Your biggest complain is also my biggest complaint. It makes no sense the projector or the mount can't be rotated.

I just discovered this light today so as a 60b II owner, what is the primary difference between the two? I've actually used the 60b II as a spotlight for a fashion show and i never felt like it was lacking. So im interested to see what the 60cr is doing more of.

7:18 new gaffer here. I disagreed re: apps, especially with the development of Sidus Link… until I needed more than a couple lights. That’s the top of the line manufacturers app, and it cant seem to handle 4 lights. 100xS, 60xS, and a PT4c worked fine. But once I added the 200xS, it started doing all your typical app BS (controlling the wrong head, or multiple heads, etc.) Any tips until I can afford a DMX setup?

If it is Spectrum C stand you're referring to at 2:40 in this clip then i must say it's not cheap as described. For most people, it works great and does exactly what it should but like you mentioned...your preference for other brands...

What I noticed is that you are very quick with changing the set-ups, which is super important on set. So wondering if you could share your knowledge how to quickly adjust c-stands (for instance more detail on where to place which hand when mounting a floppy or what to do with the knuckle so the flag slides into the hole right away, from which angle to insert the floppy, etc.) Basically how to get up to speed when setting up grip equipment. I tried out the skypanel X at arri on a test shoot for a feature, heres what i can say: -Its heavy. -The hyperoptics are impressive, i hate using the vortex naked, the shadows are just disgusting, the X i would absolutely use as a hard light, it also has crazy minimal spill coming of the lenses. However. It is NOT "as good as a fresnel fixture" but its close. -when using it as a soft light its not all that different from the vortex or even the old skypanel. -the new lightengine is great, amazing color -the crmx is very well done, even just the fact that it has legacy skypanel crmx profiles from the get go is awesome -its heavy.

Seriously the best c-stand tutorial on RUclips. So many of the other videos are teaching people to use c-stands the wrong way or are leaving out key information. Your video cleared up so many questions for me! One question I do have is that in the video you mentioned that while c-stands often carry heavier loads than a light, they are not light stands. I'm curious about the other uses of c-stands beyond what you covered here.

I believe it's called a Stinger after it's creator, Alfred R. Stinger. Pronounced stin-jer.

In jail, you make a “stinger” by cutting the cord off an appliance. Then you can cook with the ends by contacting them to a metal surface. You get shocked a lot during all this, hence the term “stinger.” Jodi is another jail word, which the military share. It’s not uncommon for jail words to cross reference into other lexicons, or vice versa.

Great video Josiah. I do think theres definitely a point where really big cables get wrapped over-under again and that is when they get to big to hold in one hand while wrapping them. having them lay on the floor and just putting loops over-under on top of it is much easier and faster then trying to wrap them over-over with a cable you can't easily just untangle with a little flick.

IMO it does make sense to bag the second leg facing away from the load to counter balance as a secondary measure after placing the first big leg under the load (provided the bag doesn’t touch the ground). It also serves a secondary function to counter any force pushing over the stand at a diagonal 45 between the leg orientations. Curious if you’ve found the above to be less effective than bagging the first big leg?
