How to paint over wallpaper with Zinsser Wallpaper Cover Up
I’ve just used Bartoline filler on my stair holes. Used a coat of this. Waited an hour and then put a top coat of white Matt paint on. It’s cracked around certain places. Any help??
I’ve just screwed down my stairs to stop creaking. I’ve filled the holes around the screws with filler. Sanded and used BIN 123, one coat. I’ve then used Matt white wood paint. It’s taken well apart from where some places have had filler its cracked? I don’t understand why. Can you help?
Without sanding, ffs, i sanded everything first 😂
Is this particular one stop the urine pet odour? Please let me know 🙏
It does peel off, along with the paint over it. I put up a dog gate across a doorway and it scraped paint off where the suction screws go. That said, I used it to cover lead oil based paint from the 50's and '70's and it seems to be staying well and not peeling where it isn't being subjected to hard friction. All i did first was wash every surface with distilled vinegar and water.
Can this be used to seal bare plaster ? Have some spare and need to do behind where took rads off rather than do mist coat with emulsion
Hi. Hello from Argentina. I’m using a primer paint of your brand . I’m a beginner. Is an automobile body. Is a top product the adhesive in metal sheets and plastic as bumper and other car parts are just incredible. I’m amazed because I have never doing this before. We have some issues on imports and exports. But certainly I have found into a paint shop your spray can 321 or 123 bulls eye primer . *wonderful product* highly recommend.
Can you apply this paint to interior plastered walls
Yes you can
I purchased 3x 5ltrs of this paint in April. You should see the state of the tin after 2 weeks of opening, full of rust and staining the white paint. I contacted Zinsser UK and heard nothing back! It’s too expensive to use cheap containers
I have a stained concrete floor indoors. I have sanded it to remove the gloss topcoat It had a few places where a rug pad had left residue that I got off with the sanding put damaged the stain in a few places leaving a few spots showing concrete surface which is pretty smooth. I was going to prime with zinger 123 and then a solid stain for concrete and sprinkle the chips in epoxy coating. Should I use the zinger or only the solid stain
A quick question to everyone I'm using b.i.n on fresh stair case just need to ask you do I have to do undercoat on it before I do top coat
They made this far too thick to be able to use effectively
It is also thin as water and will splatter everywhere, good luck if you get it in your eyes. I would NEVER use BIN to prime interior walls unless you needed it for stain blocking.
I tried this on a water mark on a white ceiling and it dried a yellow/creamy colour. Is this normal or should it dry white?
Hi Zinsser, what model of Wagner airless sprayer is being used in the video to apply Allcoat. Does it need thinning with hvlp?
Used on my fibreglass camper van roof, and lasted well.
Blockade is just as good and much cheaper…
Can I use this on top of varnished plywood panels which are going to be wallpapered using paste the wall wallpaper? I'm in the UK. thanks
Covers the stain then you cant cover the bin itself without it showing through. If anyone knows how to cover it without having to paint the whole surface in bin let me know.
Sand it....and it may take a few coats to cover .
This stuff does NOT work over oil based paint in spite of what the can says. I sanded thoroughly with 220 and wiped with toluene. It comes right off. I have major work now to remove it from multiple doors and door frames to start over. I was a fan of this product because it works on bare PVC. Save yourself some time. Sand and use oil based primer if moving to latex paint. Unfortunately, this isn't a viable solution for going over oil.
Can Cover Stain be thinned? If so, what with. I’ve got half a tin that has got thick over time. I presume something has evaporated from it!
Need to coat bare MDF shelving. Questions: 1) After using 123, can I get away with NOT painting, considering you specify an "Eggshell" finish at amazon. If not, exactly why not? Can the 123 finish stand up to cleaning the shelves with a wet cloth? I don't need any decorative paint. 2) Does 123 seal in the out-gassing of the formaldehyde from the MDF?
It didn't adhere to my doors and door frames, scratched off with a fingernail. Zinsser BIN does adhere though. I would reframe from advising it adheres to glossy surfaces.
Surface preparation is important.
@@Zeus-dw1cxyes, I do know. It got sanded and wiped with methylated spirit. Bullseye does not adhere to surfaces previously glossed.
Shit product. Primed back sides of cabinet doors w it in my shop came back 30 hours later and it failed a finger nail test badly. Other oil based primers…even oil based kilz works much better. I only tried cover stain at the advice of a 40 year paint salesman.
Hi there, thanks for your message. Could you let us know your preparation of this project? Our technical team are happy to assist with any projects and you can email them on techsupport@tor-coatings.com.
I paint brass model trains and Zinsser 123 can be sprayed with an airbrush using isopropyl alcohol as a solvent to thin it for the air brush.
No point asking these guys anything. They never respond. All they do is sell useless fake products and take your money. Comments are disabled on many of their PROMO RUclips vids because of how much negative feedback was being submitted. Zinnser Gardz and Peel Stop need to be taken off the market immediately....with more of the products to be investigated for actual useability as soon as possible.
There is simply going to have to be an industry investigation into the whole of the zinnser product range. These guys are complete snake oil merchants. Zinnser BIN is reacting with everything it comes in contact with. Zinnser Gardz is the expensive answer to a question nobody ever asked. And the biggest con of all is the ridiculously useless product called Peel Stop. It has never in the history of painting stopped any old paint from peeling. Paint has stopped peeling in spite of it being used is fair to say. Professional painters with years of experience that I have spoken to , would not allow a zinnser product inside their van , let alone use one. And why have comments been disabled from some of their promotional RUclips videos ???? The Peel Stop vid has comments disabled , but I remember before that happened and deading how the company were getting slated for how disgracefully useless the product was....some even saying how much damage to existing paint work it caused. A paint product with comments disabled ??? That's fishy to begin with. Something needs to be examined urgemtly , and claims that the company make to take hard earned money from DIY enthusiasts need to be verified.
1.5x speed. Your're welcome.
So are you
Do we need to mix it with water or just use it right away?
I’m still getting bleed through on light oak.
I used it and it peeled off despite all proper preparation and first coating with Zinssers recommended undercoat. My advice is avoid.
What substrate?
Completely agreed. Professional painter for 17 years never had a product do what this crap did, peeled cracked, nothing wrong with the prep same as always, dust free ready to go. Avoid this product at all costs.
Never had this problem. What product did you use to degrease? Might be silicone contamination. This product has never let me down, as long as the substrate is in good shape en well prepared.
Hi. Can soil then be put up against the cinderblock once the two coats have dried
About to use this on some Maple Wood twin beds from my great great grandparents. (Typically wouldn’t paint wood, but a lot of the posts were eat up with pine beetle holes and busted so I had to build it up with wood filler bondo) so it won’t look good stained
Given that Zinsser has seriously good obliteration qualities, why in Swansea did she wipe off the coat she'd just spray-applied? Seemed a bit odd to me.
Can you paint over this primer with a water-based exterior paint?
Hi there, of course.
That's the point. But you can go over oil paint and that's why I used it, to make the transition to latex.
That bloke with the beard has quite a high pitched voice!
It’s not anti-corrosive though?
Ridiculously priced now! I thought it was pricey pre-covid, but worth it. It's an awesome product! But now, over $75 per gal at the big box store!! I'm having to disregard some of my projects, it's just not worth it anymore. And yes, I understand a lot of the price hikes were due to supply & demand during the height of the pandemic but, a lot has recovered and resumed to standard business, these prices are not necessary now.
Do not mix 123 with 123plus. Even though they are both water based zinnser products do not mix. Ill tell you how i know... i did it not realizing the difference and the results were a bucket of primer that started to solidify within minutes. It nearly plugged up my airless but i caught it and cleaned it out in time.
You'll never stop mould
Self priming but not on bare plaster ? How's that like? Just piss it get it on
Can I use this on wood ??
Can this be used on a concrete bathroom floor for tiling?
Can it be used on the ceiling and should it be sanded afterwards?
Hi there, yes it can however it is not a topcoat. If you are looking for a topcoat please take a look at our Perma-White or AllClean emulsion. Thanks
Can I apply to woodwork trim that initially had oil baed paint on it, was painted over with water based paint and that started to peel?
Hi there, we would either recommend B-I-N or B-I-N AQUA for this project.
The price is insane, compared to three years ago!
Yeah. COVID is to blame. It made it harder to get the materials that are used to make it. Same goes for paints and other paint-related products out there.
They've made your hair look pink. Nice!
Looks like it has to be applied at night then...
Using on spackle on flat paint. Can I paint the flat colour overtop the same day?
