I have uniden 980ssb is a good radio

I have a simple setup you be up in minutes habor freight closable flag pole 20ft at least. If you can get the antenna 50ft by adding a pole sectetion to it thats good.

Use the radio to check swr. It has less output so it survive a few bad swr checks but onnce u see you have to fix antenna and home you need a base antenna

The mobile out window is not grounded so the swr is bad don't do this they use the car as a ground on the mobile antenna so it won't work out window

The meters inline will tell you alot. For the amp check the output power on your meter when the amp is off. Compare it to when the amp is on. But before you do anything with your amp you have to make the sure swr is 1.5 or lower that number represents reflected power, is power that is going back into the amp. So the radio needs to setup with low swr to transmitted the power out threw antenna and not back into equipment. Setup the radio and antenna properly first before you began with the amp. The amp might be fine but If you run it with a bad swr, or bad antenna or no antenna which will all read high swr on meter the power will go back to the radio and amp

Man I may have just done that. I just moved and haven’t put up my a99 so have a Mobile out my Bedroom Window and think my Swr is off. 2547 works but how would u know if ur Amp Section is Blown.? If u have a Minn. Appreciate ur Knowledge. DX Is in but I don’t want to Mess anything up without my Meters in-line.
