Improved Ball clock with chime
Просмотров 252 тыс.9 лет назад
This is the new and improved version of my compact ball clock with a chime feature. The changes are mainly there to address issues associated with the of the mechanical reliability and robustness against people "fiddling" with the clock while it is running.

Sjoe I love clocks can you maybe send me the DXF files you used to laser this masterpiece please
Hi Jacobus. This clock was designed simply for fun and was never intended to be a commercial kit. I can send you the DXF file for the laser-cut parts (give me an email address) but I no longer have the assembly drawing, so this would be all the content that I am offering. There are also other parts that you would have to source for yourself (the motor, the gear axels, the chime disc, sundry springs, screws and nuts, ~40 bearing balls, and some parts which I made from bent wire). Furthermore, if you do decide to build you own clock, please don't expect me to also offer a hotline for answering questions - this would be strictly your own project which you tackle on your own.
@andrewyates89 please send one photo from the back .and after you send it can you please delete my email from this reply so troll can't use it
I am working on a new video for a making a simpler version that is potentially an easy -to-assemble kit
Next time put the dog outside. I love dogs, but i can't hardly hear what you are saying.
Did you ever make plans available?
Not proper plans as such - i.e. parts specifications, assembly plans and construction instructions. I have only the MDF cutout drawings. There are also a number of metal parts:- springs, the chime disk and striker, gear spindles, the motor, the balls, screws and nuts, etc.
where can I buy it ? sir
Sorry, this is not a commercial item. It was a project solely for my own entertainment.
What does it cost you to make, and how much would you sell one for?
The big-ticket items are the synchronous drive motor, 40 bearing balls (15mm dia), the laser cutting, and the chime disc. Those costs would depend on your country of residence. The rest is small-change. I made this purely for my own entertainment and had no intention of making kits or completed models. The sale price of a ready-to-run production version (with replacement guarantee) would be decided very largely by the manpower hours of assembly and packaging and sales and marketing admin and servicing requests for spare parts. The sale price would therefore depend on the sales volume and that question is like asking "How long is a piece of string?".
Is this available in a kit form? If not you should, you will make a fortune.
Thanks, David. I'll pass on the fortune opportunity, but you are very welcome to design a kit version and make your own fortune.
Late to the game, but the design holds up 👍
That's interesting!
Hi Andrew. Wonderful, truly wonderful. Would you mind sending or making available to download, the drawings please?
ingenious!
Interesting , could not make imagine if you were a train modeller , the layout must be really attactive.
Genious !
It’s veeerrryy B-E-A UTIFUL 💓💗👏🏻👏🏻🥰💕💞💛❤️😍💖!!
That is cool I would like one but I dont kowe if your selling tham or not that one is cool it basically be a put together with instructions with it
Sorry, I built this ball clock solely for the design challenge and my own entertainment. I have not commercialized the finished model and neither have I prepared a kit version or a set of instructions.
@@andrewyates89 thats fine but is still cool 🙂
Ich möchte Bauanleitung bestellen!!!!!!
Brilliant!
Nice :)
Do you have any plans or stl files that you would be willing to sell. This really is an incredible piece of work which I would love to attempt a build. thanks
Si llegas a conseguir un archivo o alguna información sobre como se construyen, yo también estoy en la misma
Nice clock
Unbelievibal amazinf i Love it
I've just wached this sonned..... wow.... how on earth did all of that shit work and chime....
Wrist watch version please ......
Where are the files?
where are the files?
Are these available for sale anywhere? My ballbearing time machine has given up the ghost and I'm looking for a new one
Seeing that this is all laser cut, perhaps you would consider producing kits for sale.
I want one ..nice!!
Hi Andrew, I wonder if you would be open to collaborating on a variant of this project? Please let me know if interested and how to get in touch!
As long as the clock chimes at every hour. The confusion between 12 and 1 o'clock is still avoidable. Because the balls in hour tray during the transition from 12 to 1 are late in action
What really makes that clock work?
The power source is a small, synchronous electric motor that rotates at an exact speed that is synchronized to the AC mains frequency. in most countries, the power station monitors the number of mains AC cycles and, at some stage during the night, the speed of the generators are manually increased or decreased appropriately to ensure that all the electric clocks in the country that used a synchronous motor are corrected for cycles that were either lost or gained during the past 24 hours.
It would be amazing if you could send me the drawings for this.
Heartbreaking that this clock is not available nor has anyone picked up production for it. Something this brilliant should be celebrated! It seems that several people are interested in the plans and production but honestly, this should be be "productionized" with a major manufacturer to share this fantastic design and remove the burden from you. Please reconsider as there is not much in this space that is available for people like me who are passionate about this type of engineering and design.
Very clever. I remember having the original ball clock in early 80's. I like you design also. Great work.
i would love one of these <3
Andrew, guess what? (It WAS in different colours) I saw the same design of this clock - and it's 1:00 drop, too! The videos were by Wolfspaw Woodworks.
I want to buy one

Where can I get it from
Do you sell this? A kit would be great! Please let us know. FYI. There are a few companies such as “ Ugears” and “Rokr” that make wooden kits of many different mechanical things. I’m sure you could license a manufacturing agreement with them and cash in. I’m quite sure this would sell easily. Good luck
Beautiful work. You could set up a webcam and live stream this.
That's what I call creative.
You know, Andrew, I wish I had this clock... to film the 1 o'clock hour.
If I had this clock, I would film: The Clock The Lifts The Grabber and putting a marble on the 1-minute tray When the 1-minute tray needs to be emptied How it is emptied The seconds mark The big chiming lift Where the balls end up where they wait for the chime to trigger What happens at 1-10 59 What happens a few minutes later The 12 00 moment (the 1-minute, the 10-minute and the chimer recycle trays need to be emptied) The 1 00 moment (the 1-minute, the 10-minute and the hour trays need to be emptied)

Can you send me the project my e-mail? assiatenciaedjs@gmail.com. Thanks.
