Love the RS 4 spoke wheel, had one in my RS Turbo back in the 90's and they were pretty rare then, must be like rocking horse plop now to find one.

Maybe it's the angle from your car, but it looked to me like the Cossie went for a gap that was never there unless the Escort 2 didn't turn in!

I just read the article in Autosport about your journey with this car. As a former v6 capri owner and restorer its a pleasure to find you racing this fantastic car. It seemed like you were taking it a bit careful out there but the track looked wet and that sun was awful. Reading about all the work you've done and the history you have with the car i don't blame you for looking after it and yourself. Best of luck for the future, Will definitely try and get to see a classic thunder round this year!

I bought my red 2.8i on 23rd August 1991. I still have her. Nearly 32 years. I also have a MK1 3 litre GT ford capri that is now an ETCC ford works touring car replica in blue and white with 16 inch 3 piece split rims and a box arch body kit with a duck tail spoiler.

Damn that was a fun ride. Shame about the spin, but that was fun

Just found this. So sorry it ended this way. Guy was holding you up quite badly and then just chucked you both out of the race- very sad. I reckon if you had been using a closer ratio gearbox this would never have happened as you would have had more of an advantage into a braking area at the end of one of the straights. Great times..

This Capri is 'Maus nummer fünf', the fifth of the 1974 factory built cars, mostly kept as a spare. To this day I believe it is still part of the Cologne historic collection. Most of the cars racing these days are reproductions, the originals are now very valuable.

I was there as a kid and remember it. The skyline was running with a boot full of water at one point as it kept overheating. The escort cosworths kept breaking down, and ended up in a real tortoise and hare battle with the civics. There were very few M3s, odd as they'd dominated for the 5 years previous. I think there was a Rover metro which also ran in the invitation class with the capri, and was stuck in 4th gear for something like 21 hours. Pity it was the end of an era, the Wilhire and the Birkett relay were great races and I spent a huge number of weekends watching races at either the esses or riches.

That was some wicked driving as usual, a pleasure to watch thanks for sharing. No need for a work out for you after that afternoons racing. Mind you were a little lucky to pull it out of the dirt on the corner and the guy in the little gray fiesta must of laid an egg when you came back on the track in front of him .... hehehehe
