I love it but i find it quite hard to come across stuff that really fascinate me in this field I've been really influenced in the past by stuff like the satan, old eDUB, t pazolite, dolphin, krtm.. and more recently by embrionyc or the current evolution of hardstyle as a whole I hope to get back on it more and find ways to blend it with m...
fully synthetised drum loop made during a lesson i gave

not all the sounds were synthetised during the lesson, but a good chunk are, and i mangled a bunch the others that were previously made from scratch too. feedback ring modulation as a tool to make weird sounds
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.3 месяца назад
I forgot to mention that you have to let through the smallest amount of input signal for this to work, so lower that mix knob on that ring mod, just a tiny bit! feedback chains in general are insane for sound design stuff and are at the core of a lot of dsp concepts, i'll be posting more stuff about it in the future

@@Nortsan197 glad if it's useful!
adding noise to a wavetable is interesting because the moment you stop moving the wavetable position the noise fragment becomes stationary and immediatly doesn't feel like noise anymore because of that
It's like that illusion of a ring moving around in a picture of noise, once you stop the video you can no longer make out the ring.
@johnwest6690 yeah. lately i also some game dev log where a dude made a game that can only be perceived in motion because everything was made of noise
YOU SAID SIMPLE SOUND AND PLAYED THAT MONSTROSITY OF A BASS HOW
@@angurishudesu I mean it does sound fat I agree but the sound itself is like literally 3 clicks to do, saw wave, filter it, use the filter output to fm the original saw wave (so feedback), move the filter cutoff, profit lol

1:46 if you dont mind the phase shift but don't want the boost sound you can do cuts instead
@@Francisco12G I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean emphasis deamphasis, this trick is meant to avoid having to do that, cause afaik reaper is the only daw capable of doing it well with mapping 2 eqs with opposite parameters
No I don't mean emphasis/deemphasis. I mean instead of doing a boost you do a cut. There will still be a difference (won't cancel what you are cutting) and you could isolate just that part of the spectrum and distort it the same way you do with a boost but without the added boost sound@@mleuc
@@Francisco12G no it will be the same, tho the boost will be phase flipped by 180, so partially canceling with the untouched signal that doesnt go through the distortion stage. So it wont give exactly the same result
@@mleuc it doesn't give the same result with or without distortion or any other effect. Phase is also related to gain, that's why if it's not the same volume it doesn't cancel perfectly. With that said silence is the result of cancellation but that doesn't mean the signal it's not there! You should try it!
My apologies, I've been experimenting with only working with the delta signal and when you blend with the original you get the expected result with a cut or a boost as you said. I also noticed you are using linear phase eqs! Sorry for the mess. Cheers
This is fire! Is this demo available as a song?

every day, mleuc takes me one step closer to getting MXXX
Crazy. Man, more tutorial, pls.
thanks! if i have some interesting stuff to share i'll do for sure! i wanna get really into making actual tutorials at some point but it's pretty time consuming among other things, still have to figure out the format and stuff too
@@mleuc I think it's best to do short videos of 4-5 minutes that show you how to do a specific feature, and during that video, another technique is mentioned in passing that will be covered in the next video. This should be a great motivator to subscribe and wait for new videos. By the way, it would be great to see the MXXX matrix. Or some kind of simple, super-short guide on how to build your instrument in it.
@@georgesoros7849 ngl that's the opposite of what i want to do I'm not that much interested in sharing random tricks to people, even if i'm not opposed to it, and even do it often. I just think the value of it is really limited to the trick itself, while talking about concepts on a larger level is more what i'm interested in I'm not interested in getting followers, i'm not against it of course but i just dont care much so i have no inscentive to shape content in a way or another too much. Rn i'm just sharing quickly random stuff i'm doing that i find cool! For the building your own instrument part, there's a lot of videos made on the matter melda's channel so i dont think i need to make any. Tbh i think too much content nowadays is focusing on sharing random tricks to people while subtly promising them it's going to make them better. I hate that. I think tips and tricks are essential for sure but this current way of consuming audio related content is killing people's capacities of comming with their own ideas. What i wanna do is more on the side of a well packed and entertaining way of talking about larger concepts that actually unlocked my personnal creativity on a larger scale, eventually using some specific tricks as a support to showcase what you can do with them. Just to be clear i'm not into the idea of gatekeeping but i think focusing ont the concept behind the things rather than the things themselves is much more valuable overal, and also respects people's time more. So rn i'm just testing some stuff, sharing whatever i'm doing at the moment.. but i'm mostly focusing on other stuff (like my job, and writing music to release later) that are not allowing me to spend the time i'd need to script, record, and learn how to edit long form videos well. But hopefully i'll find time for it in the future and in the meantime i'll probably figure out the things i need to figure out haha But thank you for the advices anyway, all that end up being part of the things to take in consideration to nail what i wanna do
@@mleuc Got inspired today and checked out MXXX, handy stuff. I've generally used Melda plugins individually, but it's really handy that you can create chains of plugins and save them in a preset. Actually, if you'd be willing to share the preset, it would help a lot in understanding how the effect works. I don't think many people can pick it up by ear, especially those just starting out. Unless it's under NDA, of course xD. Not everyone sees presets as a "go to" solution. For many, it's a starting point that allows them to look for ideas in a certain direction. For example, I learned a whole genre through a trick - Botanica. But I don't insist. Thank you, anyway.

half of plugins people use are just a bunch of delays btw (filters, phaser, comb, flanger, eq, chorus, reverb)

Where does one find and install this plugin?
look for mxxx on melda website, but this is a custom patch so you wont find it inside. I plan on trying to get similar but better things done in plugdata someday so i might share/sell some patch at some point
meleluc
mxxx looks crazy. I wonder if it's possible to crossfeed two delays with an effect rack setup
it is! at least if you mean ableton effect rack. just use the listen feature in stock compressor to root audio from whenever you want to wherever you want. but you will deal with much more latency since vsts process audio by blocks of samples unlike mxxx internal feedback. The real fun with all this is really with max msp/puredata tho, but it's really long to setup

thanks! i have already one on splice that is called audiomoshing, and another on luxcache called synaptix (but the creator of luxcache is now under severe accusations so i would recomend finding another way to get your hand on it tbh). While the first is getting old and the two are in a different style than maybe you'll find them useful still.
