Noodling around… improvising in open D over backing track. Just practicing and trying to get better at improvising/playing over backing tracks. Advice and constructive criticism welcome. Thanks.

I don’t know why this song is so damn hard… I really love his style though.
Cripple Creek / Dixie Mash-up on banjo

Haven’t been playing much banjo at all … to be honest. But figured I’d upload a video taken last month of some banjo playing. Will work on Dixie by itself and try to upload video of that solely. Thanks for watching. #banjo #oldtimemusic

Double Drop D / Open Tuning Song Idea (unfinished) - “Bells”
Просмотров 252 года назад
Trying to make the intro (and various other parts) sound like bells of some kind or like a clock(?). Another unfinished idea in open (“double open”) D/Vestapol tuning. The goal is to complete all of these works within time and piece each individual idea together to make one long “journey” of a song. Sort of like John Fahey’s ‘America’ album. Thanks for watching.

My life for the last 3 months
Definitely takes a bit to get the motion down.
Put some clothes on...the world is watching you!🙄
Sounds good
Thanks man.
Please tune the high E string. It's flat. Other than that, it was lovely.
Thank you. I’ll take note of that.
Nice man!!!
Thank you Chad.
Hey man ! Nice playing ! Your guitar looks just like my father's ''Seagull'', made by 'Normand' in Québec province. I was wondering if you know who really wrote this song. John or Elisabeth ? I used to listen Sun River blues for many years and I discovered Vastopol today and I can't find who sampled who. Thanks man !
Hey man. The guitar is a Seagull S6. If I’m not mistaken, Seagull is a Canadian brand of guitars. Good question. I think Vestapol is a traditional/Americana type of song. So I don’t know if anyone knows who really wrote it. It may be inspired by the song Sevastopol. I’m spotty on the history to be honest… but I think it was just a popular parlor type song that many artists at the time (early 20th century) did their own takes on. Thanks for commenting and watching man.
@@Ragtime_Gypsy Hey ! Thanks for the answer ! Yes , Seagull is a Canadian Brand, made in the province of Québec. The United States is composed by many States. Canada is composed by many provinces. Thanks for your answer about the origin of the song. P.S. Sorry if my writing sound rigid. English is not my frist language :)
And to be exact, Seagull is a brand owned by Godin. Godin make a lot of guitare under different brand however the patent of the assembling. ( Seagull, Art & lutherie, Norman, Simon & Patrick, etc) The shop is called Guitabec and they're located at La Patrie, Qc, Can. It's about 40 min from where I live.
@@eltoutnu Thanks for that info. Didn't know that. I bought a Taylor guitar recently. Still find myself going back to the Seagull S6 though. Both are equally as good, IMO. A little different but equally good. The Taylor was a lot more expensive, lol.
BRILLIANT
Brilliant and you are correct it is a tricky one to master.

Nice performance and arrangement , keep it up! 🙌
Thank you very much!
Yes, its that point with that pinky. Even in the pink its just mentioned as a part of fretting
Hello. Not sure if I understand what you’re saying. Can you explain further? Does the video help at all?
jep absolute perfect. its just that fingertipping with the small finger and how you time it right and that I have a hard time pressing the fret
@@kontravers5357 I see. It sounds to me like it is simply an issue of finger strength. Which is not a bad thing necessarily. You just need to practice this for long periods of time - slowly. To built up the strength in your pinky. It just takes time. Practice slow and steady and you will have it perfected in no time. It could take a week or two of daily practice. Keep on keeping on! You’ll get it.
VERY NICE 🪕
Great playing👍
Thank you very much. I just started playing with a metronome recently (within the last 3-4 weeks) and I believe that has really done wonders for my precision in a short amount of time. I hope soon to upload “updated” versions of these songs. And more covers as I will be having more free time to play guitar and improve coming up shortly. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@Ragtime_Gypsy That is great and i think i will have to try and use a metronome to help with my playing. Sounds brilliant i look forward to your other uploads.
@@paulmillard3252 thank you very much. Glad to have you watching. Have a great day Paul.
@@Ragtime_Gypsy Thank you and have a great day too.
could you make a video on the first part? I dont get it what I should do with the pinkie... :( ragtime ramble is easier for me, I just forget the rythm there
Most definitely. Sorry for the the late reply. Are you still interested in seeing how to do it or did you figure it out? I’m away at the moment but I will be able to make a video within the next week; for sure.
@@Ragtime_Gypsy yes
@@kontravers5357 just made the video. Let me know if it helps.

Hi. Nice job. I’ve been playing these pieces for over 40 years. I still need to have the tab open in front of me. Stephen don’t look at it, but I can’t play until t without the tab being open. Cheers, Max. 😁👍
Thank you very much! These sure are tricky! I've been stuck on Boogaloo Down La Rue for like 3-4 months now I'm sad to say... I think my guitar is in need of a setup and maybe I should have it down. I love these little tunes. Thanks for watching and commenting mate!
@@Ragtime_Gypsy I’ve been playing these pieces since the 1970s. They can be really difficult. I haven’t played much acoustic guitar in the past 3 years and I’m having to relearn Boogaloo and Coney Island Cakewalk. With some of them I still have to have the tab in front of me. I might not look at it, but I need the tab. 😁 I’m waiting for the new book, which I bought a few weeks ago. Good luck. 👍
