The Hourglass
This is an original play that I wrote and produced in Brooklyn in December 2024. An overview of the plot is below. And, I'm looking to resume production at a larger theater, so if you're interested and able to help, please leave a comment!

"The Hourglass" is a play inspired by the true story of Hiroo Onoda. Playwright Drew Pierson learned of Onoda's tale from his mother, who grew up in the South Pacific and was familiar with similar WWII holdouts.
The play follows Junie, a college dropout, who risks his life searching for The Lieutenant, a soldier stranded on an island decades after a great war ended. Despite the passage of time, The Lieutenant believes the war is still ongoing.

    The way McCarthy describes a scene or feeling is very poetic which really contrasts well with the kind of crude ways that the characters speak.
