Had one of these on my XR650L solo trip to West Africa for six months in 1996. Absolutely perfect. Sturdy, quick to erect. Lots of room for bags and clothing to be kept in securely overnight. So easy after a trying and tiring day.
Thanks for sharing nice to hear from someone who's used it on a long trip. Cheers Ady.
Weird that one side is better made than the other. But, I guess you can only use velcroed flaps themselves on one side when you ARE on the inside.
Great review. Seriously thinking about buying one for trip on motor bike.
nice one mate! thanks for posting 👍
Glad you like it mate, I've since started to throw on a few blueberries once it's cooked, nice addition.😁👍
Just got my 2nd. The only issue I have is that the door and porch side panels flap - easily fixed
I always pitch/peg mine from the front, and tension the pole adjustable straps tight when putting the poles in not at the pegging out stage, if that makes sense. Also I have in the past hit the ground to sink the pole in a bit, all these seem to help try it next time.👍
nice ,thanks for sharing
Thanks hopefully you found it useful. Cheers Ady.👍
@@adyontour have ordered mine , will let know how it goes , thanks mate
I have a original igloo I have replaced with a biker plus. Last weekend for ease I used the igloo and it stood up to a thunderstorm not bad for a tent approaching 20 years old used regularly. My only failing is the grey plastic feet at the end of the poles they are now brittle.
Glad you have had so many good years out of the tent, have you tried contacting Khyam to see if you can get replacement pole ends, worth a go as they do say lifetime guarantee on the website.
Nice tent, I just bought a 2024 Beta 350XL…fibreglass poles, not as good waterproofing, but cheaper. Can’t wait to use it, going to Cornwall with my dog and my car for a week of hiking. There’s loads of room for a chair and a table for a 2 burner cooker…..it’s my 4th Vango tent, great brand, and once you’ve pitched one, you can pitch any Vango tent, very simple, well designed. Tents are only good for about 12-14 weeks before UV gets at them, so I always bear that in mind in my budget. I’m sure when yours is worn out, u could keep the poles and buy a Beta 350, check the poles are the same length….the design looks improved on the 2024
Great Vid. Looking at getting the Vango Galaxy 300. The porch area looks great for getting in and out of motorbike gear and cooking. Do you strap it to the bike just in it's own bag or do you put it all in a waterproof bag?
Cheers, I put mine on the back seat in a bag with other bits and fits fine, a great tent. Ady.👍⛺️🏍
@@adyontour AHH yes, I've just noticed your set up on the day 2 vid. I shall invest in a good roll top bag like yours for the back seat.
Thank you so much for the review! We’re really pleased you like the ventilation and our team will get onto updating those measurements on the website asap 🙂 have a happy camping season!
Glad you liked it and appreciate the feedback.
Your so cute ❤
🤣
Looks amazing great video too 👏🏻🥰
Thanks, and it was.😁x
Lovely video and cinematography. I only live about 40 minutes from Tenby. Glad you had some decent weather 👍
Cheers Gary, it's the first time going back since I was a young boy and it didn't disappoint, you are definitely lucky to live around that area. I will be back for more adventures as soon as, watch this space.👍😊🏍⛺️
Looks a great site !! atb
It certainly is, if you enjoy a bit of coastal walking this is a great base. I'm putting up a video shortly.👍
Do they allow camp fires?
Hi mate, yes they do allow small camp fires, with I suppose the usual off the ground, don't leave unattended, and I think they want them out before a certain time. Just double check with an enquiry.
Hi Mate, found your Chanel over the wild heart Bags 👍 they are great. This is a realy nice Camp side 👍 made with love ❤ that is what i see in every Corner. Is it only for Club Members ? Greets from a Motorcycle Camper Cologne Germany 🌻 You got my Subscribtion 👍😀
Hi Peter, thanks for the support and glad you like the Wild Heart bags. Still find it a shame vango don’t warranty their poles.. my porch pole split after second use.
Blimey normally the quality is very good, how long have you had the tent?
@@adyontour had it several years now. But when pole split it was less than a year and second use. We put some duct tape round it and always put it in the less stress3d position.
Oh right, shame you didn't rise the issue when it happened you could of used your consumer rights and got a replacement maybe. You can get replacement poles and could take the elastic out and just replace the split one, a really easy job.
@@adyontour I did with vango. And was told they don’t warranty the poles. Which, as I said to them, as the main structure of the tent you would think they would build them to last. If ours was/is defective it should have been replaced. But no..
Agreed, well I'd get the replacement and hopefully it will carry on being the good tent that it is, I'm taking mine to Wales tomorrow and doing a video of the trip, thanks for watching the channel.🤘⛺️🏍😊
What a brilliant and really well explained first impressions video. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was a bit of detail concerning how the roof poles attach. The idea of the tubing to protect the pole sleeve gets a thumbs up from me.
Thanks, to be honest those poles are pretty self explanatory but saying that I have seen people not putting them through the sleeve. The protective tubing is working a treat, thanks for the feedback.👍
@@adyontour Due to your video I've just bought one off a guy on FaceBook for half the price of a brand spanking new one.
@@adyontour I think I will see if I can get some of the tubing tomorrow from B&Q. What's it actually called and what is it used for?
It was a cable tidy ribbed tube, its comes with a split in it, from memory I think it was about 12-15mm diameter.
@@adyontour Thanks for replying, I really appreciate your help. The way it's made will help it bend to the curve of the pole better than a straight one would. Are the edges and corners smooth enough? Just a bit concerned it will wear holes in the flysheet.
What happened to the vango 350.
Hi Keith, I didn't keep it as the Galaxy 300 was a better tent for me.
I have the vango 350 still new. The one you have the galaxy 300 looks like the same size in its bag, wish I new that before buying the 350 if iam correct. Also Iam trying to save up for a new motorbike, I don't have one at the moment, money a bit tight at the moment.
I seem to think the pack size is smaller for the Omega 350, but for me the high headroom and big vestibule area on the Galaxy 300 is what makes it better. Good luck with the new bike.👍
Enjoyde watching your tent review, i like the extension canopy for your cooking, i have been looking for a lightweight 2 man tent.
Nice review...Thanks 👍
Cheers.😊
Great idea .. cheers
Hey, can I use some of these clips for a little part in my video, ill credit👍👍
Hi, yes thats fine. Can I ask what video you are making?. Cheers Ady.
@@adyontour Thanks ady, i like making vlogs of the county games, and i just want to use a couple seconds of a drone shot above meadow lane for part of one of my intros👍 all the best
You say its a deal breaker but how often are you in the rain camping 1, and its going to leak into a storage area not sleeping quarters 2 , and third if you have the tent into the wind correctly the wind will be blowing the flap closed , as for seam tape , well thats not hard to do , i think the tent is fine but yes i would bring this up to the manufacturer to be addressed when making new tents , im shur they would love some feedback to make it better .....
Britain, rain + camping = at least 50/50. On the other hand, setting the velcro tabs perfectly from the inside of the door whilst closing it doesn't happen so a generous overlap and velcro patch size is essential. The real problem comes from condensation if the top of the tent is not sufficiently steep to let it run off.
Tks for the review. How did you find it since? Is it big enough for an adult and 3 kids do you think?
Hi, to be honest I didn't keep it but since the review the general feedback is that the zip issue I highlighted wasn't a massive problem. But I would say not big enough for an adult and 3 kids you will find it a bit cramped unless one sleeps in the porch area, it wouldn't leave much room for gear/clothes and kids stuff, and because the ground sheet isn't sowed in there might be a few draughts in the wind.
We were away at a biker fest last weekend Ady, it rained. Noticed me and mates tents were both Galaxy 300 'earth trek' (both bought in last 2yrs) and some others were the same tent but had 'base camp'on the side. Slight difference in that ours collected a small pool of water, on the roof, the bit between the two roof pole ends, just above where you roll the door up to and secure in the two loops. This resulted in accidental spills into the tent when the rain stopped and we rolled up the doors and disturbed the water. The other 'base camp' ones didn't have this problem, speaking to the owners, theirs were a few years older than ours and the roof section on theirs was taut and didn't have this problem. A bit mystified, must be a different production run? Maybe different country/factory making them? I am looking into a solution to this. Oh by the way, I sewed on the two loops and elastics onto the mid bottom of the front sloping sides, works a treat for just two more pegs. Stops the flapping and gives a little bit more room between flysheet and bathtub groundsheet
I know this might be a silly question but you did put the poles through the sleeves either side of the rooflight didn't you?
@@adyontour Yes the poles were in the sleeves. It's just the material in that area on ours must have a slight sag to it which was all the more noticeable when it rained as water would collect there. But the other older ones it was more taut and the water would just run off and down the door. Can't think of any way to make it tighter to let the water to run off. Can I put photos up on here??
Just to confirm the Base camp is the old model and the Earth Collection is the new one, also they changed the fabric to one made from recycled plastic so this might be why they differ. To be honest the new ones only have 3000HH and the base camp is 5000HH so a better fabric. Mine is a base camp and I've not noticed it sagging but it's not been in really heavy rain. The only thing I've seen some people do is when putting the guy ropes out on the front pole they peg them forward instead of them going out to the sides, this could loosen the tension above the door. Send photos if you can.
@@adyontour Sorry Ady, reverse what I said at first, I got my galaxy 300 models wrong way round. Mine (and mates tent) is the 'Earth Trek', it says this on the storage bag, it also says it has a 5,000HH. It also is made from Protex Eco, which will be the recycled plastics material you were on about. The other older 'base camp' ones that we saw (and that you have), being different materials must be why they do not have this problem. Can't send photos as there doesn't seem to be the option, mind you this is off my mobile, might be different on my pc. Will see if pegging the main pole guy ropes out makes a difference, we were really hemmed in and tents close together, so not much room for lateral guy ropes, this could be the cause and the solution??
@clivedonaldson9549 this is a bummer to hear because I have only found one website that will deliver to the US and it is the model you have, did you ever find a solution?

@@adyontour no worries mate
Which pegs go where? there seem to be 3 types
Thanks so much for the reply! I don’t seem to be able to upload a photo or video to the comments section, so I’ve added a quick video to my page. There are 15 hooped pegs and 5 of each of the other two. It’s the Vango Galaxy 300 Tent - 2023 Model
Hiya, I've had a look and it seems strange they are all different types. Normally they would be the pegs on the left of the picture, and the hoop ones would be to peg a ground sheet or something you walk over so you don't catch your foot. Also you only need 20 pegs to do the whole tent and guy ropes. I think the best thing is contact Vango customer services they are really helpful, and please let me know what they say as it's a mystery why they include different types. Ady.😊
Why was you using this tent instead of the Vango Galaxy? I've got a little tent like the MSR I use (Vango Helium 2) but that's for when I'm travelling on and off-road with the bike. But if on the road I'm taking the Galaxy every time, so much more room, so much easier to live with, like being able to stand up and get dressed/changed, and there's only a slight weight/size penalty. So i'm intrigued what you feel the advantage is of a small tent like this? Thanks for the review, got me wondering if the shed would work with my Access 1. Thanks
This was purely a review of the tent, it wasn't mine as I always use my Galaxy and love it. I was in ireland with a mate and he had just bought this for our trip, and was disappointed with his set up compared with mine.😊 Thanks for watching 👍
@@adyontour ok, thanks for the reply
any chance i could use some of this footage ady
I see you have used it anyway, why bother asking.
Did this one leak?? Or did the Omega come after this?
I didn't keep the Omega as I was just not convinced so sent it back and went with the Galaxy, so far everything has been fine. After my review of the Omega others have said that it's been fine but I still feel the zip is a weak point. Hope this helps.
what if you have a passenger? and also if yo need to open the saddle? it's for single people not for couples.
Good point, but the wide velcro pad can be folded down and just use the smaller straps over the seat. They do fit on and off very easily so can't see a problem getting under the seat.
Hi, what make of chair do you have?
I find that most of them are fine, but the current one was from Aldi about £15.00 and is ok. The bottom mat for the legs is good to protect the ground sheet. I've also used ones off Amazon. Ady.
Was the sleeping area already inside when it came
Hi Glyn, no I don't think it was and I always take mine out anyway just so you can wipe down the underside of the groundsheet, it only takes minutes to fit. Ady.
The one thing i was interested in you didn't seem to cover. The vestibule footprint. Does it have any way or rising or attaching to the front door. Or does it simply lay flat ? If ots completely flat at the front I could envisage some issues with wind causing rain to enter in at the very front lower section of the door.
Sorry for the late reply. The front ground sheet does lip up the side by about 150mm and the front edge does lay flat, but also can be raised up and secured to the same height as the rest. lastly it also attaches to the bedroom. I've used mine loads not in heavy rain yet but when opening the door in the rain you do have to shake it slightly otherwise it does drip in a bit. Hope this helps. Ady.
I have bought wild heart for my Piaggio Medley and they work very well. The only problem at the moment is that you cannot open the saddle which is limiting as regards storing your helmet. Still working on the problem. Anyone have any suggestions?
What chair is that mate will it hold 16st
To be honest Justin it was just a cheap one from Aldi. You can spend quite a bit on Helinox but these do the job. Also on Amazon there are loads I'm sure you could get something, I will say the base sheet is good under the legs as it protects the ground sheet and stops you sinking in soft ground. Hope this helps, Ady.
@@adyontour great vid mate going to get the beta tomorrow
I’ve cheated the rain on that one side you was reviewing ‘ I’ve bought a vango tarp and alls absolutely superb as I got caught in heavy rain at side farm camp site Lake District. Must admit I like that vango galaxy 300 too 👍
Nice 👌. I was out most of the day yesterday with my mini 2 ( check my videos 😉). What drone have you got buddy ?
I upgraded to the new DJI mini 3 Pro. Fantastic bit of kit.
Ady on Tour I have just purchased a Galaxy 300, I hope you see this as a constructive criticism after watching your vid - here goes: there are three different pegs used for this tent, the written instructions attached to the tent bag give no idea of how many there should be, nor where they should be placed or actually used. I would have really appreciated a step by step guide as to where and how they should have been located and used in your video. I wrote to Technical Services after watching your video and the advice was as follows: in the peg bag there should 5 skewer pegs ( Vango equivalent = alloy pin pegs ), 5 meta stake pegs ( Vango equivalent = channel pegs ), 15 ringed groundsheet pegs ( Vango equivalent = groundsheet pegs ). " Channel pegs for the corners, alloy pin pegs for the sides and remainder and the groundsheet pegs for the rest of the guy ropes and webbing." Until I get the complete tent out of the bag I do not know what " webbing" actually is ! I did not see this on your video so have no idea whether you agree with what has been suggested.
Hi Bill, I am a little confused because all the pegs with my tent are the same. If you have the latest Earth Collection model it might be that they have introduced these, why they would do that I'm not sure maybe let me know when you pitch the tent. Also one bit of advise, start at the front when pegging out as it helps the sides staying taught.
@@adyontour Yes Ady that could well be it, and I will do as you suggest re starting at the front. Regards Bill
Was looking at the 250, but I think I would be on my knees a lot. Not good for older chaps like me 😢. So I seen your video and that’s a lot better higher for me. Did you send it back? And was it faulty?. Have you replaced it?. Thanks for your video. William.
Hi, yes I did send it back only because of the zip, I went for the Galaxy 300 and that has a massive porch area and I'm really pleased with it. See my other video.
What is the approximate pitching time ? Thanks, Alain from France
Hi Alain, I would say 15mins max it's very easy for one person. I always pitch the outer first then clip in the inner. There have been a few people complaining about the front sides flapping, but if you peg the door first then the back this for some reason stops this from happening. Cheers Ady.
@@adyontour I've seen suggestions that you can sew an additional peg tab midway along to lessen the flapping. After getting droochit on the west coast of scotland last year, we're going Galaxy too - just the thing for removing those wet leathers in a highland summer.
Excellent review. Would be keen to hear an update on them.
Cheers, So far so good I've done about 7 camping trips and no signs of anything, all the stress points still look fine. I've not had them in a good downpour yet but I'm sure they will be fine. Hopefully this helps.👍
Hey mate, trust me, it's fine!! Me any the wife used this tent for five years, and if we go away to the Lakes for just a few days, we still take this instead our our Icarus. That door won't leak, trust me. Stick the tab down on the bottom properly though (fold it in). We've been in some helluva thunderstorms in that thing and it's never leaked. When it pours, we sit in that vestibule (albeit slightly slouched), on two campchairs and with a table up and our food, shoes and my Karrimor Bergen in there too. It's a beautiful piece of well priced good kit for two people. Honestly though, we've been in sleet, snow, hail the lot with absolutely no issues. (If we did the wife would be the first to shout no more). When it's wet it kinda automatically sticks down anyways. Just keep the front guys taut though, stopsthe flapping noise in bad winds. I usually rest my Bergen up against the front anyways, it works a treat. Enjoy!! It's a cracking piece of gear
Cheers for the feedback. This was the latest Earth collection thats made from recycled plastic, it has a lower hydrostatic head and might be different to the one you use. I did in the end opt for the galaxy 300 and I'm happy with the extra headroom you get.👍
FANtastic review! Much appreciated!
