Happy Holidays 🎉
Happy New Year!
Going with my son next weekend
They did a great job. Have Fun!
I got a job at Sears in 1996 in the hardware department. It was by far the worst job I have ever had. There was absolutely nothing to do because I worked morning shifts and all the stocking, facing etc was done at night. The department manager was a huge asshole and nobody wanted to train me on the register becuase they would lose thier precious 2% commission on everything that was rang up. I stayed around a week and then just never bothered to show up anymore..that was around the time Sears began its slow decline...a shame
Honestly, I think everyone needs to experience working retail. I definitely learned patience and treating people with respect from that experience.
Thanks!
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
As a lifelong fan of classic monsters, I've never owned an animatronic before. But I would definitely display this animatronic Frankenstein in my bedroom. It's great, and I love the green details, especially the eyes and bolts! Oh well, I can dream! By the way, in the novel his name was Adam, but he'll have to be my Franky or Herman, maybe next year. Sigh. WHY CAN'T HE COME HOME WITH ME FOR FREE!? lol
This was definitely one of our favorite additions!
I would had figured that Sears would be completely gone by 2020. Slowest liquidation ever! Thank you for the video!
I actually stumbled upon this one still being open a little after 2020. I thought about recording it then. It was a shell of its former self a couple years ago even.
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing❤️
Thanks for checking it out!
ours closed many years ago
The one we used to go to (Redmond/Overlake) closed 6 years ago. Amazed this one lasted this long.
Due to the bankruptcy of Franchise Group which acquired Sears Outlet in 2019, American Freight, which Sears Outlet was convert to in 2020, is going out of business. All locations, including Tacoma, are closing
Yup sad to see but the reality of not progressing with change.
4:12 they really taking advantage of that free gym
Right?! 😂😂😂
At least Sears is thriving in Mexico.
Didn’t even know they have them there. Just looked it up and I guess they are independent from the states.
I worked at Sears for years when i was younger going through school and post. I saw the store start to go down after they centralized the cash registers in the early 80's. No emps knew anything about the products anymore and it was just no fun working there anymore.
Centralized? Like less registers and less employees in departments. I definitely noticed there were less employees in the last 10 years
@@pnwpaths2925 This was in Canada, Winnipeg. We had I believe 4 or 5 Sears in town. My little story: I started there as a temp at age 17 in the warehouse counting end-of-season seed packets while going to school - really boring but whatever. But then they offered me perm in the warehouse as a stock boy, prob because they saw I could count. I LOVED it. No lic req'd for forklifts back then, and the crew was so much fun. After about 3 years moved up to sales floor in china dept. It was fun too. Got mom some nice trinkets. Had a nice in-house restaurant back then so we got together during breaks. Met my <3 there too. Then they started doing away with catalog/returns counter, next moved all the dept cash registers to "area" registers, with only a handful of emps assigned to multiple depts to assist customers with any questions. If they sold then they would come up and ring them through, while someone else would fall back and cover depts. So it kind of revolved that way. With shifting to different "register areas" throughout the store as assigned, I found I knew pretty much nothing about what I was selling or ringing through anymore, I used to take pride in that. I even got Emp of the Week a few times. Same deal overall with the other emps. Customers were left dry a lot. Breaks with friends and potential babes was a lot harder to co-ord, so it was just no fun anymore. I might see them in the next urinal maybe. Besides, who do you even do dept Christmas parties with now?? I was even assigned to another store farther away when they were just starting up. But I loved it the first few years. Loved going in. Emp discounts. It was all great. It still broke my heart when I saw the chain falling down but I felt a lot of it was their fault, abandoning customer service etc, even though online and smaller malls were starting to take over. I don't know if it happened the same way in US.
This is heart breaking to any 90s kid. My mom randomly taking us to sears was pretty fun, would always make a bee line to the video game area and play whatever sega or ps1 game they had. RIP Sears....
Same for me as well! The first place I got to try out the PS1! Although Toys R Us was a harder one to lose I think.
Sears Canada shut down a few years ago.
Yeah this one lasted longer than I thought it would in Washington. I had gone in it a couple times recently and it was pretty dead for awhile now.
Sears Canada was dead when they closed entirely in January 2018
By 2022-23 all Sears Hometown locations was closing
And now due to the bankruptcy of Franchise Group which acquired Sears Outlet in 2019, American Freight is going out of business entirely. All locations, including Tacoma are closing. Formerly Sears Outlet until the conversion in 2020
@@youtubeuser7082 Sounds about right. I walk past the former Metrotown location all the time. It was kind of shit in it's last years. Bad sales, bad selection, stores in rough shape. All thanks to that leveraged buyout. If they had the money to reinvest in their stores they'd probably still be around now.
You should do a walk through during rush hour to see how busy downtown gets
I’m over in the Seattle area. Traffic over on that side of the Mountains always seems non existent in comparison though 😂🤦♂️
Ah, the old "department store" aroma. I caught a whiff as soon as you walked in that door.
Yup I can smell it just by you saying “department store aroma” 😂
I thought they all closed already
Close. Down to the last 8 or 9 stores nationwide
they had online ordering beforethe internet was a thing lotpeopledont know that ,but had they kept pushing and used there catalog format for online as wellas catolg they would have dominated ,, and hopfully never met with fast eddie he really sent them down fast , then tried to save it way to late
Sad to see this Sears close down. Very soon the retailer will shut down entirely like Sears Canada did in January 2018. Wonder if the Sears signs will be removed or still likely hang on?
From my understanding all of the remaining stores are closing. End of a once dominant company.
@@pnwpaths2925 So in this case there will be 8 left, which will also close as well, dropping to zero with also online shopping shutting down as well because of Amazon
That / this is because even in this hour, there is still no buyer of the website, brand name, intellectual property or even assets of Sears that has been found. Only buyer was Eddie Lampert, who merged Sears with Kmart. And nobody else. So its over. Sears is basically done at this point
Its Just a matter of time / when before the further closing of so many stores culminates with the retailer taking the next step to shut down entirely / go out of business completely
This Sears used to be a Frederick and Nelson department store built in 1968. F&N was once a department store chain in the Pacific Northwest that started in 1891 and went away in 1992. This place became a Sears by 1994 and the Downtown Seattle location became a Nordstrom Flagship Store
I remember Frederick and Nelson as well! Always sad to see things disappear. The next ones to go will probably be Macy’s and JC Penny
@@pnwpaths2925 Macy's is struggling and closing stores for 2 years, including 50 this year alone
You made it 🎉2024.
Hopefully next year will have something cool to add!
Grew up going to sears in Bellingham and in Lynwood. It’s a shame that it’s fallen so far. Thanks for the walkthrough. I honestly thought we didn’t have any left in WA. After the merger with KMart it was all downhill 😢
Selling off craftsman tools and seeing them show up at Lowe’s, I knew it wasn’t a good sign. There store just never kept up with the times. A lot of memories though!
It's close to where I'm live but far from where you live. Didn't know it last day....thought about visiting tomorrow lol 😅
My wife loves Seafood city. I should do more videos down there 😂
@pnwpaths2925 I went to Jollibee for fried chicken 🍗 🐔 😋
SAD
Definitely end of an era
everything 50-75% off and the tool boxes seemed like they said 40% off....now that's funny. ask for the additional 10$ off I guess or maybe there is an asterisk. (edit: I did see one toolbox for 50% off)
The prices seemed pretty high for only having 7 days left! Mostly everything was gone though.
we are witnessing and living through a historical era as you have noted over and over again since Covid and such. it's interesting and maybe a little scary about where this goes from here imho. I know everything will be ok but what change is next...I mean seriously.
I can remember the sears and toys r us Christmas catalog. Getting so excited for Christmas Day. Growing up Sears was a big part of our families life. I got my first suit there. Drivers Education was there. The tools were the best! Kenmoore was the best! They just needed to adapt to online and find a way to stay relevant. I think they just stuck to old ways of doing things and weren’t very innovative.
used to work at the Tacoma sears (I sold tools), major life events occurred while working there. crazy. that was 2002-2004...hope you are doing well bud. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and the fam.
For me it was Macys. Made some good friends that we are still close to today. Merry Xmas to you guys as well!
Great imagination 😂
Thanks! These Elves are getting hard to keep up with 😂
@pnwpaths2925 I bet
Were is Santa is he kidnapped by him?
We visited him also! That will be a different video though 😂
@@pnwpaths2925oh ok I didn’t know because this is the first video that I saw from your channel
I love Christmas 🎄
We do as well!
I rather ride my scooter than running 😂 happy holidays 🎉
Have you seen the electric vehicle group that does Saturday meetups in Seattle? Looks like a lot of fun!
@pnwpaths2925 my scooter very slow, can't keep up with those fast rides!
Your kids are so cute! Nice video
Thanks! They make everything a little more fun. Trying to enjoy this still liking to do stuff with us 😆
@ we just dropped off ours at the airport to go back to college. Enjoy them!!!😭😭😭
Go to Seattle for the attractions, walk Bellevue/Kirkland/Redmond for the leisure activities. Kirkland is nice in the summer for waterfront stuff, Redmond for woodsy town stuff, Bellevue for especially affluent stuff
Redmond isn’t so Woodsy anymore. It’s our favorite city but it’s change a lot in the last 10 years!
omg your so creative
Thanks for watching!
Damn that is cery creative good job u get new sub
@ thanks for checking it out!
The beard is wild
It’s November 😂. It’s kinda growing on me though
Hello from Australia like all your videos 🙂👍
Thanks for watching! Whats Halloween like in Australia?
Thanks for tuning into our Halloween videos this year. Can’t wait for next Halloween!
Right now in 2024 on Halloween we weee chased by one of those chainsaw man’s I ran away so fast 😂😭😭
This one does a great job! It’s our favorite house to trick or treat at 😂
@ oh lol 😂 the one I saw was so worst it chased us instead
@ that’s the best!
@@pnwpaths2925 yea
Make sure to watch the Texas Chainsaw Leather Face House @ 15:54!!!
This happened yesterday and they already have templates
Yup that’s how the internet works these days. It was probably less than an hour I bet.
These muffins taste terrible
We bought a pack. Haven’t gotten to try them yet 😂. They taste different than the old ones?
@@pnwpaths2925 Yes, a whole different recipe. The texture and taste to me is just off putting.
I completely agree! The Costco muffin, was as much a staple as the hotdog, and I am disappointed in Costco for doing this
I just canceled my Costco membership
Hopefully not over the muffins?!
That product has been the same for nearly my entire life… what a shame
Weird how we get so attached to them! They used to have this awesome variety pack of pudding and then it just disappeared. Food Court used to be coke but is now the inferior Pepsi and with paper straws 😒
Back to Home Depot.😂 I know what you mean about the boxes though. (Storage!!! The bane of home haunters.😆)
Yeah… We are hoping to buy some property soon for our camper. I think it might have a storage shed built on it just for storing Halloween and Christmas stuff 😜. I think we are done with Home Depot Trips🤔🥴
Im so excited🔥🎃
We are also!
I’m glad my wife didn’t see this! 😂
This was one of my wife’s favorites this year. Home Depot already marked down their animatronics
@@pnwpaths2925don't say that!!! 😭 I can see why it's her favorite no doubt 😁💯
To many stuff now are 50%off we brought two online my husband plan to get that Frankenstein
I went back and they gave me the discounted price. They have a 90 day price match. Just gotta stay on top of it!
@@pnwpaths2925 by the way I love everything inside and outside is fantastic decorations our yard are full already.❤️😊
Ours is no longer making bread. Disappointment. New bread is almost sale.
Costco bakery bread?! Crazy!
The Frankenstein animatronic is such a cool prop, and now all you need is a mad scientist lab!!😂⚡️🧟♂️
That would be awesome! Don’t be giving me ideas 😂🤪
