Cat and puppy playing together

Our cat, Charlie, and new Boston Terrier puppy playing together. Charlie's generally really tolerant of the puppy's antics, but when he grows tired, or the pup goes too far, he's quick to let him know.

ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!!! My cat got into the quail cage and now my OLNY male i use for breeding is MAULED!! I. So scared, he wont move, but he does hold his head up and turn his head towards me when i move. Advice???
He’s probably dead now but if this happens again take him to the vet ASAP
@RustyBlackbird Hey, this is my first time keeping button quail, and today my female Wild Type laid her first egg. I've read that you should let her lay the entire clutch and let her sit on them, even though they're not fertilized. Should I do that? Or do I just take it out? I want to encourage natural incubation when I place males in the aviary with her later in spring.
is this a mating call?? well, my quails havent made this noise.... until today. i found my male doing this for the first time... its loud, and it was at 3 in the morning, which woke everyone up and gave them heart attacks.... he is 4 months old. guess who he was calling to? his reflection.... lol
one of my males is responding to this right now! they also call back if you mimick their sound by whistling. it actually helped us find one that was hiding in the aviary when we were bringing them in for the winter
Pretty sure only Males do this, females will make noise, but male tend to crow like this, allot more.
why didn't you try to stop it?!?
what color is he? he's beautiful!
I have a button baby..feathers are coming in like it's momma, but it responds to this recorded call like it's a male. the head and chest feathers have yet to come in, as it's only 2 wks old. Maybe a boy?
lol my new male does this all night...cause the hens bein broody
now I know! my males keep doing that and it is annoying but now I know that it is the mating call haha!
My pair would "duet" together, so it's possible that if it's a female she's responding to the recording in that fashion. However, I suspect males will challenge perceived intruders by calling back in response as well. I noticed my females would only call in duet, though, while my males would regularly call just on their own, as a territoriality thing.
omg, im playing this right now and my little button quail i just got is making calls for the first time!!!! its all white so i cant tell if its a male or female. when they answer back to the male calling does that mean it is female?
its the button quail mating call
I had mine in a small aviary, and I never played with him. This video was taken zoomed in from a bit of a distance so as not to disturb him.
They're great little birds. Hope your mom's come 'round!
Glad it helped you figure it out!
How is yours so tame?! Mine runs around like an idiot, so i can't play with him...
That happens about 50 times a day in our backyard. My mom and I refer to them as wind-up toys when the male sparrow starts his courtship dance LOL
i live in north-western new jersye and our summers can be HOT and our winter can definetally be COlD! so just wondering.
Probably, if your climate is warm enough. I don't actually know much in that respect, but they are native to China, so presumably locations similar to that climate would be okay, provided that ample shelter and food were provided for them. Likely if you contacted a breeder they'd have better info.
can u keep button quail outside???
Yes but I would advise you to put the coop on stilts and put tubs underneath the cage keep predators from yanking their feet and put 3 different types of locks on the door and for the screen I would do the screen you use for a screen door so they don’t hurt their little feet! Sorry I’m 12 years late I was only 2 when you commented this 😂
I once saw a male HOSP did that, the female gave hime a peck right between his eyes, and away he went at once. Lol.
I did have a female for a while, but she died and I didn't get a chance to replace her (quail are very seasonal in availability here) before the male also died.
I don't think so, I used to have a female as well and they would 'duet' together. You can tell if it's a female or not if it shows a bib like the bird in my video (females won't have those white facial markings).
This video clearly shows that the house Sparrow (Passer Domesticus) is indeed one of the most vigorous birds.
haha! I love the way the little guy keeps going round in a circle!
do you have a female for him?
