Seems like your vibrato is either full on or off. Have you heard Angelina Jordan sing? Seems she can apply any intensity of vibrato she wants to suit the song’s emotion.

Alexis is one of our great vocal artist. She has such a fluid and dynamic approach, much more instrumentally oriented than many singers out there. The range of her voice conveys the chromatic spectrum no matter the chosen timbre because she uses her whole body as an instrument. That's rare and to my ear, it's the mark of highly developed technique. Plus her understanding of the lyric is personal and qualified, as what a trained actor would be expected to express. Take it from me, because I'm just that hip. So there.
