Honestly you and others your age are strange. You have more disposable income than 2008 to 2011 from the fc. Even counting inflation. Just you demand higher lifestyles, gadgets and tech. You also have more than during great depression. But Americans live for today, rarely for tomorrow. University, car house, weddings most can't pay in cash. But asians can. Same for international students. They get no loans but pay for schooling.

Nothing in this vid is related to the WEF Great Reset. The Great Reset includes promoting "stakeholder capitalism" and a license/subscription consumer model. I leave it to the curious reader to research what these actually would be. Neither would impact job futures. Much more to the point is that companies used to plan for lifelong commitments to quality and workers. Now they all dance to millionth of a second computerized stock trading. Staff mobility has most often resulted in a big downturn in organizational effectiveness. Online meetings to talk about what was talked about in the preceding meetings are a scourge. The international tech I work in years ago bought a high-performance U$ business. Since then, they have done all they could to destroy that performance, lately insisting branch offices send 1/3 of engineering, programming, and graphic work to India. "It's legal."

I am an Indian i was working in technical support i was laied off in may still can't find job that pays even the same amount i was getting in my last job . Now they are calling office so if i take a job with lower salary in a metro city that means i can hardly pay the bills

Outsourced myself in the post .com crash in 2003. Patent attorney and had worked for an optical networking startup after IPOing in another optical networking startup and briefly returning to my old job at the Patent Office (love being a patent examiner, don't love the government). So, now I am in Taiwan after Japan and HK, write patent applications on Li batteries, nanomaterials, and semiconductors (and random one-off types of inventions for Hong Kong universities and research groups). My business partner and I now have our own gig and our patent applications are written in either English or Chinese and filed in both US and China. At 60, no way could I get a job back in the US because the health insurance costs too much (public health here in Taiwan). Works out better for me, this is more of the tech I do and like, US is far too dominated by software while semiconductor fab, battery fab, nanomaterials, even lots of biotech is very common in Asia. Was not part of my life plan but, hey, whatever, it's where I ended up. Make less money than US but cost of living is much lower as well.

The main reason for layoffs was annonced by Jerome Powell in 2022. If noone has money the inflation will decrease to zero.

I am so happy I do not have any dependants. 😅 I can leave the country till the better times 😂

It could work in your favor. If they're willing to give you a title like "senior" or "lead" without pay, I'd take it, work a few months, and then find another senior level job with an actual pay increase.

💯% correct! As a business major I can tell you that the biggest expense of any company is not the product, not even the office, but it's labor (aka employees). That's right, we are a line item on a spreadsheet. Therefore, it's to the company's advantage to disguise the true nature of PIPs, because they don't want you panicked and running out the door before they are ready to fire 🔥 you. PIP is just a fancy term for "write up" (I even worked for a company once that called these "coaching memos"! 🤣🤣). PIP sounds less threatening, but is just as dangerous. So I agree: if you're on a PIP, they've already made up their mind to get rid of you and you won't be changing their mind. It's best to leave on your terms, not theirs. 😉

Literally half a million tech workers laid off!!? WTF explains why I can't even get interviews for help desk jobs despite having a bachelors in Cyber Security, certifications and even internship experience. What more do these greedy ass companies want!?!?!? Going up against this much competition in light of all the layoffs is SO depressing and my education feels all useless. Not like I majored in gender studies, philosophy or anything.

This doesn't feel like a correction. 5 resumes sent would at least get me a phone interview.

I have been working in tech for over 20 years. I am now unemployed and looking forward to my new future. I have decided to re-skill and learn how to be a breakfast cook. I like early mornings and the smell of bacon. I realize there will be a 90% pay cut and no medical insurance but a least there will be job security.

Because of covid and real estate investors making housing totally unaffordable just before I was ready to buy, I'm essentially 4-5 years behind on my plans to own a home. I'm not stretching myself thin on a 400K house only to be underwater on it in the upcoming recession.

pretty simple. 30-40 years ago, 1 worker could afford a family of 3-5 and own a house and food. somewhere along the line the govt sold the country out to the corporations who stifled wages and destroyed every aspect of our lives whether it be healthcare, housing, utilities and food. Corporate capitalism has destroyed this country and the sad part is that they have successfully brainwashed republicans into continuously voting against their best interests and basically doing free propaganda for them. When America was in its "golden age" the corporate and wealthy tax rates were over 50%.......republicans want to "make America great again" yet wont look back when it was "great" and see what was different.

I was given a major responsibility of basically doing work for some Southern California surgery centers that our group owns. I basically said no I’m good. Ain’t going to pay ain’t going to do it. Not to mention the southern region administration was getting credit for our work here in Northern California for what we were doing for them. I said heck no. No more work for them.

McDonald's has inflated 100%. I believe that translates inflation just perfectly. 100%. I was saving money when I was making 8 dollars less an hour. No new purchases or frivolous excess.

I think there’s so many reasons why Americans are broke. One reason obviously is inflation, every single expense has gone up for me. Secondly, I think a lot of people are addicted to shopping, trying to prove something to others, or trying to live a life that they can’t afford.

women have it easy, society gives them the easy jobs and at decent pay too. I remember busting my ass in a skilled trade for years only some chick gets to work in office doing payroll and printing stickers get paid more then me. Oh yea and i taight her most of her job, little does she or the rest of the office know i have a college degree but they never would have hired me for that job cse they want women to do it even had the boss tell me that.

And also the Korean frugality.
