
Learn about our new addition to our farm! I go over tips on how to merge a new kid to a herd.
Hi, I am from South Africa but have been living in Cambodia since 2015. Back in 1995/6, I lived in Putney, VT. I am happy to have found your channel!
Aw thank you, I used to live closer to that area years ago but am now near central Vermont ❤️❤️

That wood pile is way too close to the house. Susceptible to carpenter ants, termites and beetles
@@noahg47 yes it is close to the house, you’re right. Termites are not an issue where we live. My husband has a bad shoulder so keeping the wood pile closer to the house was for us a better option. We haven’t had an issue with Abby’s or other bugs as we have chickens that help eat bugs 🐛
Puppy in the window 🥺♥️

Hi Angie, first time watching your channel!! I notice your goats don't have horns. Did they ever have horns?? I enjoyed your video, thankyou. ❤ ❤ 😊
@@stephenhenson2819 hi Steven! Welcome to our channel! Our goats came to us disbudded before we got them. This is typically done when they are less than 3 weeks old before the horns attach to their skull. Both breeders of our Nigerian Dwarf goats and Tennessee Fainting Goat did that prior to us getting them as that was their breed standard.
How precious 🐐
