i love the fact that this actually has bass
What gear are you using? Ir's?
@@jakefriesenjake I’m actually using a boss katana running into mixpad if you can believe that 😂
@@smoggyimpala9934 my cousin has that little amp. He loves it. Never heard of the mixpad
@@jakefriesenjake mixpad is what I used for the multi tracking, it’s free. All I did was find a relative close tone set and then multi track it.
@@smoggyimpala9934 so the mixpad had nothing to do with the tone? Does that setup then go into a computer with any amp sims? You're saying all the tone is coming from the katana amp?? What is the full signal chain?
@@jakefriesenjake not necessarily. The boss katana does run directly from the amp to the computer there are no amp sims. The only thing being used is the boss tone studio which helps to get more advanced settings for tones.i could probably find a way to share the tones in a google drive folder for you to install.
I managed to get the sound close to James`s guitar but not this close ;) awesome.
Meraviglioso ❤
WHAT INTERVAL YOU'RE USING?
Sounds like pantera tone bro
Lol
Too much drive is making your palm muted riffs muddy, or not tight....other than great sound..

GAH DAYMN THIS GUY"S THE REAL DEAL
Dude that feedback triplet part was so sick lol
I want to buy a guitar cause of riffs like this :D
Do It
If you teach yourself, look up videos from guitar players on what they would do differently if they could start over. And you should definitely buy a guitar.
I learnt by ear and tab like 30 years ago. I can jam pretty hard and have a guitar collection and even hand built an epic flying v (on my profile). I would suggest getting real lessons. I can't read a single professional music note, and don't know any chords. Sucks @@AnalogKid_2112

You haters say what you want to but lars Ulrich wrote a work of art on the drums on this track
He has major contribution in every song and he deserves respect for that
I can’t even hear the notes too much gain 😂 said no one ever
hell yeah
GOD DAMN THAT MIGHT JUST BE THE BEST TONE IVE EVER HEARD bro please do a cover
I know it’s not the justice tone but the tone and playing are great in my opinion nonetheless. Can you please show a full tutorial on how to download all the apps and all of that to get this on a guitar. I not even sure if the sound comes out the computer or what. That’s how much I know about digital amps and all that. Thank you and great job again!!
so fkn good man, I supossed you equalized like bass:100, middle: -100 and treble: 100 hahaha
Yeah something like that 😂😂
@@smoggyimpala9934 damn, how did you get that tone bro
sounds very good in the vacuum, and you play it very well. But i think if you wanted to improve the sound you might consider pulling some out of the bottom end. The black album "sound" was extremely treble boosted by several different eq's in the signal chain allowing it to cut through the mix. I hear at least 2 guitars here but how many layers did you actually record? what does your signal chain look like? Again, i know James' riffs were recorded a minimum of 3 times on the studio tracks to fill the eq and produce the "wall of sound" that many people speak of when referring to that album. Really interested to know know what your signal chain and settings look like though, it is a very good sound.
I’ve got like 6 tracks going here. 4 are the main guitars playing the riffs. A baritone track playing the open e notes and power chords, and the other track playing just the power chords.
those bassy chugs sound soo dope with a good subwoofer
He fucked up big time but, it still sounded great
Yeah lol. I was recording at like 3am.
How did you track them? 60L, 60R, 100 middle?
Yup.
How’d you get this tone? What was the gear and settings used for the clean intro
I have a 1984 epiphone explorer that has EMG 81 60 in it (I swapped the original 85 for a 60). I used the neck pickup. I have a Digitech whammy DT that used the higher dry octave setting to give it a twelve string sound and my guitar was tuned to E standard.
Het’s black ESP Explorer may be my favorite guitar ever. Such an awesome piece of gear
People often don't realise how genius Metallica really is.
Basically liv in Mexico 93
Yeahhhhhhhh
On my side, I see a Translate your Yeahhhhh to English hahaha! But yes, yeahhhhhh!
R u using Marshall’s and mesa boogies??? Sheesh that’s good
Not bad; I've been playing for 20+ years and it's better than me. Definitely some wonky notes that need fixing, but overall it's better than 80% of guitarists will ever be able to do.
Just sounds a bit underwhelming without the drums. You did a great job though
This is sick
it sounds beefy
This is not a cover
Never said it was. Just a tone test.
@@smoggyimpala9934I thought I had sent that to reply to another comment on here ,I didn't mean to sound sarcastic this is really good isolation work ,really good job
@@scottturner1504 lol thanks 😂😂
how many tracks?
4 rhythm tracks. 1 baritone track. And 1 track playing only the power chords. 6 in total.
This is actually my favorite thing ever played on guitar, this or trapped in a corner by death, your rendition is amazing!
trapped in a corner is such an underrated Death song, underrated song in general
😳
Great man! The crunchiness along with tightness is next to godliness!
Very cool sound, played great too
what harmony is that? i know the original is a minor third
nice pfp
@@ryangosling267 why thank you 🤭
eargasm-worthy
You got that so tight, man. Awesome!
This tone is spot on!! I could never achieve something like this with my current gear
thats like, SPOT on. GOOD STUFF MAN!!!
Little on the crunchy side
Oh yeah
lots of people often do think they're hearing something more distorted and crunchy than they actually are. has a lot to do with James' aggressive picking style and technique being so tight.
@@adameves5970quad tracks bro
@@iannrd what adamn said, PLUS, AND ESPECIALLY, the quad track- whoch sometimes they'd make 8 track for those parts.
gooood
oooo shittt goood stuffffff
how do you GET THAT TONE!!!???
The slides were a good touch!
Damn, that's wicked. I would love to hear the whole song remixed with this tone
The bass really brings the riff to life......
This basically is the tone. A tad too much bass and a bit too much overdrive. Sounds killer, but kinda loses some note definition
Has just a bit too much bass, i think the original has jason filling out the low end, besides that its perfect
