This came out awesome. These drums fit so many styles. Buddys band used them and theyre just a lighter rock style and sound great.
Thank you, and yes they do! Even thou the name would suggest that they are for metal music only but they work surprisingly well on any genre. And what is even more surprising, is that for the first time I truly feel that there's no need for external processing on drums. For example, I only used the inbuild Tilt EQ and Transient designer for this track and was totally happy with the results I got
Great hearing them in a different musical context. I think it's a misconception that drums need to be dialed in for a specific genre - most genres benefit from simply great sounding, punchy and well recorded drums. Great song and playing - gives me extreme pornografiti vibes. Did you program kick & snare like Josh intended at around 127 or lower the velocities here and there for some more soft touches?
Thank you, and exactly! As shown in this and other demos, this drum VST can be used in a wide variety of musical genres. For this I used lower velocities on kick and snare, I think around 105-115. And I actually used Extreme's "Get the Funk Out" as kind of template to write this 😅

Sounds awesome man! Whatd you use for snare velocity for the regular hits? Is 127 choking out the sound?
For slower snare playing, I set it to 127. For blast beats and faster fills, maybe around 70 or so. I don't notice any choking when using 127. I think this library is programmed to handle higher velocities, and it might even be recommended. After spending more time with this library, though, I've noticed some weird volume changes, especially with the hi-hats. When I program really soft hits compared to loud ones, the volume increase feels unnatural. This might be related to how the library was recorded and the number of dynamic layers per articulation. It's not a big deal, just something to be aware of when programming. You can't treat it the same way as GGD libraries, where you try to stay away from like +120 region. This is a different beast 😅
