Haha, bien vu @Lama4life! Effectivement, j'ai grandi en banlieue de Montréal. Pour mon parcours, avec plaisir! J'ai toujours eu un intérêt pour les insectes. Je me suis joint à la Société d'entomologie du Canada dès 2013 pour voir ce à quoi ressemblait la recherche dans ce domaine. J'y ai trouvé une formidable communauté. J'ai fait un bacc en arts à l'U. d'Ottawa (études de l'envionnement, biologie et pas mal de cours à gauche à droite). Pendant ce temps là, je travaillais les étés dans une société de services agronomiques pour producteurs maraîchers. Je faisais du dépistage dans des champs de légumes asiatiques (du chou plat, du chou nappa, du bok choy, etc) et un des insectes les plus problèmatiques était la cécidomyie du chou-fleur. Je me suis donc dirigé à Guelph après Ottawa car l'experte canadienne de cet insecte y était. Je lui ai demandé si elle serait intéressé à ce que je devienne son étudiant de maîtrise. J'ai dû faire une année de qualification pour palier aux connaissances scientifiques qui me manquaient pour transitionner d'un bacc en arts à une maîtrise en sciences. En gros, c'est pas mal ça. @@ceferland8 wow... j’adore les insectes et je pensais faire un bac en biologie et ensuite étudier en entomologie mais je ne trouve pas de programme concret pour cette discipline au Québec. Étudier dans un autre état comme vous serait peut-être un bon choix vu que je comprend et parle très bien l’anglais. Enfin, votre reportage est excellent j’en ai appris beaucoup. Merci !

C'est pour des gens comme toi que je fais ces vidéos :) Je ne connais pas ton niveau de scolarité, mais le CÉGEP Saint-Laurent offre une bonne formation technique en écologie. Si je devais tout recommencer, je m'enlignerais là-dessus! L'Université de Guelph est très forte en entomologie, l'Université de Colombie-Britannique (UBC) aussi, mais je ne crois pas qu'il existe un programme spécifiquement en entomologie pour le bacc... Localement, le programme d'agronomie de McGill ou de l'Université Laval offrent des parcours super intéressants qui traitent des insectes en plus de permettre l'obtention du titre d'agronome: un domaine plein de possibilités. C'est surtout aux études supérieures qu'il est possible de se spécialiser. Si tu poses déjà des questions, tu es sur la bonne voie! I'm sure there are, although I would highly recommend getting in touch with the Registrar's office of the institution offering the course in which you wish to enroll. They'll know best how to explain the process and can connect you with the right persons so that you can take the course that matters to you :)

Hey as sa, the University of Guelph offers ENVS*3090 Field Entomology. I do recommend checking it out. This is the course this group did. In the US, the Entomological Society of America (www.entsoc.org/) is a good ressource to learn more about educational opportunities like this. They might be better suited to guide you towards courses in NJ so I'd recommend getting in touch with them. Then if you have certain taxonomic group of preferences, there might be various possibilities; for instance this course is tailored specifically towards dipterists: dipteracourse.com/ // FYI, this year's field course from U. of Guelph is taking place in Ecuador; I've geared up with better equipment to film a longer documentary project. @@yeetmeister9316 Not necessarily, there are many paths people take to get into entomology. Best resource to ask are your national entomological association, e.g. in the States, it's the Entomological Society of America www.entsoc.org/ / in Canada, the Entomological Society of Canada esc-sec.ca/. Off the top of my head, seems like most people come from a biology background, or environmental sciences/studies, agriculture, forestry, zoology, but some people also approach it from more of a human or veterinary medecine perspective, archeological, engineering. Ultimately, I think it depends on what you like and where you want to go :)
