2024 First Half Movie Reviews! 23 in 1!
This is a great 👍 👏 masterpiece ah from the original 👌 of course ❤💯❤🧛♂️🔥🎬🎞📽🎥🍿🍫🥤.
Anora was great.
I was super psyched to see this film, having always been a big fan of many of the vampire movies. Especially the original Nosferatu. I'm sorry, but I ended up bored, and nearly fell asleep in the theatre. Bill was excellent as the count, and the other actors did a decent, if maybe exaggerated job. The Cinematography was beautifully done, and the vibe generally creepy. But honestly, the story additions were lame. The whole possession thing was seriously off and silly. I will admit I did enjoy the ending, and thought it apropos. But on the whole I was disappointed, and don't understand all the kudos going around. I'm beginning to think it's just a matter of everyone jumping on the popular train of liking this entirely, without being truly honest about it. Just my opinion, of course. And I'm not saying nobody should waste the time. It was an ok horror flick, and had it's good points. But not nearly as great as people are claiming.
@@batshtcrazy5293 so sorry you couldn’t enjoy it, but glad you could add a different perspective!
Orlok, he's name is Orlok
The shot of the castle in the distance was just magnificent
Easily my favorite shot!
I was fortunate enough to attend an advance screening of the film a couple of weeks ago and thought it was fantastic. As you mentioned, it feels as if Robert Eggers was born to make this film.
That’s awesome!
Must go se this its opening here in Sweden 3 of Jan cant wait 😊
You aren’t gonna be let down!
Good movie just really long best advice is to watch this movie early in the evening nothing after 9pm you will be tired if you do
Love your review.
Thank you so much!
I read the book of Dracula as a child over 50 years ago, and have always noodled on how this story could be adequately conveyed in a movie. I think Eggers got the surreal nightmare of the events just right visually, and the appearance and voice of Orlok were absolutely genius. Free from the familiar vampire tropes, Orlok evoked a palpable menace that I have never experienced in any other movie about this story. I've read some complaints about his appearance, but this is a bit like complaining that Ted Bundy did not look like a serial killer. I craved a lot more from Dafoe's character and especially his voice, and I would have preferred the movie to be presented almost entirely by the professor in the past tense, describing and/or setting up sequences through narrated journal entries from the various characters. I would have also appreciated an edgy scene with the traditional cat and mouse between Dafoe and Orlok. I often felt that Ellen's frequent verbal exposition of her plight to be a bit awkward and unnatural at times (except for the excellent sequence between her and whatshisname regarding his lack of cocksmanship), and I think this might have been more elegantly portrayed as narrated journal entries of her forbidden secret thoughts, as she wrote them. And it would be the discovery of these journal entries that would inform Van Helsing on the true nature of the relationship between Ellen and Orlok. I guess I am kind of wishing for a mashup between Coppola's story telling style and Egger's nightmarish visual style.
Glad to hear your thoughts!
i loved it
Same here!
Flawless movie! Nice review sir!
Thank you so much!
As you said so well, this one definitely lived up the expectations. Not only a well written, beautifully directed film but one of the best vampire films ever. An overall winner
You can't make a movie about a villain and not make him a villain. They give us a Kraven The Hunter origin movie, and Kraven kills not one animal. Utterly ridiculous.
Took the words right out of my mouth! Can’t stand how they keep trying to make some of marvel’s most interesting antagonists into bland anti heroes.
Sounds like it was fortunate that I was not able to get out to see this one yet. As you said, from the trailers, it showed promise, but unfortunately, it was another non-deliver from Sony.
Easily the most disappointing of all the Sony movies because it held the most promise.
I recently stumbled across your channel and just wanted to say that your content is top notch!Really great stuff man.
Thank you so much! Means the absolute world!
Hot movie
I have now viewed "Heretic" four times. Mr. Reed is a polygamist. --
sorry but found this movie in sufferable lazy and a total disappointment in comparison to the preceeeding movie. it was literally the first movie redone shot in a different sequence with terible dialogue and none of the multilayered themes that were in the original.
Always glad to hear differing opinions! Sorry this one didn’t work out for you!
Great video thumbnail
@@michaelktran all thanks to my lovely girlfriend Cam!
I think the screenplay could have been written better with more depth and more meaningful dialogue, but overall it was a good movie. My favorite characters were the two emperors. I also thought that Lucius should have had more to endure than he did. He’s treated almost kindly by Macrinus. I mean, one scene he’s in a hot tub.
I can totally see how you came to that conclusion
Yup, totally agree with you on this one. I found this movie to be throughly enjoyable, although I left feeling like it was missing the ‘it’ part. I think the movie should have built on Denzel’s character more, and it felt like it lost the plot with the protagonist wife’s death because it seemed that would be the main driving force but then it was ignored and made away with too quickly.
Totally agree!
Your assessment is pretty much what I was expecting, which is fine. My initial reaction to the notion of a sequel to gladiator was very pessimistic, but this seems like it will not be a cash grab sequel. Even with my initial reluctance, the idea of release Scott working with Denzel will immediately make me give this benefit of the doubt.
Felt the same way!
Great video! Looking forward to seeing the movie :)
Thank you! You wont be let down!
I don’t know how this one flew under my radar, I’ll have to check it out
Certainly one of the standouts of 2024!
How are you doing today and how your day? As for this movie, it was cheesy. I have to be honest. I dont know how this movie got a trilogy but it did. I guess there plenty of Venom fan out there that really like it. The acting was suspect, the villain was some lazy bum who want Xenophages monsters to do his job and Venom was erratic at times and the General was screwing things up.
@@TennisReaperCinema-vp7bw im doing well! And glad we agree about the movie!
this guy cannot review movies, did we watch the same movie?
I’m so glad this did not disappoint! This was one. I was looking forward to and I’m glad it sounds like it delivered.
Definitely worth it
I will NEVER let anyone tell me this movie is bad. I FUCKING LOVED IT, SHITTY PACING AND EVERYTHING. This movie is a PUNISHMENT for the people who saw the first movie and glorified Joker, instead of pitying Arthur. The Joker is a byproduct of a failed society, an emotion after too many bad days, Arthur is so much more than that. Harley fails realizes to this, but when Arthur plays into it, she abandons him. She fucks up his trial by making him play into his emotions and was the one thing that gave him joy, then she rips it all away from him. Just like the audience, Harley doesn't give a fuck about Arthur, they just want Joker. Arthur being killed was the best decision they could've made and it's what many people suspected after seeing the movie, idk why people are tripping about this. Even if Harley didn't fuck up his trial, he still would not have been happy, he'd still be thrown back into shitty society that failed him. I think the songs should've been more reserved to his fantasy but for most part they definitely push the story (except for when Harley's outside the courthouse and the interview) and the Gary puddles scene could've been funnier but yeah, THIS MOVIE IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU ALL FUCKING DESERVE
@@Al_Pachimpo glad you saw something in it no one else can!
It's different. It's offbeat. It's most definitely unconventional in its presentation and delivery. It possesses supreme visuals. Some call it a mess and say it's unbalanced. It is, in fact, a beautiful mess and is perfectly unbalanced. It's a Francis Ford Coppola masterpiece.
@@FineLineMotionPictures glad you can get more out of it!
Thanks for the shout out! It was great to catch up with you as well and see a movie, it had been a while. It seems that we had similar views on this one, great aesthetics, minimal substance. I did like what they did with Arthur’s character although the final product did not quite deliver to the potential that could have been.
Totally can see your point of view!
It may be sometime before another movie creates such a broad spectrum of opinion in comparison to what this movie has already brought. It seems that the artistic expression is the main thrust of the movie, even at the expense of plot and story structure
I think that’s what i appreciate it the most for!
Him not knowing Demi’s name is crazy 😂.
"Demi Moore". The ex-wife of Bruce Willis. She was a guest star on The Master TV show in 1984. Gene Siskel hated her remake of The Scarlett Letter in 1995. Dinty Moore is a tin can filled with beef stew.
Gonna have to check this out!
Certainly worth it!
Am I crazy to think this is one of the best movies I’ve seen? And I’ve seen a lot. I’m 38 and haven’t been this excited about a movie in at least 15 years, it was so cool
@@bertonspat129 not crazy, totally understand the love for it!
I feel exactly the same!
Great review.
Thank you!
This is more or less what I expected, a good, but not great. Follow up to an older classic. I suspected that Keaton himself would be the strong Old of the film. Still, good is better than bad so we will take it.
Certainly not awful like I was dreading, and certainly the best Tim Burton project we’ve had in years
I did not know about this movie until I saw your review. Now I’m very intrigued to check it out!
@@royludwick1308 definitely worth it!
The idea of having to prove demonic possession in a court of law was extremely intriguing! Too bad this movie wasn't that at all. I absolutely hated this movie. The whole family immediately moves on from the crazy exorcism they were all present for. Arne begs the demon to take him, acts surprised when things start happening to him. Later on, while everyone is trying to save him, he chooses to lie about whats going on. There's the scene where the witch is trying to stab Lorraine even tho she knows ed has to kill her for the ritual. Not to mention, the whole child, lover, and man of faith aspect of the ritual is thrown out the window even before the movie gives the explanation on how the ritual works (the first death was the lover, and david is obviously the child, but by taking arne instead of david that destroys the concept for the ritual). Ed surgery and cane are thrown away the moment it's convenient, when he runs and pulls Lorraine up from the cliff. The only consistent thing throughout the whole movie is ed needing and forgetting his pills. And the witch has no motive for what she's doing, aside from she doesn't need one she worships the devil. Acting was fantastic! As I'd expect from the actors and actresses. As well it was very visually pleasing. I'd give the movie a solid 2 out of 10 because the only reason this movie was worth finishing was because I paid 6 bucks to rent it and I watched it on my breaks at work
🚩Prometheus was & still is the BEST of ALL🤏
Totally agree with your review! I wanted to go to the cinema but instead watched it online. Glad that I save my money for a ticket.
Should’ve done the same!
Yikes! I think you just saved me the money for a ticket on this one!
Definitely skip itN
I’m crushed that I wasn’t able to see this opening day, we just got back from vacation but I’m looking forward to sharing thoughts about this one
@@royludwick1308 same here! You were missed at the screening!
Nice, straightforward, no-BS review - really got me interested in watching this - cheers from Copacabana, RJ.
Thank you so much! So glad you’re gonna check it out now!
Well, I liked it alot more than Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Actually, I agree with someone on Reddit who said Pearl was more psychlogical horror and this was a summer slasher. I would add the other 2 were more contemporary horror and this was like the VHS tapes featured throughout, which is my era so I loved it.
I read an interview where Oz Perkins said they were borrowing from other movies and conscientiously trying to create a pop art piece. I can kinda see it, though I don't know what the T Rex thing has to do with the movie. He also didn't say why the character is called Longlegs, he just says it's cool because it sounds like a Led Zeppelin song, or a vintage 70's thing.
Very cool!
I just realized now. The T. Rex song where he says bang a gong, get it on is referencing the metal orbs Longlegs was using to influence everyone. But I still don't know why the director would say Longlegs has that name because it sounds like a cool 70's thing when the movie was set in 90's evidenced by the Clinton photo in the FBI office.
Im Tom Hardy fan..good job..Justin Butler for get about it he didn't do anything for me..the movie it self seen this kind of movie many time it wasn't anything special about..its True 🤔
Austin Butler
A great sequel.
Glad you got more enjoyment out of it than I did!
I’m checking this one out on Thursday. I didn’t know it was based on a novel
Gonna be a delight!
Based on a book of photos and interviews of a real Outlaw Club. Kind of like looking at a photo and it comes to life like James Cameron did on Titanic
