THE BOYS OF FAIRHILL - By Conal Creedon
Просмотров 28 тыс.4 года назад
The Boys Of Fairhill - A popular street ballad in Cork City from the early decades of the last century. Many would assume that The Boys Of FairHill were a mythical Band of Brothers. I am very privileged and fortunate to have to have been invited to spent a number of weeks just hanging out hunting, bowling, pigeon fancier ...- so privileged to have been welcomed into their lives and traditions a...

Sure we are being burned again...dinguishable in the selection candidates eyes,.however we are not extinguisabel..our love for our country will smouldering warmly on true men and women of Eire's hearts for eternity.
Cork people are the salt of the earth.
In 1914 100,000 Nationalists were prepared to fight to death to prevent partition. In 1922 they voted for it by a huge margin. The B&Ts broke their will to go on, remarkably easily.
I remember Christmas in Cork.
The picture of the pigeons caught my attention...they look like they are in perfect health...As a young boy around 12 year old i got interested in pigeons..Caught some stray ones and spent my 2/6 for a bird...I was unaware my father kept pigeons as a young man. He built a loft and we raced them ,it was a great time. i got to go to the club after races (also winter time was show time which was exciting as well) ,and we won a few i recall coming second from skibbereen young birds..This was just before the troubles really got going .After coming to australia in my early twenties when i had kids my boys got interested in pigeons so i built a loft and kept them till recently......Also i recall as a boy travelling the back roads in my county (Armagh) and seeing people playing bowls on the roads and wondering what was going on.Later in life i read that its a game played in Cork and Armagh...
They deserved all they got for hiding terrorists
❤❤❤
Thank you for the subtitles ❤

Well done documentary.
great story. I think I briefly met you and a friend in Pa Johnsons one night some years ago. I'll look your plays up in NYC. Thank You. (found my way to this site via "researching-while-reading" REFLECTIONS OF CORK by Paul Daly (given to me by the Lord Mayor one lucky evening!))
love this documentary such brave young men.
And that is exactly one of the reasons why British presence had to be ended and Ireland had to be freed from British rule and why this country had to become Poblacht na hÉireann, a country to its and for its own people.
And neutral. Neutrality is in the Irish soul. Love them for their courage and patience.
You're really deluded if you think that@@charleskristiansson1296
Why only 321 subscribers, 12,105 views in a 3 year period that this was posted on such an important event as 'The Burning of Cork' the Killing of two Lord Mayors of Cork that brought independence to the Irish homeland six months later that is relevant to 100 million people worldwide of Irish decent. It is sad and strange that the Google algorithm favors videos of music etc over this much more important event in Irelands history. Did the UK had a hand in the so called famine of 1845 - 1850 ( not a famine when the potato crop fails five years in a row ). It is not a famine when one million Catholics die of starvation and disease and no figure exists of how many Protestants died of starvation and disease in this five year period. Will we ever get the chance to get the truth out there ?. Please share
👍
Does anyone know the version of the boys from kilmicheal that fades out this documentary @51:23? Its a lovely piece.
