Small videos about the books in my personal library. Some of the books are beautiful, some are not. Some are new, some are old. Some are in great condition, some are falling apart.
But every one of them is one that I either want to read, or have already read. They all mean something to me.

Letters of Travel, Rudyard Kipling

From my library: A collection of Kipling's "letters" from his time in North America (and a bit in Egypt). Please note that this book has two images of the ancient image of the swastika. The Book of Bunny Suicides and Great Lies to Tell Small Kids, by Andy Riley
Very interesting idea for a book. As a side note, I recently purchased a book of illustrations by Gustav Dore. It’s wonderful
Started reading it today. Pretty good actually
Excellent, glad you like it (so far)!
1:33 Persian is an exonym for the language, much like German is for Deutsch, though native speakers often refer to it as Farsi.

Love it! Thanks for the video! I'd love to see all the books in this series.
Thanks for doing the video! I've been searching for exacly a review of this edition.
I'm so glad to hear that I could help!
Sir you helped me a lot. Today I was going to order this collection. Then I thought, first why shouldn't I check it on You tube . Thank you so much.
So glad to hear I've helped someone!
how do I get his book?
Hello, other than the usual searching online, I'm not sure. Sorry!
Thanks I was trying to buy this book but ordering it took months 😅
Is worth to buy? It’s not a complete novels?
@@ronaalthe1991 Well, I certainly think it’s worth it. It’s not complete novels, mostly (maybe there are one or two very short ones, I’m not sure). They’re short stories, poems, and selected chapters. It gives you taste of great works that you might never have encountered otherwise.
This video was suddenly recommended on my home page. Kinda refreshing to see! Got me curious how old books mass were produce books with illustrated pages.
@@janjavate1405 I hope you liked the video. As for illustrations… like you, I don’t really know!
Colors make me think Miami!
@@glockensig Yes! That’s exactly what it’s supposed to do!
So does this include the commentary by Robert Graves? I find that half of these reviews never bring that up. In the books I have Robert Graves tells the myths then breaks down in a commentary what they mean, what their role was in religious practice and symbolism. Is this included here?
@@MemoTercero Hello! They removed the source notes (that is, where he got each story from), but they kept his commentary. From the introduction: “The main text of each section tells the story and the succeeding paragraphs contain Graves's own notes, comments and theories. The introduction, similarly, has neither been cut nor revised; it is what Graves thought at the time, not what he might have written now."
Semi-spoiler alert: Debt to Pleasure presents as a very erudite, witty and highly food and recipe-centric autobiography that would be a delightful read if that was all it really was. As I recall my first reading of it many years ago I only slowly began to realize how many people in the author's life were dying in unusual circumstances and to realize I was reading a fictional autobiography from an entirely different genre... (cue ominous initially low vol pipe organ music from "realize" swelling to max at "genre".)
That's funny! Part of the joy of not knowing much about a book before you start reading it.
You had me at "Argue for your limitations and, sure enough, they're yours." Loved this book back in the day. Another one that stuck with me was "The best way to avoid responsibility is to say, 'I've got responsibilities." So many pearls of wisdom. I still try to practice floating a spanner throwing it in the air on occasion.
Let me know if you get that spanner working!
I Love this novel. Everyone should read it.
would you recommend reading this book in french or english for someone fluent in both languages? I noticed a lot of english speakers discussing it but when I realized it was originally written in french, I looked for reviews in french. However, most of the reviews that i found were in english , so idk which version to choose now lol..
Well, I guess I'd always recommend reading a book in its original language, and this one is no exception!
Is it real leather bound?
Hello, I doubt it's real leather. They feel nice, and seem to be padded.
Great!
Beautiful video, Beautiful book. Thanks for recording it.
Thank you for saying so!
Nostalgic! 감사합니다
천만에요!
I read both books for a book club about 10 years ago. The humor is British, and I didn't get all of it. Those are nice editions; mine are paperback.
Yes, they're definitely pretty!
I just finished the book and boy oh boy was it a slog. I can completely understand why you didn't finish it, I came extremely close to giving up multiple times. It appears to be critically acclaimed but it just wasn't for me.
Yep, there's no accounting for taste. :)
I have been thinking of starting a RUclips channel to talk about books but I’ve always felt awkward in front of a camera. I appreciate you making these videos. I hope you continue to make these videos
Thank you for saying so and good luck with your own channel (if you start one)! :)
A very interesting book. I recommend.
Great book!
I haven’t read this yet but I’ve always wanted to, just haven’t found an edition I like enough to buy. Until now. I love Everyman’s Editions and I didn’t know they made this one.
I hope you enjoy it! Everyman's always produces really nice books. :)
You forgot K.
The book looks so beautiful
It's really nice. I like how small it is. :)
Enjoyed the series. Got the trade paperbacks. Action was good. Food powers were cool and crazy. That chicken was like Chuck Norris. No wonder I did not like him down the line. Overrated. Ending was eh Still a comic worth getting
Thanks for sharing those thoughts! Hopefully they'll help someone who comes here and is on the fence about getting it.
i loved it all of it, I can't stop watching all your video and taking note the books you shared in here thank sir.
Thank you for saying so! Glad you're enjoying the channel. :)
Pedro Carolino did it himself, José da Fonseca has nothing to do with this book
Interesting to note!
@@librarybooks José was the author of a Portuguese to French book, and then Pedro Carolino stole José's Portuguese sentences and feared that the fact that the sentences are the same will be theft, so he just added José's name to the cover to make people think he is a co-writer
Put all the blame on Pedro Caralino. Jose da Fonseca got not to do directly to this " funny disaster" 😂😂😂
What's the point of this book if you don't understand a single word written in it.
@@ivarslatmanis1866 Well, people buy books of beautiful or interesting pictures all the time. The text is just for fun. The images are the real star here.
eyecandy
It's bullshit, but beautiful, intriguing bullshit, so it sells.
It’s art! Not that what you said and what I said are mutually exclusive. :)
Perhaps the introduction is trying to refer to it being the most famous poem in the Persian language that was translated to English, which could be true. Excellent illustrations!
I understand completely why you’d suggest that interpretation! But the rest of the introduction makes it clear that they mean all poetry in English.
That is too cool
I love it. :)
Another great showcase, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
It breaks just opening
I haven’t noticed that…
Prosperity and good luck
Thank you for posting this as I wanted a visual to show my honey 🙏🏽 and he says he likes it
Glad to hear it!
No audiobook of The crsades by Zoe Oldenburg...
I got this one for $20 bucks from the last folio sale, it's a good one!
That was a good sale!
This is a discussion not the reading.
I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean.
"...To ruin the Chinese people so they cannot be saved, the red demon First brings you down with a culture of fighting and slovenly conduct Then fills you up with wicked desire for sex, fame, and gain..." full poem: "Don’t Follow the Red Demon Anymore Cosmic bodies are decaying in the process of formation, stability, degeneration, and disintegration Most people in the world are Gods incarnated, seeking the Creator before disaster Gaining Dafa [Great Law] and remolding your divine bodies-that’s your wish upon coming here In the treacherous human world, how many can keep their nature amid delusion People all know the evil Party is bad Yet they follow along when it lies and persecutes Dafa disciples All know the evil Party is destroying traditional culture Why praise it at its feet when it smears history To ruin the Chinese people so they cannot be saved, the red demon First brings you down with a culture of fighting and slovenly conduct Then fills you up with wicked desire for sex, fame, and gain Before disaster comes, I still want you to hear the truth As the vow you made before coming to the world was pledged on your life March 15, 2017" Master Li Hongzhi (Hong Yin V, from Falun Dafa teachings)

Your library looks amazing! Thanks for sharing. Regarding the "Purchase Date" field, you should probably check BookBuddy > Settings > General > Auto Fill Purchase Date. When it's turned on, the Purchase Date field is set automatically to today's date when a book is added. You can turn this off if this is undesired (the default is off).
The new version allows searching inside Notes and Summary.
Thank you! I hadn’t noticed! That’s really great.
