Anatomy of a Scene: Gotham City
Breakdown of the Gotham City scene from BATMAN: REANIMATED. Based on original concept art by Nigel Phelps, one of the illustrators who worked on Batman (1989) under the direction of production designer Anton Furst.
I wanted to make sure REANIMATED was visually distinct from anything that was seen in the '89 film, but that the DNA of Furst's direction was maintained. I've always loved Nigel Phelp's illustrations, in particular his drawing of the West 46th Street promenade created for the 1992 comic storyarc "Destroyer", and decided to recreate his drawing as the establishing shot.

Set in the world of BATMAN (1989), one year later, Bruce Wayne grapples with waking nightmares of his fallen nemesis. As he delves into bizarre crimes rooted in mad science, he’s torn between haunting suspicions and encroaching paranoia. The dark detective cannot escape the chilling possibility: the Joker may be poised for a sinister return. I created the art and animation for REANIMATED over t...
With the success of the Batman '66 comics, we got two animated movies featuring the remaining cast members of the show, celebrity guest stars, and great voice actors. I'd LOVE to see the Batman '89 comics get animated adaptations and even further sequels. There's currently 3 sequels to the Burton/Keaton Batman movies. Batman 89: Shadows, Echoes, & Resurrection. It would be great to see Michael Keaton and Billy Dee Williams face off in an animated adaptation of the movie sequel we never got. Especially considering Michelle Pfeiffer could appear as Catwoman. And getting Marlon Wayans as Drake Winston. Along with actors like Robert Wuhl reprising his role as Knox. And it would be Cool to hear Madonna (Harley Quinn) and Jeff Goldblum (Scarecrow), and Martin Short (Riddler) and see them in animated form.
Love the 1960s sound effects for the 1990s Batmobile - nice touch!
A mix of Illustrator vector tracing over actual footage and 3D modeling. Not sure if I appreciated the style but then it was the Joker returning for no apparent reason really made me question this. I was really hoping for Tim Burton's version of Riddler to appear played by Robin Williams. I feel that would have helped.
Both cool and pointless.
dude this is freakin awesome. Near perfect and beautiful beyond words. Thank you for making it for us
i need to know more about this sonic jigglebath
4:03 Billy Dee Williams’s Harvey Dent
This makes me wonder if they'll do a short animation of Batman Beyond too. I remember seeing both Micheal Keaton movies from that time when i was younger.
2hrs later…. By the time he got to the city … shits over… Night Wing already there…
I like how you included the big walkie talkie that came with the Vintage Michael Keaton Batman Figure. 👍Good Job and Great Animation
Was great to see the inclusion of the handheld radio from the Kenner Bruce Wayne figure.
This is a thing of beauty!!! I was gonna say make Keaton the new Arkham Batman for 10 video games but..... this might be better
Is this AI?
I tottally love this! Please feel free to take a look at my Animated game engined Keaton/Burton tribute ruclips.net/video/9bmyY2kepOw/видео.htmlsi=6B3_cs4FLbQNGrDv
Very cool. I would like a full movie like that.
Brilliant!
Jesus loves y’all
It look like a realistic LucasArts Point&Click
I need a 10 episode season of hour long episodes of this.
Keep them coming especially if it’s From Batman Resurrection
Brilliant! Now we need Keaton to do the voice to a full movie like this. "Where does he get those toys!!"
Definitely we need some more, please !
This was phenomenal. Need to see a full-length movie. 👏👏👏
This is fucking BRILLIANT. Please make more.
Batman 3 movie please
Pretty nice!
I'd love to see you try something feature length or long form. This is awesome stuff!
I'm a simple man. You make it, I watch it!
W🙌W ☎️🦇
Thank you for doing this for us. I sure missed this kind of animation. Plus the old style of Batman where it is all fantasy and not too realistic. I love the visual effects. This is truly artwork at it finest.
INCREDIBLY cool
This is great
Perfeito
Spectacular!
Warner bros, give these people a contract to continue! The 4 mins of this video went by too fast…..
Great work ! A superb tribute to the original movie !
Part two please! I just realized this but Batman is probably the only hero that could get away with having a silent film/minimal to no dialogue like this and it would still rule!!
30 seconds in and I want and need this as a full length feature film in imax.
ASI SE PUDO HACER BATMAN 3 PARA CONCLUIR LA TRILOGÍA 😊
the '66 nod is the chef's kiss. thank you for such a small but beautiful tribute.
I like that the batmobile needs a freaking jet engine to drive at 40mph
This was PHENOMENAL!!! 👏🔥👏🔥
More please
Amazing work. This is so nostalgic. No wonder why RUclips is pushing. Like others have said, it would be great to have a full length movie in this style.
Make a second part
Batman as a 90's point and click adventure
This proves that it’s pretty much up to the fans to give fans the films we want instead of Hollywood dictating things…
Batman Returns should've been like this because it is definitely a continuation & I always loved Tim Burton's version and style when he direct Batman movies.
Phenomenal. Great work..
Full movie, please! Community is here to help.
