Grammy’s Yarn Covered Hangers
Просмотров 42 тыс.4 года назад
Please enjoy this tutorial about how to make covered hangers out of the slippery wire hangers you get from the dry cleaner. My Grammy taught me how to make these and I’m happy to pass this along to you all!

Thank you for the very clear, easy-to-follow video! I’m making 15 of these to be used in a holiday play set in 1977. I’ve made 3 so far. I’ve got it down to about an hour and 20 minutes per hanger. The hardest part is finding a pair of hangers that matches up well. Who knew there was so much variation in wire hangers! Thank you for sharing!

So happy to find this tutorial! I remember having a handful of hangers like this at my parent's house. They were coveted as the best hangers for the coat closet since things didn't slip off. I just found two wire hangers that will work and am going to try my hand at making one!

I think it could but it’s more slippery for sure and might require more yarn to cover than the thin wire hangers :)

Nice covers but my only complaint is that a very, very simple project was made to appear much more difficult than it really is. And cats do NOT necessarily steal/play with balls of yarn. I've had many cats throughout my life and never had an adult cat interested in yarn and I spin yarn so it is always around if they were interested in it. Kittens on the other hand are interested and will pounce on and chase everything! Make your next video as simple looking as the project actually is and good luck.

Wow, Cynthia, thank you so much for your insight. I've watched this video over and over and just couldn't make heads or tails of what I was seeing. That is, until I read your comment. You've turned night into day. The darkness has been lifted by your words of wisdom. Clarity has been granted and never again shall we stray so far from your unwavering guidance. Cynthia, what have we been doing without your gentle, caring grasp to lead us ever so surely into the realm of enlightenment? Perhaps, had we turned our ears to your sage advice, we'd be better, stronger, smarter, and not knee-deep in this pandemic, amiright? Anyhoo Cynth, we should link up. It sounds like you have a lot to offer. You could make a hell of a lot of money on RUclips. You're a little rough around the edges, but with some training and time, you'd make a hell life coach, sweetheart.

I've had many cats throughout my life and they've all been adult cats and they've all been obsessed with yarn and yarn balls. I tried checking your channel for arts and crafts projects but didn't see any content. Pro tip: Make sure that you're providing unimpeachably top shelf content before giving pointers to others.

I don’t understand the purpose of your comment. This tutorial is very clearly geared towards beginners. As a cat lady who spins yarn, you’ve positioned yourself as an expert and therefor not the target audience of this video. Which begs the question of why are you even commenting here? The condescending tone feels like you have a sad little life and just want to make yourself feel important.

Omg. Cynthia! I need your veterinary knowledge- my kitten couldn't give less interest to yarn, but my adult cat is obsessed and will actually EAT yarn if left unattended. Until you posted that cats shouldn't be interested in yarn and kittens should I didn't know there might be something wrong with them? I don't see anywhere that you're actually a vet, but you must be if you're so positive that cats and kittens MUST only react in the manner you described. What can I do if my kitten doesn't like yarn? What is wrong with her???

Hi Lindsay, Thank you so much for making this video! My grandmother taught me how do make these the exact same way years ago and I still have and use many, many of these. Over the years though, I forgot how I made them and have been hoping I could find someone that remembered or knew of this old way. You did a great job! Thanks again....I will get started right away in making some for my friend's birthday coming up!
