This video is the first 3 flights of my DJI mavic air drone. Edited in final cut pro.
timings messed up maybe, mine made that sound under the hood until my timing chain skiipped and broke everything and i had to sell it
Bro that’s a knock
Dude your shit is knocking
I've owned my 2003 350Z for over 10 years, I just hit 156,000 miles on it. It's the timing belt tensioner thats bad. If you continue to drive the vehicle like this, it will die out in the middle of you driving it. The timing belt and tension replacement is $2,700 to fix here in Northern California as of 2023.
Don’t these motors have timing chains? Not being a specific asshole but I think I’m having the same issues and I’m trying to really diagnose it myself and get in there to fix it.
@@DrFunTimeZ2234it’s indeed a timing chain not a belt
@@DrFunTimeZ2234it is a timing chain lmao. These are not timing chain noises. This is a rod knock. If it gets louder when you hit the gas then it's a knock
common issue, engine bearing failure
Mines not throwing codes but is making a noise similar
Sewing machine 💀
I heard a slight knock upon reving. BIG update. I had the ticking noise everyone said was lifters or fuel pump related. Turns out previous owner didn’t fix the oil leak and didn’t top her up. Cams began to be scored inside the block, timing chain and tensioner were shot. If your car seems like it has any kind of misfire or odd idling pattern then check cams and timing chain. I had a very weird feeling the cams or timing was off because at idle after a little drive I cold feel a slightly rough idle for a split second. Almost like a very very slight “thud” between idles and what looked like minuscule amounts of smoke. Cars compression is 100%. Also note if you can hear this ticking noise in traffic echoing off cars or buildings. If so then the issue is deeper than a simple lifter. Lifter repair or replacement will run you around 1500$ all said and done. But I need a whole entire new engine. I’ve owned this car for a little under a year and have only been able to drive it a hundred miles. Lol! Take care of what you own. The guy before me garaged the z , detailed it, kept the interior mint, but as far as engine maintenance he dropped the ball. 70 year old guy I can’t beat up on him but he told me it was a lifter and come to find out it’s the entire motor 😂😂 on the bright side every square inch of the car is mint. Soon the motor will be mint😂 maybe I’ll get to drive it this year
My car recently started making this noise during idle & during acceleration around 2k rpm’s…I was told it was the timing chain/ tensioner..
Also threw a code p0014 and changed the variable valve solenoid and it’s still throwing the same code . Thinking it could be the timing chain ..does that sound correct to you?
@@michaelanderson8694 have you looked at your camshaft positioning sensors? Do you own a hr? If so you have 4. Otherwise I think you have 2. That’s what the code shows online you have.
I do have a HR, 2007 350z. It’s making this noise still. I had the timing chain / tensioners changed ..haven’t checked the sensors . I don’t believe that would be the reason for the noise though? It’s not as bad though ..it’s still there & my light is still on. Imma get it scanned again but I would assume it’s still p0014 code…I didn’t get the OEM part though which could be the issue ..the dude said it wouldn’t be an issue but I don’t see why it would still be throwing the code
I got the timing chain kit w water pump from Z1 motor sports , $750..so I would assume as long as it was put on right then those parts should be fine. I didn’t get the vvt solenoid from that website though . Which I had them changed before the timing kit was put on
Everyone here is stupid motor is blown u can hear it knocking when u rev it, the ticking u hear is the timing chain slapping
What causes this?
Mine was the vvt solenoid
Vvt on a vq?
@@mckinleywoulds1401 yep vvt not vtec or vvti
Guys my local Nissan looked my whole engine bay over. They told me this ticking noise is actually my drive shaft which is in bad shape. Going to have that fixed soon EDIT: these guys were morons they did not fix the problem. 2700$ later and I’m now having my top end taken apart. They told me they were certain what I’m hearing was driveshaft related. I’ll post a video of the entire story soon. They’ve had my car for almost a month plus they damaged my brand new wheels and then had to repair every single one
Yeah they hosed you, driveshaft doesn't spin in nuetral so you wouldn't hear any noise unless you were driving it. Nissan charges about $1600 for a new driveshaft because it's carbon composite and you cannot replace the u joints. To bypass this problem I ordered a custom aluminum driveshaft from a company named Inland Empire with replaceable Spicer u joints for $400 and its actually a tad lighter than the OEM shaft.
Deffinatly timing chain.
@@saucydijon9514 timing chain was stretched, cams were scored good. Need new motor. If he didn’t break it down to the cams we would’ve never known about the scoring
@@Visca_Motion_Pictures jeeeez 😬 that's what I'm worried about. Mine has 137k on er and is due for a timing chain. But I couldn't figure out that noise. I have a lightweight flywheel amd some say it's that. But it only makes that noise when it's really warmed up and only can hear it in neutral with the clutch fully disengaged
So just new cams or a whole new motor?!?
Older z models have a 2 peice bucket lifter the center of the bucket gets dented in By the top of the valve stem ..Nissan later fixed this problem the made a solid one piece bucket ..that's how nissa. Fixed the famous lifter tick
You ever figure it out?
Hello. My car is too. Did you find out about the problem? Can you let me know what is the damage? Thank you so much
Step 1: Get an HR
What’s step 2? I got a hr and it’s making damn near the same noise just a lot quieter.
Step 1: Learn correct grammar.
What's an HR?
@@aspenwhite1509how’d you fix it
That's just a lifter tick figure out which lifter is failing and diagnose if any are far behind
Sounds like your gallery gaskets are bad. I had this problem and the fix was replacing the gallery gaskets. They caused internal leakage which in turn caused low oil pressure.
Ok start with Injectors Spark plugs Oil control valve Fuel damp Chain tensioner ....if non of that works my friend your screwed you need to rebuild the engine top end is loose new valve cups needed cam buckets
Sounds like the lifters mine has the same issue but I tried sea foam and still makes that noise seafoam will only quite it some but the issue will still be there
have u ever got rid of it ??
Its the timing chain or can be the water pump which is connected to it
If it’s the lifters use sea foam , that will help it
I had a similar issue every time I’d rev my car as the rpms were dropping there was a rattling sound n every time I was in 2nd gear same thing happened
we’re you able to fix it ? What’s the update I’m having the same problem lol
@@sly569 I havent fixed it yet but I think Ik what the problem is
@@sly569 I’m pretty sure it’s the timing tensioner
@@ferxcixusbeatz have the same issue ive changed the tensioner and still have the issue im currently still trying ti figure out a fix
@@christianmartinez5501 could be a lifter
TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS ARE LOOSE WHICH IS CAUSING THE CHAIN TO TICK!!
Thank you so much
You have no idea how much this helps me. Also, do you know how serious it could be if I don’t get it sorted out immediately
@Arlowe Lee Vauxhall Astra? That sounds horrible. My gearbox is making grinding sounds. I had to replace the water pump and fan belt and fan belt tensioner. This car has just been a scam.
You cant tell if it's the chain cuz he didn't turn off the engine
It's probably lifters they are mechanical
My g35 does the same thing. Anyone know the solution or what’s causing this tick ?!
Turned out to be the bottom end on mine.
I had a ticking on my 06 G35. Took a giant screw driver and used it as a makeshift mechanics stethoscope to listen to the valve train and coil packs. Front drivers side coil pack was ticking due to a small amount of oil residue build up inside spark plug tubes, causing arcing on the plug resulting in the ticking noise.
@@Charliefletcher0 bottom end of what bruh

Hey man did you ever figure out what was wrong? Mine has exact same thing same noise gets more noisy at high rpm
Hi, yes it was the bottom end in the end. After replacing the oil it didn't work.
Hi I didnt find your VLOG can you tel me what is that sound my car start doing it now
Hi I got the same problem it was the crankshaft ?
@@Charliefletcher0 it didnt work as in the engine was toast?
live and let live yeah I think the end was no good in the end as I sold as spares and repairs not sure what happened to it
Need to adjust valve lash. These engines have a solid valvetrain, it's not unusual for it to get noisy over 100k as things start to wear.
Does anyone know if it could be the dampers that causes this noise? I have the same sort of problem here -> ruclips.net/video/kku0uhGA4co/видео.html
I cut my losses and sold as spare and repair. A lot of people said it's common and to put it a high mileage thick fuel 10/40 from what I remember
Thick fuel? You obviously meant oil, right?
I have the same problem. Was yours the fuel damper?
have you changed the fuel pressure damper's or checked the ignition coils .. You can test them by putting a screw driver on each coil and putting you ear to the end of it . If you can here the ticking than it could mean that the coil needs replacing or its not making contact and needs to be pushed down or that the spark plug needs replacing or the spark plug needs to be tighten . you can also put the screw driver to each damper on the engine to see if they make that sound and if they do... you can replace them and this will get rid of the ticking noise. usually the one in the rear of the engine is the culprit .. check it out and let me know if this helped you out .
I so much appreciate your help, E A Vargas! My ticking problem ended up being the exhaust header gasket. I replaced the gasket and now my car runs like a champ! If you have aftermarket exhaust headers, the problem is most likely the gasket!
Sun ny no I'm actually going to change my cat back I'll tell them to check also The header gaskets ..thanks
