Excellent Walk! I love Brutalist Architecture, a lot of social housing in London was Brutalist influenced after the war and a lot people do not like it. I personally prefer it to the modern new builds that all look the same

Hope you enjoyed my stroll around the Barbican Estate, one of my absolute favourite spots in London. Seriously, it's not just a concrete jungle-though I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that at first glance! The Brutalist architecture might look like something out of a dystopian sci-fi film, but there's a certain charm here that's hard to explain until you've wandered through it yourself. What caught your eye? The stark beauty of the buildings, the hidden gardens that pop up like little surprises, or maybe the realization that the Barbican is way cooler than just a relic of the 60s/70s? Let me know in the comments! 😊

Thanks for watching my stroll through Leadenhall Market and the City of London! 🎥 It was my first video with a new camera, so I appreciate you sticking around despite any rookie moves. I took a little detour around the City to check out the Lloyd's of London building and, of course, the Gherkin-because what's a walk in London without gawking at buildings that look like they're from the future? Let me know what caught your eye the most-was it the stunning architecture, the market’s historic charm, or just how much I’ve mastered this whole "walking and filming" thing? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 😉

Oh England my Lionheart - how I love thee still in my golden years - land of my childhood memories flow - the Bull Inn - a regular stop after church at St Andrews with lemonade and Smiths crisps for my sister and me, with the little blue bag with salt in it. My mum would have a gin and tonic and my dad would have a shandy - over 60 years ago now - I will always yearn for my England all the days of my life - thank you for these types of videos. And Cheers from Wendy

Hope you enjoyed my ramble through Wallingford, Oxfordshire-a town that’s packed with more intrigue than a classic whodunit. Who would’ve thought this quiet little spot had so much character? From the crumbling remains of the castle to the home of the queen of mystery herself, Agatha Christie-talk about a plot twist! And let’s not forget the museum, where things got unexpectedly creepy (that face, anyone?). What caught you off guard the most? The eerie castle ruins, Agatha Christie's cozy abode, or that unnerving museum exhibit? Let me know in the comments!

About the structure in the garden of the house in Coppice Hill. On Bradford on Avon museum website it says “The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was built in 1812 to replace the smaller chapel at the back of the former Maiden Head Inn in Market Street, where John and Charles Wesley had preached. The land had been a rackground, where newly made woollen cloths were stretched on tenterhooks to dry, shape and bleach in the sun. The congregation had shrunken by the middle of the 20th century and the building was threatened with demolition. The roof was removed, but the walls still stand are a listed building. They now form the frame for a swimming pool. The building on the right was the chapel’s Sunday School; it has been converted into a house.”

Good sleuthing, thanks a lot for letting me know! Very fancy having the outer walls of an old Georgian chapel surrounding your swimming pool. Then again the entire town was quite fancy. I'll add that to information to the video once I get round to it. 😊

Best way to enjoy Henley is on the water - hire a dayboat from Hobbs during the week (cheaper). Places for walkers to rest as follows : coffee : H+H*, Gails, Chocolate theatre cafe*, Pavillion, Starbucks/Nero/Costa food : Wetherspoons, Francescos, Cinema bistro , Hotel du Vin* (recommended *) St. Trinians (2007) was filmed using Park Place grounds and Chitty chitty bang bang was filmed near Henley - Ian Fleming's father having been MP for Henley. George Orwell grew up in Lower Shiplake - nearby village. Clooney filmed the boys in the boat 2yrs ago in Henley. The festival continues tonight and tomorrow night with good music and fireworks at 10pm ish. The weather looks ok for a walk down by the river but bring a fleece.

Thanks for the great tips for Henley-on-Thames! Hiring a dayboat from Hobbs sounds like a perfect way to spend the day. I'd definitely check out some of the recommended coffee spots and eateries you recommend, next time I'm there. Believe it or not, I haven't seen either St. Trinian's or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, maybe I'll give them a watch soon and look out for for any familiar Henley sights. I'd definitely bring a fleece if I was you, this summer has been such a let down!

Hello, and quite impressive, considering this is your first walking video - also impressive that you did not mention Harry Potter once !!!!!!!!! :) I arrived in Oxford as an undergrad in 1967 - and didn`t leave again for just under forty years - and as a full professor, so I can be a bit touchy about how my old town is presented - but, you managed pretty well, I thought :) Oh yes, I watched this whilst enjoying a nice cup of Earl Grey tea - nothing else would seem quite right !!!!!!!

@@VictoriasWalks You are very, very welcome !! In truth, you did make one or two small errors, and perhaps could have been somewhat more expansive with descriptive content - but it would be churlish of me to mention this, so I won`t :) Another thought occurred to me - as you clearly enjoyed the walk around the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Many of the colleges participate in a well received ' open day ' where the normal entry fee is waived. I suspect you would enjoy the fabulous college gardens, that are a source of pride, and are highly competitive amongst the garden staff to be recognized, annually as the best garden. Once again, well done - perhaps have a stroll along Merton Street when you are next in Oxford, it`s generally quiet, peaceful and quite attractive - jolly good :)
