krásný gramo a krásná deska :)

Beautiful machine 😊
Einfach genial! 😊❤
Recorded on October 12, 1926. Arranged by Bill Challis.
Terrible!
you yourself are terrible.
Hum a happy tune
A true delight : thank you !
I think Meryl Streep was very subtle with Madam Jenkins and sang her much better. This original really scared me.
I also have the HMV 101 Gramophone, but mine is slightly different.... The winding handle, (which is chromed) goes in at the side of the cabinet. Mine also has an automatic stop/start controlled by the Tonearm movement. But your cabinet black covering material is in much better condition than mine is. Mine was bought new in 1930 by my 'aunt' and I have since inherited it after her passing. I always think that acoustically recorded records sound a lot better on acoustic Gramophones. The date of that recording means that it was literally only a few weeks before "Electric recordings" came in ! Very nice recording. Thanks for uploading.
Nice.
A lovely room
Wonderfully awful ❤
This is a real toe-tapper and it's brilliant bc the kazoo never takes a lead lol. Nice post!
I noticed a tare on the record label . Did some one try to get violent ? There is another video on You Tube . Showing how this woman has a negative affect on cats . Cruelty to animals if you ask me .
No, it's very simple, the melotone label is stuck wrongly and thus interferes with the lead, and the needle damaged the label after playing the turntable to the end.
Must watch that film again. I always have trouble getting myself off the floor though..,.
I know we shouldn't laugh, but really... That film always makes me crease up..
i love that movie. I had to have her record. I'm still waiting for one from the US.
I’ve never come across one of hers before !! Is this the woman that they made a tv drama on a few years ago……. The woman that thought she had a wonderful voice 😂 ?
Yes, that's her. She was played by Meryl Streep in the movie. I recorded and archived that record right after unpacking and will never play it again. But rarity is nice.
@@jandera1 …………. That’s the one…. Hugh Grant played her side-kick/manager….. great film 😂
Yikes! Does the record actually slide over the end of the brake lever as it is ejected? It does sound as if it is scratching across the grooves! I don't think I would trust this machine to play anything more valuable than an Arden & Ohman record!! (But it's still fascinating to watch it in action.)
A wonderful evening of nostalgic melodic old music, thank you!
Cant beat some Jack Hylton 👏👏
This is just Jack Hylton, the best definitive version is by Fred Rich!
Love that auto-return mechanism; last disc goes off to the pile....
Not at the level of Paul Whiteman's recording with Bix and the Rhythm Boys, but a perfectly nice dance record with some good jazz. Was that Adrian Rollini on bass sax?
I’m not jealous at all 🥴🥴
Lovely 😊
Fantastic 😊 👍 😎

Wonderful 😊👍 😎 Thank you for sharing
Surprisingly good reproduction from an acoustic only gramophone
It's fascinating how this is an American composition, and yet it has such an aura about it of the Old World -- the Europe of a bygone era. More specifically, the melancholic nature of the music reminds me so very strongly of the overall emotional atmosphere of so much of the music I heard as a child on my grandmother's old Finnish-language 78-rpm discs ( which I presently still have, and will always highly treasure as mementos of her ). If I were to hear this melody, for the first time and in the absence of any identifying information, I would assume this to have been a Finnish song of the 1930s -- instead of an English one. In spite of the wistfulness of music such as this, I do feel a certain definite affinity for it. There is in fact, a certain comfort in it for me, even . . . ! Other melodies in this same mould for which I have great fondness are Irving Berlin's "Reaching for the Moon" -- check out especially the S.C. Lanin version, pressed on Durium and available on RUclips -- and "Nostalgia'' by the Benny Goodman Orchestra. ( I believe this last tune was written by Eddie Sauter, who at the time in the early 1940s, was working for the the band as arranger ). Yours, Richard Laine.
Very good.
❤
Cant go wrong with some Jack Hylton. Great ‘whole-sound’ from the Gramophone 👏👏
very g sound

There are several hundred records..Take about 20cds
This is take C
The thinking is this is lew stone and his band..but I'm not so sure..
It is
One of the very best versions recorded in the 1920s..l don't think Ellington actually recorded his own composition..
Actually there are two Duke Ellington airchecks from 1938 and 1940. I have the 1940 one on the LP "Everybody's Ellington" and it's typical of Duke that he radically updated the composition so it sounds like everything else he was playing in 1940. Ellington composed it in 1925 for an all-Black musical in Germany and it's nice to hear a 1920's version for comparison to Duke's 1940 rewrite!
Lovely. The before times, and a few more times.
Incredible machine 😳👏👏👏
