I love that tune and I like what you're doing however you need to understand the correct scales to play over that chord progression. Here is the chord progression first. [: Cmi9 (C Dorian mode C-D-Eb-F-G-A-Bb-C) [ Fmi9 (F Dorian mode F-G-Ab-Bb-C-D-Eb-F) [Ebmi9 (Eb Dorian mode Eb-F-Gb-Ab-Bb-C-Db-Eb) [Abmi9 (Ab Dorian mode Ab-Bb-Cb-Db-Eb-F-Gb-Ab) [Bbmi9 (Bb Dorian mode Bb-C-Db-Eb-F-G-Ab-Bb) * You can also use things like the minor pentatonic scales on each chord [C minor pentatonic C-Eb-F-G-Bb-C] F minor pentatonic F-Ab-Bb-C-Eb-F) [Eb minor pentatonic Eb-Gb-Ab-Bb-Db-Eb) etc... Also try to choose COMMON TONES between the scales, in other words notes that are shared in the scales in this case notes like Eb, F, Bb, & C etc. Don't hang on wrong notes like the major 3rd (E natural, A natural, etc) because it reveals that you're not actually familiar with the appropriate scales to play and worse it shows that your ear doesn't hear that.
