Thanks. Nice to see some love for UT-24. Highly underrated road. I wish there were more scenic pullovers on the road, as I'm always aversive to pulling over my low clearance vehicle on the side of the road otherwise. So much great scenery on UT-24, and the colors of the hills change every few miles it seems like.

If you can, you must someday cruise through Southern Utah, Southwestern Colorado, Northwestern New Mexico, Northern Arizona and nearby selected (by me) stretches of the American West. They are the Elysian Fields of North America, in my opinion. Mostly I'm thinking of the sublimely majestic Colorado Plateau, with adjoining island utopias in the Owhyee Mountains of Northern Nevada and the high desert of Southeastern Oregon, both of which drain into the Columbia River and on to the Pacific. And also the incredible grandeur of the east slope of Mt. Whitney, the Owen's Valley of California's Eastern Sierra, and Telescope Peak, towering over the Panamint Range on the Western flank of Death Valley, all of which drain into the endorheic Great Basin. So half of four large states and a quarter of three more comprise the Arcadia of The New World. This is not the lush, green Pelopennese of Antiquity, but the monumental 1,000-ft sandstone walls shading ribbons of riparian cottonwoods, and red-gold unplumbed canyons tucked under dark-sky stars of gem-like luminosity. It's infinite azure skies thrown over dinosaur beds, Pleistocene tar pits with snow-dusted piñon-pine mountainsides in the distance, vernally fragranced, blue-oak savannah, summer-dried buttes and mesas and Autumnal pink Pueblan ruins. It's the sort of countryside that's visited even, or especially, by people who grew up here. They should know a good vacation destination looks a lot like home--mine own, in both cases. Now all I need is four or five acres for a half-dozen goats, a cabin under a cottonwood grove with a view of distant hills, an old upright piano to write songs and a big, sturdy oven to bake bread for guests. Goat-milk butter and rose-hips jelly on toast will coax the dawn up and a Sonoma sauvignon will tuck the sun to set and invite the cool desert dusk to sing us a lullaby--in an old-fashioned idiom of local Spanish. It's the sweet and loving tongue, especially in this 19th-century accent from San Luis, the oldest settlement of Colorado. And especially if the song is "Las Golondrinas," then "Someday Soon," by Judy Collins. A vintage moment in New Elysium.

Wife and I love road trips from Ohio to (almost) anywhere in the US but Utah is our favorite. First trip to the Beehive State was in late 70s. Last time was 4yrs ago so we're due to go back soon.

Very very nice collection of images. Utah dazzles me every time we drive through the state. Soo diverse in its natural beauty from the northern state boundary to its souther border. This state has every natural beauty excepting an ocean view.

Utah is so beautiful and with such diverse and amazing landscapes. The most scenic and unusual place I've ever been.

Must agree, have driven every state but Texas, as far as natural beauty, Utah and Wyoming are at the top of the list and I’ve traveled both extensively. My humble opinion of course.

Picturesque badlands but I wouldn't wanna be out there alone at night, that's for sure.

Your beautiful shots of byway 12 & 24 just refresh my memory of the Utah’s mighty 5 NP road trip that included these two paths. My journey was in late April. I believed the scenery would be different but beautiful in any season. Your images attest to my belief.
