Thanksgiving update from our central Florida Hiomestead

Happy Thanksgiving y'all! Quick update on from the homestead. Easter Eggers are 2 weeks old now and Black copper marans' are in the incubator. It's starting to cool down a bit now and the leaves are starting to yellow.
3 Days Late - Easter Egger Chick hatch

Lucky number 13 was hatched 3 days after her or his hatch mates. She didn't fit in the incubator so I placed her on a heating pad and rotated her by hand for ~10 days. After candling all 13 eggs, I was able to return her to the smart incubator with her 10 siblings. Hey y'all, we bought a 40$ smart incubator from Amazon and hatched some Easter Egger chicks using dry hatch. Our Hatch rate was 100%, not to shabby for the first time hatching our own chicks at home. It's finally fall here in central Florida. The weather has been beautiful. We are in late October a few days before Halloween. The temperature has been upper 70Fs to mid 80Fs. At night it has been getting down to mid 50F. Just prefect. Hope you are enjoying the weather wherever you are. We just got 13 easter egger eggs from Hawthrone, they are in the incubator now. Can't wait to see if any hatch,
No damage after Milton

It is Oct 10th, 2024. We had a scary night hearing the winds and rain from Milton. We lost power and slept through the worst part of the storm trusting in God to protect us.... and he did. Eerily Beautiful Sky-Oct 8th Florida

The sky was eerily beautiful yesterday evening. I tried to capture it on my iphone, sorry for the wobbliness. I have never seen a sky like this. All day, yesterday, we saw strange "cloud formations" in the sky. This is the evening before Hurricane Milton is making landfall in Florida. We are in Citra Florida.

Hi Y'all. Its the day before Milton. "Paradise Lost" Something is not normal about this sky. I am documenting what beautiful rural Citra looks like on the day before Hurricane Milton. Praying for all of Citra, Marion County and all of Florida.

Update for our friends and family up north, we lost power Thursday night around 10PM. The day was great until we lost power. No damage, no flooding, just some minor tree debris.

Hey y'all, it's been awhile. We made it through our first hurricane. God is great. We did not have any damage to our property, just some minor flooding and our trees got a little trim. I live in Ocala, we got through it with no problem. We went through Irma in 2017 it was far worse. Your old oak trees are very wind resistant and will be fine in any wind as long as the tree has no disease.
how bad was the damage there? i was looking at buying a car from citra off of facebook :<
@@DoctorDoggo_ very minor damage. Trees on powerlines. Power is restored now, noticed gas statiobs still do not have gas. Good luck with your car.

I sure hope your trees make it thru without much trouble. They are so beautiful. They were most likely there through many hurricanes, so the odds are very good.

take out those frames and get some wax heavily brushed on or spray with sugar water to promote even drawing and fast drawing. without they will build wonky comb.
