Dismantling the Petrified Fish Baby Beluga and showing off a few bit drivers.

I got a thingamajig to hold my phone and made this takedown video to try it out. Nine and a half minutes of... Likely unnecessary content. It's an exercise in letting people know I'm not perfect. Lest there were still any confusion on that. I mean look at me messing up over and over again. The flying pocket clip, the fumbled screws... And whatever that backspacer mishap was. That kind of public...
Why I don't make how-to home maintenance videos... and incoherent ramblings.

Knives 101: Back Locks

Folding knives lock (or don't) in a variety of ways. The back lock or lockback mechanism is found on a lot of traditional, classic American knives. It locks the blade open. To release the blade, you push down on part of the spine of the knife. P. S. The Cold Steel tri-ad lock may more specifically be categorized as a mid-lock. Folding knives lockup (or don't) in a variety of ways. This video introduces the framelock, one of my favorites. P. S. The Mini Natrix lock is actually a sub-framelock knife. I neglected to clarify that.

    I have that locktite problem! Can I just boil it in water for a few seconds? Or would you not recommend this for a baby banter? I also try to remove the thumbstuds to make it legal in my area, because laws suck and any knife that can be opened one handedly and locks is illegal to carry, no matter how small it is:/

    Where did you get the knife pad that you are working on?

    • @Minecraftrok999

      Knaf company has them. If I understand correctly Ben Peterson (who designed this knife) is either involved with them or outright has an owning share.

    What a cool electric screwdriver! I've never seen one used in a knife video before. Also, I've got to say that this blade sure is tempting to purchase!

    • @edc-n-stuff
      @edc-n-stuff 3 года назад

      The screwdriver is a bit much for occasional knife maintenance but it saves a ton of time with big jobs. I'm definitely happy with this purchase! Though there are a few things I'd like to change about it.

    Thanks for posting this unboxing! I like FINCH's design style, and think the 1929 is the prettiest of their lineup. Such elegant lines, from any angle you look at it. I haven't had a chance to hold it in my hands, but appreciate its heft and am definitely curious about the fit and finish - it looks alright from all the pictures I saw online. The comment about it being a "church knife" is spot on, the cocobolo or the carbon fiber versions definitely have a "gentleman's knife" feel to it, even being a little chubby. I agree the price point is a little salty for something manufactured abroad, but I'll hold on to my verdict until I have a chance to see it first hand. Sometimes the design is so good it makes up for the cost. Thanks again, Amy - I was curious to see the 1929 "live". @ed_edc

    In 1 min 34 sec you explained liner locks, showed five different versions in action, and then showed the the guts of a sixth knife -showing the actual stripped down liner/lock by itself. It was great. So efficient..like liner locks!

    I just subscribed after following you in Instagram. I appreciate your short videos that get right to the point and come across as natural and genuine. Some RUclipsrs go on and on forever with long vids. That’s fine for those who want to know EVERYTHING about an item, down to the Rockwell hardness rating out to four decimal points, but not me. All I want to know is the size, weight and approx cost, and then give me the basics. You’re hitting home runs in my book. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Oh, your comment on the hat video about the “extremely gay” patch was hilarious! You go girl, stick it to ‘em! 😄

    I love learning the different ways people operate their knives, and for frame locks, you're the first I've seen that disengages the lock with your index/closes with your thumb! Great covering the bases for knife newbies, too! Keep the videos coming, Amy, they're great! PS - Surus are 💎💎💎!!!

      Thanks! 🤔 I think how I open framelock varies depending on the knife... now I must go open and close them all repeatedly to see which way I normally do it.
