    I’ve literally never done any of this. With chamber not caged measure from the bottom of chamber to center of Clevis pin. Measure where the rod will be 1/8 of in pass the threads on clevis. Cut rod install chamber and lines move slack to line up pin holes.

      A Clevis is a piece that you thread on the brake chamber pushrod to allow you to connect it to the slack adjuster , it’s held by a clevis pin/pins and cotter pins hope this helps man

    My DP motorhome's slack adjusters seems to have some white color grease in it (later i learned it may be some clay type grease). Before I realized the different grease, I applied 2 short-pumps of red high-temp grease I used for my entire chassis / drive-train. Can this small amount of a different grease cause a problem? Can I flush most of it out by pumping the right grease through the slack-adjuster?

    Half turn backed off does/will not be the same every time...DOT looks for specific actuation distance...adjust so all brakes actuate the same distance within DOT spec

    We like your steel wheels in our school bus fleet, we have the service that re furnishes them and I have always thought this was a better option than a aftermarket wheel and due to the thickness or hardness of the metal (lack there of) creates a condition where the studd seat will no longer clamp down when mounted on our balancer.

    Is it possibly that the slack adjuster is over adjusting? I have 1 on a trailer that keeps locking up

      Yes it's possible , also check the drum for roundness, this will cause the slack adjuster to tighten on a highspot and lock up on a low spot

      @@albundy4341 i replaced the drum and brakes and it still lock up. I finally disconnected the bolt that actuates the automatic slack adjuster. I have to adjust them manually now.

    I've had the luck to work for a few companies who's policy was to start brake work at the drums and shoes first measuring thickness of drum lining and shoe depth inspecting for cracks also. Then cam play and finally throw under shop air ending with an applied bleed down system test. Good video, informative.

    2 questions: if they brake drum and lining get too thin, will the slack adjusters stop adjusting? Also, what will cause a S cam to be twisted? Thanks

      depends if the scam jumped the rollers on the brake shoes or not, if not then they should be adjusting normally until then or replaced

    You missed putting anti-seize on the clevis pins. is there a reason you don't show that? Stainless pins aren't going to prevent the friction that occurs from lack of lubrication. Those clevis pin holes are going to rust and close up causing the pins to seize anyway. Must have missed that in the DFMEA?

      Hello Christopher - our engineers advise that applying anti-sieze is an option but not required.

      @@accuridecorp Your engineers need to spend more time under vehicles. The friction at that point (among the many on a foundation drum brake) reduces the efficiency on the force transfer to the shoes. It also creates additional labor when the pin seizes up during service and replacement. It’s a poor application for a clevis to begin with. Why make it worse by installing them w/o lubrication? On long pushrods you introduce considerable bending moments that can fail the rod. Even with standard rods the moment created can cause the service pushrod to wear against the chamber stud housing. But that’s not your problem right?
